Geo,

We just have different gaming tastes, plain and simple. I think ExciteTruck is very mediocre. I think Godfather is decent, yet still mediocre, and only seems good because of the games it is stacked up against. It is basically the same as the 360 version. The 360 version is considered mediocre because it is compared to Saint's Row and others. The Wii version is compared to...?

You are content with the quality of games coming out on the Wii. I am not. We just have different tastes and standards for our game consoles.

SSB, Galaxy, Metroid, and others will prove to you how truly mediocre ExciteTruck and Godfather really are. Believe it. It's a good thing. If you are happy with the Wii now you'll crap your pants when some big budget, built from the ground up, Wii games hit.

Looks great, if it holds up. Hopefully, as it's only supposedly 13 of the 45 games in development currently, they can keep this up for the rest of the Wii's lifetime. Of course, all of these coming out this year, particularly Mario, Metroid, and SSB would be a huge change for Nintendo, given that they typically only release one, maybe 2, of these "mega" franchises a year. Their host of "supporting" games also looks quite good this year.

Just sold my Wii and all games. For about 50 bucks less than I paid (at launch) so its like I paid 10 bucks a month to rent it.

I'll buy back a used one at the end of the year when some decent games come out for it. I rented Super Paper Mario and it made me gag. Its really a kids game.

Metroid and the Wii X games are really the only ones I'm looking forward to playing. I was fed up with Mario after the Super Mario 3.

Jake,

Excite truck was built for wii from the ground up afaik. It still is a quality game. It controls beautifully, and making winning about style as much as speed is what made it shine. I borrowed it from a friend, put 15 hours into it easy, and would play it for another 2 right now.

Godfather is good. It isn't the best game of its kind I have ever played, but the wii version is the best version due to the controls.

Three times, eh? Ok. This is what we have www.thesimexchange.com for. If you're so sure, play the game, put some fake money down, demonstrate your knowledge. Right now, we've got a couple months of research into it, and Halo 3's lined up for 10.9 million copies, roughly. That could go up with a better attach rate than we're expecting (Halo games tend to the high 20%, while our current numbers imply an 18% tie-in.)

Mario Galaxy, though, isn't at 1/3 the price. It's at 8.25 million, based on the estimated Wii lifetime sales and the fact that no main Mario game on a console that prominent has sold under 10 million. (Only Sunshine has sold under 10 million, and that was with a 21 million-selling console.) Even if we're overshooting on the console, 8 and a quarter is still likely.

If you're so sure there'll be a 3:1 difference, come play and share your wisdom. The debate environment is very different once stock is on the line.

"What is the big deal about Wii?"
Fun games for a low price, interesting new controls (good or bad, still interesting and new as a major console choice)

"Is it really revolutionary?"
It has gotten many people into gaming that weren't before. To the gaming industry, it could be considered revolutionary. To 'hardcore' gamers, probably not.

"Does it have a large assortment of QUALITY games?"
It has some games that could be considered high quality, some that could be considered low quality. Same with every single other video game console ever released.

"Where is the Wii headed for in late 2007, 2008, 2009?"
Along the same path it's on now. Fun games. Same with 360 and PS3.

"Can the Wii steam keep going?"
Only time can tell. As is, it does not seem to be falling, but noone can say what the future holds.

"What does the Wii have to offer other than games?"
First of all, this shouldn't be a focus when it comes to a video game console. Video games should be first and foremost. That being said, it does not have as much non-gaming stuff to offer as the other two major consoles.

"How much different is the Wii from previous Gen console?"
By control alone, very different. By graphics alone, not so much. By impact on the gaming industry, very different.

"Why doesn't the Wii have a REAL solution to online gaming in 2007?"
There will be games that you can play online for free. It doesn't seem to have anything other than gameplay to offer when it comes to online, however.

"Are the prices for VC games justified?"
For many people they are. For many they are not. For gamers that do not want to pirate old ROMs and no longer have their old collections, the price is fair. As with the price of anything, lower would always be better, but as is, the prices to not seem that detrimental. That being said, if virtual console games were cheaper, I would surely have a lot more of them. For people that have no problem downloading old ROMs to play on their computer, it doesn't matter how low the VC prices could be, if people can and want to get the games for free, they will do so

"Is the Wii a fad?"
What popular item couldn't be considered a fad? Of course the popularity will wane as time goes on. That does not mean the games for the console are some how not fun.

Their online system will not be as robust as xbox live. so what? why does every console have to do the same thing as every other one?

Meh, friend codes aren't really that bad. Jeeze LongshotX.

For Mario: Super Strikers, the friend codes allow you to interact with the people through typing/voice. Without friend codes you can still play people all over the world, without talking trash to people.

Which is, honestly, why I hate playing XBL. Too many 14 year old kids cussing up a storm because they suck balls at Gears of War.

