World of Warcraft credit card, chaaaaaaarge!
A new wave of e-currency is almost upon us with the announcement from Blizzard that they are offering World of Warcraft themed Visa cards that turn real world spending into fake world game time. The card will take 1% of what you charge and turn it into minutes that you can use to visit Azeroth. So, if you want to rack up a lot of time, hand this to a big spender.
This comes on the heels of The Sims credit card, which will likely be something similar. MAKE magazine said we'd be seeing something like this a year ago, and it looks like they were right. Here's hoping they take our real world purchases and turn them into in game money, because they don't take credit cards in Ironforge, and some of the stuff we want is pretty darned expensive.

Like store clerks need any more reasons to look down their noses at you...

One question:
How do you become a "big spender" on a WOW credit card when all you're doing is sitting on your ass playing the game?
Negativecool @ May 5th 2007 5:00PM
Cabcru-
Wipe the chocolate ice cream off your chubby cheeks the next time you buy clothes from the bimbos at Ambercrombie & Fitch.

A Personal Computer $1500
A copy of Warcraft $25
Never being able to use your credit card again in public ... Priceless
Jesus who would use that! Imagine taking a lovely young lady to dinner, then paying using that! No wonder WOW players never get laid!
Wow is the new Star Trek!

Well, if you really want, use it online. I wonder if the number on the pictured CC is active?
UO Guy @ May 5th 2007 9:09PM
I plan on getting one and then buying gold with it and getting free game time as a result :)
Ed @ May 5th 2007 9:17PM
@Ren
I gotta get me one of those.
Aberu @ May 6th 2007 1:39AM
Yeah at MINIMUM you get 9.99% apr. 1% of everything you spend gets turned into some sorta weird point system. Every dollar is a point. I'm guess you need to acquire 150 points to get a month or so. Yeah people are stupid if they get this.

Actually, Mastercard starts with a 3, Visa with a 4, and Amex with a 5. L2CreditCard.
Arcnyx @ May 9th 2007 3:04PM
umm...Mastercard starts with a 3? Guess that means I should get checked for dyslexia, cause all I see is a 5.
Rick C @ May 9th 2007 3:25PM
Tassia, you got that backwards. Amex 3, Visa 4, MC 5, Discover 6. Also notice that card is an "AISV", not a VISA, and the hologram isn't the dove that Visas actually use, and is obviously, then, a fake. That doesn't mean there won't be any such thing, of course.

Am I the only person that noticed the "Penalty Rate" of 32%, and the fact that you do not need to be 30+ days late to receive that PERMENANT bump in APR, you simply need to miss by one day or have them process it AFTER calculating that you still owe them...
Considering the amount of Financially Responsible people that play these games, I expect this scheme to make tons o' money.
pwnyou @ May 9th 2007 7:15PM
wow people are stupid. enjoy showing this off at your wow conventions, losers.
Wren @ May 11th 2007 7:11AM
God, i hope Amex will make a WoW Centurion card...Total losers with way too much money (which would be 90% of the users anyway).

@ Steven:
The last time I checked, frat boyz and sorority gurlz didn't know Klingon. WoW is for nerds as much as MTV is.
