Impossible Mission to stay in Wii Shop Channel... forever!
Impossible Mission is set to be the first downloadable Wii title that doesn't run on the Virtual Console. Eurogamer reports (via Nintendo Power magazine) that the remake of the Commodore 64 platformer will be made available in the online Wii Shop channel, making it the first new(ish) visitor to Nintendo's virtual aisles. Given the inescapable nature of the in-store music, we wouldn't be surprised to see the game stay awhile or indeed, stay foreeeeeverrr. For those unfamiliar with the title and the nefarious Professor Atombender, Impossible Mission will provide a retro mode in addition to the revamped adventure, much like the recent Jetpac Refuelled did on Xbox Live Arcade. Fight robots, keep atoms straight and sell an Xbox 360 in Japan this Summer when the game hits the Wii, PS2, PSP and DS.

Have you got the one where they're swimming? Apparently that's out there, and I've yet to see it. I've downloaded 20 games (joking) just to get it, and still have yet to see it.
*sigh*
Hmm...
*Hums Wii Shop Channel's music*

Joshua @ May 3rd 2007 2:24PM
So this is a remake? Does that make this Wii's first downloadable "original" game?
Almack64 @ May 3rd 2007 2:27PM
@ Ken yeah I've seen little mario (luigi), big mario (luigi), fire mario, and little mario and luigi swimming together. My downloads end in error a lot and when I select retry or soemthing I get a different picture. I'm assumming there's also a fire luigi. I wonder if there are anymore?
Has anyone seen anything else?

There was an interview with the people responsible for the Wii Shop Channel, and I think they only mentioned these:
Big Mario,
Small Mario,
Fire Mario,
Swimming Mario/Luigi (Rarest),
Big Luigi(Rare),
Small Luigi(Rare).

Rubang B @ May 3rd 2007 3:45PM
I just read this a couple days ago in my U.S. Nintendo Power and didn't think to tip you guys off. I forgot it was news, 'cuz I figured Sam & Max would be the first new non-VC Wii downloadable game. Oops! I'll porbalby have to get this. Nintendo Power said it would have a Retro mode, a new mode, and some sort of half and half mode!?!?
Viridium @ May 3rd 2007 3:57PM
I wasted so many hours in my youth on this game...
Ah, another visitor! Stay awhile. Stay FOREVER!
Yaktastic @ May 3rd 2007 4:26PM
Just a comment on the "fight robots" part of the description of this absolute classic... it wasn't as much "fight" the robots as jump over them and hope to god you can sneak to the next platform before they lightly graze you, causing disintigration and the greatest of all video game dealth rattles. I have already posted the text version on many, many posts at this point so i'll spare you the kermit electrocution noises, :) SOOOO EXCITED!!!!

@ Joshua # 8 & # 13...if you would have bothered reading the FIRST SENTENCE OF THE ARTICLE, you would have seen this : "Impossible Mission is set to be the first downloadable Wii title that doesn't run on the Virtual Console." Are you seriously that dense??
READ THE FIRST SENTENCE DUMBASS!!!!! Why the hell do you comment on an article that you didn't even read???
gredom2 @ May 3rd 2007 10:47PM
I loved this game back in the C64 days!! Now I have to get a Wii....I guess I can't hold off any longer....
Phour ZwanZig @ May 4th 2007 12:38AM
Ohhh man, the time I wasted playing this game on my Commodore 64/128.. Never really ever found out if there was even an end to the game.. Maybe I'll have to get me some of them WII points or whatever.. hmm
some person @ May 7th 2007 5:06AM
@20
Apparently this is a VC game, if it isn't, they made it sound like otherwise, other then that, it sounds like a regular 'ol VC game, so don't call others idiots when you are one yourself, ok? :)
some person @ May 7th 2007 5:06AM
BTW, I did read the whole article, idiot :|
