- Ordyne (TG-16, 600 Wii Points) - A horizontal scrolling shoot-em-up in the style of Parodius.
- Mighty Bomb Jack (NES, 500 Wii Points) - A puzzle/platformer game.
- Final Fight (SNES, 800 Wii Points) - Capcom's beat-em-up defined the genre in the 16-bit days. Walk around, punch people, play a muscle-bound mayor, then destroy a car and watch the owner weep. Does it get any better than that? Answer: no.
Final Fight, Mighty Bomb Jack, Ordyne hit the Virtual Console

Although Nintendo's press site has been silent on this week's Virtual Console releases, three new classic games are now available, just like every Monday, ready to fill our day with a little sunshine, lollipops, and a rainbow or two.

The SNES version of Final Fight is not exactly what I'd call "as good as it gets".

I've been so poor lately, so I've been unable to get anymore Wii points.
That being said (question to the joystiq writers, and readers): Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon, or Final Fight?
LET THE DECISIONS BEGIN!

EXCUSE ME, but Mighty Bomb Jack was one of my favorite games for the NES, therefore it is one of the best. Get used to it and get down with its madness.

Ken, being a huge fan of both games and still having both carts for my SNES, I'd say go with Goemon for the 2 player co-op. SNES Final Fight is only 1P style, which isn't so bad, 'cuz Haggar works alone.

Final Fight in single player mode, missing Guy, and generally being considered one of the worst arcade ports ever made.... yeah, I'll save my WiiPoints on this one. Especially when Capcom Arcade Classics has this game with three player support, arcade original, and GUY.
You hear that, Nintendophiles? I chose the version of Final Fight which DOESN'T have Guy as a Blockbuster Video exclusive!

Yeah, 2P coop will be pretty important to me. I'll pick up Goemon. Thanks :)

I have only buy one VC game and I been disapointed so far, the games are just rooms with an emulator, I wish they took the actual source of the game and at least add a Ranking system where you could compare your scores to your friends or the rest of the world.
what VC is doing it has been around in the dreamcast and PC'S for ages and for free

Another thing missing from the SNES version... the two tranny gang members. Poor Billy and Sid... they could never quite fill the void when Poison and Roxy were chopped. Also... Sodom deserves to be called Sodom, not Katana.

I must get Final Fight. It was the first game I ever bought for SNES, and I got it before I even got the console. I knew where my mom hid the Christmas presents, so I'd take out Final Fight and stare at it every day ...
Even though it's one player and chock full of slowdown, it's still a good port.

Seriously, so many people seem to be excited about Final Fight, completely forgetting the 2nd player issue. That was a huge deal back when the game came out. I think EGM knocked it a few points because of that alone, and that's totally justifiable.

who the hell wanted to play as guy anyway?
as it is though I will not be getting final fight. it was the only game I had for about 3 months at one point..i think I've had enough final fight for one lifetime.

It's simple...
Hagar was strong but slow
Cody was balanced
Guy was fast but weak
If you moved fast enough, the game was your bitch...

I 100% agree with you. Mighty Bomb Jack = Awesomeness. I'm so glad they finally put this on VC since my NES broke.

It's funny that the Joystiq blogger included a picture that pretty much the wrong version of the game. There's no Guy in the Virtual Console version, yet the picture displays him.

The picture in question seems to be from Final Fight Guy.... a Blockbuster Video exclusive. How can I tell? Well, in the arcade original, the line is "Oh! My God!" but Nintendo being the "there is no god in game" stance at the time had Capcom change the line to "Oh! My Car!"
There ya go folks, yet another reason why the SNES versions were inferior.
