I agree DoA is terrible...if they had to give that up to get Virtua Fighter 5 in the world of cosmic balance, then it's a trade well made. I haven't bought a DoA game since the second one on the Dreamcast. After briefly playing DoA4, it doesn't look like much has changed since then.

People still buy EGM? Hah! Print is dead.

Actually thanks to Joystiq, I didn't have to buy it at all.

DOA is decent. It doesn't suck, but it surely isn't awesome, either. Tekken, VF, SSB, those are your best fighting games.

Hopefully this is a new game and not just DOA4 with some clever tricks to make it look different.

I always liked DoA, as did my gf and brother, but honestly it has not changed enough to warrant making more. On top of that, most of the characters play exactly the same. A,A,A,A,B,B,B, CATCH an attack, A,B,B,A, THROW, A,A,B,B,B,B, CATCH

Originally the break-through walls levels rocked, but now it's been done to tears. The characters are "pretty" but that's also standard fare. They need to make this game for the Wii instead and have jiggling on both sides of the screen

I just have to wonder what will happen if Ninja Gaiden Sigma sees great sales. Granted, I expect that to be a timed exclusive. All this could really mean is that we are seeing even more companies get rid of console exclusitivity.

I'm a big fan of DOA, but I don't like Ninja Gaiden. I will be sad if this leaves the 360, but to be fair, I'm getting bored with console games anyway and am saving up for a decent gaming PC. And I still haven't got my 360 sorted out.

Indeed DoA is horrible, for 3d fighter its VF5 or nothing else. 2d fighters, street fighter still the champ (tho I do personally rate King of fighters above it) for weapon combat its souls calibur and for party/fun its Super smash bros (though I feel a Powerstone sequel could give it a good run for its money)

I don't know if Sigma is time exclusive, there was no news they are making it for 360. Frankly, NG was a great game, and I don't think it sold well at all, not even over 1 million copies. I wouldn't be surprised if Sigma sells very well, they'd make NG2 on PS3 exclusive.

DOA isn't bad, I remember buying it for my gf 2 Christmas ago.

If this is true, its becoming very apparent that the PS3 is the system of choice for fighting game fans. VF5, Tekken, SFII HD, DOA 5... the only system that will have them all is the PS3.

DOA is one of the most overrated overbloated pieces of shit to ever get fanboy service. PS3 already has VF5. Itagaki himself said DOA started because he liked VF. I'm not going to play a game that's trying to be Virtua Fighter, I'll just play VF5.

"yawn" Keep DOA, Keep Tekken. Wake me when we get something real...like Soul Caliber.

I remember when DOA2: Hardcore came out for PS2, and it was a boatload of fun. I picked up VF5 recently and while I can tell it's a better game and much more in-depth, I have to say that for people like me who don't have time to be a master fighter DOA is a fighting game you can just pick up (and mash the hell out of the buttons :P)

Even though VF>Tekken>DoA (my opinion), this is still good news :)

Itagaki has said numerous times that he will never disappoint his Xbox fanbase. If DOA comes to PlayStation, it will be in the form of a port.

And yeah DOA isn't as deep as Virtua Fighter, but it's a lot more fun if you're not some nerd who can't even get laid. Then I understand why you'd hate DOA so much. (You can get beat by someone who doesn't play as often.) Big deal. It's just a game. A fun one at that. Or is it not fun unless you have to know the frame data for all characters in order to win? Give me a break.

@Moe,

Sorry, but no. If you take a few minutes to hit some gaming site archives, I think you'll find that any time DoA is mentioned people usually talk about how it sucks, regardless of platform/exclusivity/whatever. Which is fair; let's face it, it's the button-mashiest 3d fighter out there.

And regardless of how button-mashy the game is, I still like it. Why does every every fighter have to be super-technical to the point that only masochistic pro-wanna-be gamers play it? What ever happened to a fun game with some reasonable flair?

And if you DON'T think DOA can get technical, you haven't played very much. The point is you can button mash AND you can get technical. It appeals to both players, if they weren't Tekken nerds first.

There is nothing I hate more than a snobby fighter player.

I love DOA, and hope to God that Sony isn't taking it from me. I don't play it because of the breast physics either -- it's much more than a button masher.

Sure you can beat a button masher with a button masher, but fight someone who can read moves and deliver counters consistently, mixing in throws every now and then, and mashing won't get you anywhere.

On top of that, the beautiful, tiered stages offer a lot more gameplay-wise than typical 'ring'-style fighters.

DOA doesn't suck, at all, but the notion in the minds of people who have never played it spreads when they push out those volleyball "games". People start to think it's all about the bounce.

I really don't want DOA to be a PS3 exclusive. I'll laugh my ass off if it's a volleyball game, or one of those Japanese pool party games, but DOA5 (or Code Cronus) will definitely upset me to lose.

@Edge of Blade,

I never said I didn't like the game, it's my 3rd favorite 3D fighting game series (right behind VF and Soul Calibur). Perhaps it's just because of a solid decade of playing the series now; but the thing is, while it is a much deeper/more technical game than most people give it credit for, it's still not nearly as deep as the competition, which is why i called it the button-mashiest of the bunch. The fact is, a good button masher can defeat an average (not good/great, mind you) technical player easily in DoA.

I was merely stating, what you have to admit is true; every time DoA is brought up (not just when it's announced as exclusive to one console or another) there's plenty of hate for the series. Am I wrong?

Oh, and if you've got an 360/DoA 4 I'll be happy to demonstrate that I do in fact know exactly how technical the game can get, just drop me your gamertag. ;)

More then likely bullshit. Itagaki has always been a strong supporter of the 360, not to mention putting a 3rd party on the PS2 as a exclusive certainly means bad sales.

It will either be a 360 exclusive or a multiplatform title. Remember, this is EGM, the magazine that continues to report that Bioware for some odd reason will magically go to the PS3 will all of their titles. Nice try EGM, I'm not that stupid.
