I downloaded this at 6AM EDT and the demo was up then, and it worked fine.

I think that maybe the demo gave away a little bit too much of the game, no big reason to buy the full game.

It's a great game anyways.

If the demo gives away too much of the game, than it could be a timed demo. Either it expires in a given amount of time (a week or two), or you are only allowed to play the game for a given amount of time (an hour or two). They could do it like a car warranty: 14 days or two hours.

i hope it's back up soon, while i liked the look of the screens, i can't merit a purchase on a game i've never played, 800 points is no impulse buy.

@ 4

That may be the demo status kicking in. Typically with Catan it isn't hard to get 7 points really quickly.

Any news about other game modes coming out?

I got the demo early this morning but when I looked later it was taken down. Apparently there is a bug of some sort. I assume htey'll get it fixed and back up quickly. THe game is more than worth 800 points though.

regular catan is boring, once you have played cities and knights. but it is essential to teach someone, as a step.

when the 360 Elite goes dips below $300 (3 to 4 years?), I'll get it for Catan and Geometry Wars

I got the demo at 3AM and played a little must have been pulled for some reason. Hmm may be best to delete this and just download the full cause I want it incase it was pulled for console hijinks.

The good news, for folks like me who downloaded the demo prior to being rescinded, is that you are not forced to delete the demo if you choose to play it again; I imagine if it was a serious, brick-your-360 level bug then MS would simply force an 'update' as they do for other games (I had to update either Alien Hominid or SOTN a few weeks ago). I would, however, like to know the exact reason for the demo's removal.

The demo does run to seven of the needed ten points; however, in my opinion it doesn't 'give too much away' as there's still so much more that could be explored and many more game mechanics to show off (cities, for example, didn't come up in my trial plays). I am content to merely add my approval to the list and hope that MS resolves the issues quickly.

The Reason it was removed is that some players were able to earn achievement points without buying the game. Nothing too major.

@#11 "when the 360 Elite goes dips below $300 (3 to 4 years?), I'll get it for Catan and Geometry Wars"

Why do you need the elite to play XBLA games?? How about a core and a memory card?

@15

say wha?? get real...only idiots and cheap bastards buy a core + memory card....hard drives should've been made mandatory by MS from day one, and MS knows it.

I'll wait for the demo to go back up to see just how well they implemented gameplay before buying...

No not just earning achievement points, thats a side effect of the major problem ( for the creators anyway ). The bug is that the trial randomly unlocks to the full game. It happened to me but once you quit the game and start it up agian its back to being a trial.

The game is awesome, when I heard it was coming to xbox live arcade, I was excited but sorta fearful that the company making it would screw it up. Then I found out it was "Big Huge Games" making it, of rise of nations (and rise of legends) fame...so I knew the game would have their quality and polish and it does. Best 10$ one could spend on xbox live arcade (actually a lot of good money to be spent there, alien hominid hd rocks too)

Wow. You want to try explaining why a 120GB HDD is needed for at most 300MB worth of games?

At the time, 50MB was the size limit for Geo Wars. It is 250MB for Catan. I don't know how much each actually takes so I'm assuming the max.

#11 could buy a Core, 512MB memory card, and Catan for $360 right now. Geo Wars comes on the 512MB card. Hell, s/he could buy a used Premium to get the HDD, HD cable, and wireless controller and then buy the games and still come out cheaper than $360.

Logically, it just doesn't make sense to wait years just to get unnecessary features and to save ~$60....
