Rumor: New PlayStation 3 model less than 18 months away

I'm guessing this will be a more expensive version with LocationFreeTV built in. And a large hard drive for IPTV, too.

Just like Elite. It appears Sony and MS are finally making their living room land grab. I'll buy the first box with ESPN streaming.

I think the person's reference to a "Cadillac" was interesting. People can whine all they want about price, but I got a Cadillac tank with 20" rims and you got a Ford Pinto.

Oh, and btw, for those who are decrying blu-ray, Rockstar is saying that they're having trouble developing for both systems as they have to limit their code to what DVD can bare. It's not even about Blu-ray, necessarily. If the 360 had the forsight to include an HD-DVD, there wouldn't be a problem.

But there IS a problem, and that is that DVD does not hold enough content compared to Blu-Ray, and that's straight from the developers, so they've had to limit what they can do because one of the systems is dependent on DVD.

I don't really like the cadilac comparisons, actually. Because a lot of people cannot afford a cadilac and likewise, some people can't justify the money in a cadilac. It's the same for PS3. I bought mine because I have disposable income out the ass and I'm a huge fan of Insomniac. Not everyone has that disposable income. A lot of people cannot justify the price of a $600 console for the handful of exclusives PS3 has. As time passes, PS3 will get more exclusives, no doubt. But they also have to work on that HUGE barrier, the console price. These are high tech toys, true enough. But they are still toys.

PSOne lasted 10 years. The PSOne had games coming out in year 9. PS2, thanks to the oddly symbiotic relationship it's forged with the Wii will likely last even longer. Sony is still showing strong support for the PS2 and encouraging third parties to do the same. So yes, PS3 will last ten years (hopefully) but that's not to say we won't see PS4 in 2011 or 2012.

my favorite book casts a "shep" as a "good guy". he's autistic, but still "good". book is called "by the light of the moon" by Dean Koontz. do yourself a favor and check it out... then you won't forever be wondering why *every* "shep" is a "bad guy" :)

also: i hope they keep raising the ps3's price. it's not nearly high enough yet.

By the Light of the Moon is the last book I read. It is very good. I love Koontz books and have read about 20 of them. Just thought it was cool that you mentioned it as your favorite.

Man, I don't even know which Koontz book is my favorite. My favorite two books I've read are Jurassic Park and The Valhalla Testament. Yeah, I just read sci-fi/suspense/thriller type junk books.

Actually, I haven't read a book since I purchased a 360, and I used to read a LOT. How sad is that?

I'm currently working through Dean Kootz's Forever Odd. As well as RA Salvatore's Legacy of the Drow omnibus and Christopher Moore's A Dirty Job. I like Koontz but I feel he borrows and twists popular culture items rather than invents his own. I had just gotten done with Lightning and while it was a good book, I was a tad disappointed.

I mean, the whole thing was about Time Traveling Nazis and Dr. K kept following the hero. My issue is, the Dr. K gets killed within the first half of the book, right? Then they focus on that SS guy and he was nowhere near as interesting as Dr. K. What I would have LOVED to have seen him do is explore time travel even more thoroughly. Once we saw him die, who's to say that should have been the last of him? Maybe he traveled further forward in time and was the one to ambush Laura, nearly win, but get stopped, return back to his original time and decide to make another trip earlier in time to ambush them along that snowy mountain road? After all, no matter how much time is spent in the future, you only lost 15 minutes in the present. And while you could not alter your past, his presnece within at various points along the timeline would NOT have resulted in a Paradox as Dean explains it. Instead, we lose the better villian in favor of "Hail Hitler" generic SS killer guy.

And yes, at any given time, I'm reading between 3-7 different books. I never know what I'm in the mood to read.

I personally feel that the Ps3 is a great system. People have been saying so much bad stuff about how there werent enough games, or the price was too high, blah blah. Ps3 was placed in the top 50 supercomputers in the world,that should say something atleast. They are also working on some really neat stuff for the ps3. Things such as Home(Kinda like a game lobby for friends and stuff), another Program called Folding at Home, they are working on an update that will actually make games (PS2 and PS1) look better. So for all the people who were disappointed with PS3, i say, all great things take time.

I think its just dumb make another play station.
they havn't make a lot of games for the ps3 yet.And the games are getting pricy. If they really going to make another one make it cheaper. some of us dont have that kind of money. and i really see why we need
abig hard drive in tghe first place i do just fine the cards.

DON'T BUY THE PS3. IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY. JUST WAIT UNTIL THE PS4 OR THE PS3.5 THE PS4 WILL BE THE SAME AS THE PS3, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THE PS1 AND THE PS2 WERE ALMOST LIKE.
