This might be the best game on the PSP. Gitaroo-Man is its major competition for that title.

As a flea market seller, I approve of the song.

I want this game really badly. Well, the PS1 original.

ahh... it was an excellent game, though it was often frustratingly hard/broken in the getting the beats right department

Parappa and Umjammer Lammy were two of my favorite PS1 games, but I wouldn't buy them again. I still have my copies and will never part with them. On the other hand, Parappa 2 wasn't so hot.

I already imported to japanese version a couple of months ago, although it didn't matter that I know Japanese because it has an English menu/subtitles(the songs are all in English anyway...) option.

One of the first casual games. But wait, its teh kiddy! -,-;

You know what would so rock? A sequel to Umjammer Lammy using the Guitar Hero controller!

Um Jammer Lammy would have to be one of the most underrated games of all time.

Multiple arrangements and multiplayer modes - and some more intricate song structures - and you have a masterpiece.

The nature of the guitar "back-up" to the vocals - as opposed to the call and response nature of the "rapping" in PaRappa (in a hiphop context - you'd be expecting the crowd to throw back the lines to the performers - not the "hype man" role that Pa fills in the game...) make replayability so much stronger.

yeah - that Parappa 2 was a rushed piece of shit - barely a shade on the first. Lammy is the true sequel - and PaRappa's there - and playable 1p (if you unlock him) and 2p vs and co op to boot.

If you like Guitar Hero - track Um Jammer Lammy down...if you like PaRappa, track it down..

Naw, the game isn't broken - you just suck at it ;)

j/k.

Now, if this is a straight up port with no added feautures or higher-res graphics or anything like that, why isn't it being distibuted on the PlayStation network?

Wasn't Sony all about the interactivity between the PSP and PS3, and saying how wonderful it will be to download games to the PSP via the PS3?

So, they're putting out a port of a game that is roughly ten years old to retail, on UMD, with packaging when it could just put a digital version up on their network? Not very environmentally friendly.

I'm no fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, and I like to be objective about the industry and all the major players in it, but this just seems stupid. It's a great game and a shoe-in on the PSP, but why sell it at retail when there is a perfectly "good" network there collecting dust?

Does anyone else feel kind of ripped off that they could of released this on the Playstation Store for like $7 with all the other PS1 titles, but instead they are releasing it for retail for probably $30-$40?

Unfortunately I never got into PaRappa that much, although I do think I own it somewhere. I did, though, get a demo for Um Jammer Lammy, and I loved it. But paying retail price for an unpolished game that originally came out about a decade ago, no thanks.
