Yesterday, we reported on the updated Halo3.com website and its new info including confirmation that the original M6D pistol (with 2x scope) from Halo would make an appearance in Halo 3. But now we're finding out that this isn't really true at all. You see, Halo3.com is run by the corporate guys over at Microsoft and they got a few weapon details wrong. Frankie from Bungie jumped all around the internets to clarify this little pistol confusion stating that there will be a pistol in Halo 3, but not Halo's M6D. The Halo 3 pistol is called the M6G and will NOT include any scope. Sorry guys, it was just a little pistol mixup on Halo3.com. Nothing to see here, so just move along and stay calm.

the scope was good, the pistol sucks without the scope!!!! That really pissed me off in Halo 2, guess i will be pissed off in Halo 3 as well.

While the pistol in Halo was fun, it was broken as hell.
IF they do bring the pistol w/scope back, I hope it is something that isn't available until after you beat the game once and then only in single player.

I actually got a little choked up reading this. I was so happy yesterday when I read the M6D would be making a return.
I'm still hoping maybe they will bring it back, but attempt to balance it by JUST taking out the scope, but I really doubt it.

Why would Bungie allow the original Halo pistol to be in Halo 3 if they are looking for balance? The Halo 1 pistol negated every other weapon in the game - it could kill someone in about 1 second from short distance to long-medium range.
So, you can have two options; nerfed pistol with scope, or same power pistol with no scope. It would appear they went with the latter, which is understandable in my book.