Did you play MarioKart for the DS? That game had cartridge based friend codes, but the wii will utilize the friend code your console has. The online is great on it...except the people that draw penises as their "logo".

Friend codes have been blown way out of proportion. They are only needed once if you want to play against your actual friends, and not needed at all otherwise. I see myself having to type in maybe 6 friend codes in the next year. First, my friends would all need to get the same game, then if there actually was a time where we would both be playing at the same time in our respective houses, then I would need to do it. Sounds a little wonky, but no big deal.

The friend code thing is ridiculous because people fail to ever look into the matter and realize that games like Custom Robo Arena allow you to add people to your friends list (or rivals list) automatically after a match and they allow you to rematch if you want.

Also, you guys are hilarious. Stop trying to pretend to be "analysts" and just play some damn games. Quit shitting up threads on the Wii and go play games on the systems you have.

Honestly, this is why the gaming industry has become retarded.

Not liking the Wii is fine. It's called having the freedom of your own opinion.

I'll speak my own opinion here. I'm coming from about 40 PS2 games and 25 gamecube games, and so far, the PS3 and 360 are the disappointing consoles for me, they're not offering me the games I bought previously, and I'm not interested in the newer titles. The Wii, on the other hand, is, plus I can play it with other people who aren't dedicated gamers.

I'm very interested in Nintendo's first party titles, and there are some interesting 3rd party Wii titles coming up as well.

The only interesting PS3/360 titles for the year, for me, are Eternal Sonata and Armored Core 4. I'm not insulting any of the games you're looking forward to, I'm simply saying I wouldn't enjoy them.

Its funny how people say there are no good Wii games out now and none coming out. While I'm not going to debate about the potential goodness of any future games (which a lot of people seem to love to do) since you know I haven't played them because you know they're not out yet.

But I will say there are a lot of fun Wii games out right now. I think the problem is most people (even Wii owners) haven't played most of the Wii games. I understand that games are an investment but that why there are game rental stores. I have a Unlimited game rental subscription and its probably one of my best investments. Because of it I've really got a chance to see what the Wii has to offer, and has some good, some great, and some sucky games just like every other system. Here's a quick list of some games I really recommend at least renting.

Super Paper Mario- amazing game can't say any more

Trauma Center- great times involves some patience
SSX Blur- great game actually wish it was longer, take the effort to learn the controls and you'll be amazed

Elebits- hated the story but one the most 1 to 1 uses of the wiimote, great stress reliever

Excite Truck- old school racing fun, you remember awesome games like Rush and Crusin yeah like that

Sonic- yeah you start out purposefully gimped but it gets better and better as you progress

TMNT- Wouldn't buy it by a really fun game, very fast paced platformer/beat em up

BTW most of those were 3rd Party games

LBP is going to see ALOT of PS3's as is Home.
LBP and others like it (sony is sure to be working on other games of different generes utilizing user created content, Game 3.0) are going to change gaming as we know it, I am talking about consoles NOT PC's.

Great comment Mr. martz"

You can look into the future? AWESOME!! Why is HOME going to be huge? It's a horrible way to nickel&dime consumers, you get the same as you would in Habbo Hotel, Second Life, or hell, any MMORPG in the world. LBP looked like a nice game, but you are praising something based on a few short demo's? And to call it earth-shattering megaton? I saw a few cutesy characters jumping around solving puzzles, as well as nifty physics, and sure it looked like a game I'd buy, but in no way a megaton hit of epic proportions. Big sales means it must appeal to the mass market, tell me why this game would be so appealing to the mass market, especially when it's on a console that's shunned by the mass market? User created content? It's been on PC for ages, we all know it, and it's not enough to rule supreme over the console empire, so we can deduct that it's not THAT of a big deal. I'm looking forward to see you weeping when LBP becomes "just" another critically acclaimed title that sells reasonably well.

first of all.....does sony even develope games, or just pay people to do it. I've never seen or heard of a game developed by "Sony Electronics"...just hardware. The day that changes...then we can talk about bringing "Crash Bandicoot Racing" into the big leagues. Besides, didn't Spiro make his way over to the cube??? i don't think he's a one system character anymore my friend.

secondly, i don't understand why everyone bashes Nintendo for releasing sequels or somewhat updated titles over and over. EA has been doing it for years, and have been banking on it. I personally don't blame them either. If you anything about making money....you'd slightly understand.

compare it to cars....ford and in the future chevy brought back retro looking designs for the mustang and camaro....are they stupid? Hell no....

to end this....if you don't like the games...don't buy them

1: That guy calling Mario Strikers a bowling game was just pure awesome.

2: If you haven't noticed, 2 of the hugest games for the DS are Nintendogs and Brain Age, which are brand new franchises without Mario. Nintendo makes sequels AND new properties. Find me a company that absolutely refuses to make sequels. Even Mr. Katamari got suckered into making 2 more before he finally quit.
