Sony eyes May 16th for PSP Go!Cam in PAL regions
Hot on the heels of their PlayStation Eye announcement (but eons after the product's Japanese launch) Sony has announced the launch date for the long-time-coming PSP camera, now dubbed the Go!Cam, for Europe and PAL terrirotories. Like with the Eye, we expect a North American date to trickle out any minute now. But back to what we know: the Go!Cam will sell for €49.99 (that £34.99 for the UK, or about $68 US), comes with a built-in microphone just like its big brother, is bundled with Go!Edit, "an editing software package which allows users to save and edit photos, video and audio clips" (Game 3.0 here we come!), and is due to hit Europe on May 16th.

Wow, bling it on for your PSP....
I guess if I had a Diamond Grill or some Crunk Juice, this wouldn't look tacky and cheap, huh?
JodyAnthony @ May 1st 2007 10:03AM
thats quite expensive!

Direct upload to internet of video and pics...sounds like it will play nice with HOME.
Alex @ May 1st 2007 10:38AM
So how does this thing improve the PSP gaming experience? Until then, the Gameboy camera still would be a funner (cheaper) buy
JodyAnthony @ May 1st 2007 10:46AM
the chrome look for the camera is too much for me, but I do wish I had one of those white PSPs.
Colin @ May 1st 2007 10:46AM
Alex...come on.
The GB camera is how old? Greyscale (2 bits per pixel) 128x112 pixel pictures. No portability of photos. No audio. Very limited game connectiveness.
I have one for my old mono GB but be realistic...this is a vast improvement. Color. 1280 x 960 pixel pictures. Ability to store locally or upload to the tubes your photos or video. Audio.

Say it with me now folks....oh why bother
MYGAWD sony Blows. Does anyone really give a crap about this crap?
whosmav @ May 1st 2007 11:02AM
I mean c'mon just make it a phone or a media player or something! Make it do something cool! Or stop clogging up the firmware! Homebrew would be the only friggin reason to get a PSP. I already cruise the net listen to mp3s, check pics, watch vids, and-oh yeah- play a shitload of dopeass games on my DS. If it could only emu the Snes better.
So yeah, anyone got a reason better than a stupid camera to get PSP? Nope... but I expect to hear from the current owners...who are either not playing or loading.
Geez why am I so bitter?
sheppy @ May 1st 2007 11:33AM
"Geez why am I so bitter?"
I'm guessing your mother didn't pack a Pudding Snak Pack in your lunch today... but fine.
Cruise The Net- You're kidding, right? The browsers on most phones work better than the DS Opera browser.
Listen to MP3s- Apparently you don't. therwise you would know the PlayYan is fucking worthless for sorting and playing music. PSP has PlayYans abilities beaten by far and away. It just doesn't have the little Mario hopping through the list.
Check pics and Watch vids? The Picks part I doubt. Watching Vids? Oh yeah, PlayYan is such an asset, isn't it. Their big video player and it's formatted to GBA resolution.
Playing Dope Ass games? DS has great games, I'll admit. But my PSP has plenty of great games as well.

Actually whats funny about this statement is a battle on Legend of Heroes takes less time than a battle in Pokemon. Seriously, "dawg." Get'cher self some new bashes on PSP. Because your current ones are as old and worn out as your "street slang." That's what you get, though, when you think Tag Team is the latest Hip Hop sensation.

whosmav, your comment makes you sound rather insecure.
this camera looks like fun.

@4:
In case you haven't noticed not everyone get's a PSP for gaming solely and don't really care about gaming on it. I have like 2 games. Imported Naruto game and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth. I will get the FF remakes. But I use it for Remote Play with my PS3 when I'm in a coffee shop streaming media. I use it to sit downstairs away from my wireless router and listen to my favorite podcasts streams while I eat. I use it to show my buddies videos of cool things away from the house.
And now I can take pictures with it for a much cheaper price than an equivalent camera media device. With the new price drop you spend MAYBE 300+ and you can do so much more than all portable media devices. Only exception being having a big HDD like an iPod. Seriously, why does anyone think this is in competition with the DS? I personally don't. And if it were, the only reason it loses is because most handheld gamers are young children, and this device is not aimed at them. Adults don't have the lifestyle to suit a handheld system IMO. It's not because people don't market to them, it's just there is no market in that.
vegi-saurus @ May 1st 2007 4:10PM
Just release the frickin' GPS attachment in North America already.
Dark-Pen @ May 1st 2007 4:25PM
so.... when's that damned GPS device coming out?
Richard @ May 1st 2007 8:31PM
