Weekly Webcomic Wrapup: comical review edition
Jeremy Parish from 1UP is known for adding a little flair to his reviews. Like turning them into full-fledged comics and rhyme. Such is the case here with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Almost, at least -- Parish eventually scrapped the idea and went a more conventional route. Fortunately for our interests, he posted the unfinished project his personal blog GameSpite.
We applaud the effort in making reviews more interesting and eye-catching, and of course for using pretty pictures. Here are our picks for the week's best game-related webcomics, be sure to vote for your favorite! (As always, if you feel that we've missed a golden comic strip, be sure to let us know.)

Hm... 2P start is winning... I didn't vote for it because I actually want mega man in smash brothers.

Can anyone explain what the "Inspiration" (http://www.nuklearpower.com/latest.php) comic is supposed to mean? It's in English but I think the panels are out of order or something...

@foreman
what?! WHAT IS THIS!? Is this blasphemy I see?
Have you never heard of 8-bit theater? Seriously, man, you must've been living under a rock. It's only one of the greatest FF1 based comics ever. I suggest you read the whole thing, beginning to end, also, you're gonna need lots of time and snack, then proceed to sleeping around comic 500.
Great stuff, though.
They got the dual nun-chucks thing from one of the comics... I forget what number it was though, but it was like "Sword-chucks, yo!"
Askzander @ May 5th 2007 2:33PM
How is Penny Arcade doing so well? I thought that one was pretty stupid...
None of them are great, but I voted for RPG-TV.

RE: JBGUY2K
Thanks for the reply. I've heard of 8-Bit Theater and I read one of the comics a couple years ago and didn't particularly enjoy it.

Could someone please explain the second comic 2 me.
I voted for the one that made me laugh most.(digital unrest)
Joystiq could you please include VGcats and Godmode online next time pls? Thanx.
Negativecool @ May 5th 2007 3:05PM
Wow, I'm impressed this week. I got a pretty good chuckle out of all but a couple. Lately, I feel like the weekly web comics haven't actually made me laugh but I thought they were clever.
Good week.
sheppy @ May 5th 2007 4:35PM
I can see how VG cats didn't make the cut this week. It wasn't about video games. Seriously, no game, aside from Shonen Jump Superstars and it's sequel references Deathnote. And those are in japanese.
Joe @ May 5th 2007 4:37PM
All of these sucked SO hard.
Aim For The Brain is still my favorite, even though it's hosted on 1UP.
Jim @ May 5th 2007 4:42PM
WOW @ EXTRALIFE.
This week is really hard to decide, lots of good web comics!

It represtents sonys attitude so well thats why.
csc @ May 5th 2007 8:02PM
Will someone please explain the legendary one, either I just dont get it or its devoid of humour.
led @ May 6th 2007 12:41AM
@12: It's a joke about how, in RPGs, you can basically walk into any NPC's house and take anything you want. Even the theft insurance guys don't care.
Also, the "Ennis, Piers, Cecil" is a nod to "NPC," I think. I thought it was kinda clever.
I also liked the rant under the comic.
Anon-atron @ May 6th 2007 8:37AM
Yeah but what is the punchline in the legendary one?
Anyways, I think this is the first mention of Sword-Chucks Yo:

And another insight into the mind of Fighter, his guest comic:

The first 200 or so comics of 8bit Theatre are unparalleled. Pity he has stuck with the same characters for the 6 years since that...
waf @ May 6th 2007 12:16PM
I voted Legendary. I hope Joystiq, will continue running it and Gigaville despite not really racking up in the polls. I think having a couple non Penny Arcade clones helps the poll a lot!
csc @ May 6th 2007 1:18PM
gigaville is alright but that legendary one just didnt do anything, I think its the panel structure it just seemed like different people were there and the guy on the left wasnt actually doing anything.
James @ May 6th 2007 1:50PM
Wow, The only time PA is actually slightly funny it doesn't get mass voted for. Only when It's not funny apparently. Tough choice between 2pstart and PA.
CcntMnky @ May 6th 2007 2:37PM
Wow, that was like voting for President: no good choice and nothing I saw was worth while.
SergeXIII @ May 6th 2007 3:33PM

Hmmm, maybe I should try making a webcomic.... it could be fun and funny or I could just make dick jokes and game references...
