Pelican PS2 to PS3 adapter is Guitar Hero ready
If you're anything like us, one of the few things keeping that PlayStation 2 from being relegated to the same box that stores your Xbox, Gamecube, and (in some alternate reality) your Dreamcast, is the system's complete inability to rock out with the Guitar Hero series. Nearly six months after the PlayStation 3's launch, a peripheral manufacturer has finally realized that this whole Guitar Hero thing is ... well, it's sort of a big deal.
Enter: Pelican, and their PS6388 PS2 to PS3 adapter which, according to Aeropause, is "Guitar Hero™ 1 and 2 Ready: Plug in your favorite guitar and rock out to Guitar Hero 1 and 2 on your PS3." Unlike previous adapters, the Pelican adapter features support for multiple controllers and a PS button enabling it to bypass the PS3's back-compat limitations. Will it work with Rock Band?

What about 360, can it convert into the 360 GH2?

On the linked site, it states that this item DOESN'T work with GH2, I want to try this for myself.

I knew this would come out eventually. I also bought GHII for xbox 360 but held on to my ps2 guitars since I knew 80's edition was coming this summer. I'm sure the tracks will probably be available for download on live, but if not, I now have a back up plan.
**fingers crossed for master of puppets**

Can someone please find a link where I can buy this?

Not buying an adapter yet until GH2 and rumble support is working. Rumble is now supported on PS3 via the firmware updates so the exclusion of rumble in this device is disturbing. It implies that they specifically engineered the device to filter out the rumble "signals", regardless of the fact that they said that the only reason it wouldn't rumble was due to the PS3 not even sending the signal.
Something's fishy. So again, not buying one until a third party manufacturer releases one with GH2 and Rumble support.

This might be a stupid question and totally blasphemous, but has anyone tried plugging the 360 guitar into the PS3 and play the PS2 game?
It's all USB right?

Finally!!!
This thing should have been ready for launch.
Should suffice till GH3 for PS3 comes out this Christmas.

I bought this and it does not work properly with GH II. Here's the comment I left on Gamestop's website:
"This product does NOT work correctly with Guitar Hero II, even though it claims to. I got my guitar to work, but there is a noticeable lag between when I strum and when the system registers a hit...BIG PROBLEM! Also, as noted in the instruction manual, Star Power can only be activated by pressing "Select" and not by titling the guitar and hammer ons and pull offs do not work. At all. Lack of tilt does not bother me. But no hammer ons or pull offs??? Those are essential to playing the game. As others have mentioned, save your money and wait until GH III comes out."

Just bought this at a GameStop brick and mortar store (you can get it from GameStop online as well). This totally works for GH1. Packaging indicates it will work for GH2 which I intend to buy once I get thru GH1 on Normal. I've been waiting for this for nearly 6 months.
@plexus: When using it with GH2, did you switch it to GH2 on the adapter as specified in the documentation?

AS OF THIS TIME NO ADAPTER IS PERFECT.
THIS IS ONE OF THOSE.

Ok.. I purchased two. I have 1 wireless guitar and 1 wired guitar as well as both the games. Reading the instructions, I was said to see that the wammy bar does not work with GH2 (you have to use the select button.) Anyway it did not matter. Guitar Hero 2 does not work with it right anyway. First the Wireless guitar is not even reconized by the adaptor. Secondly, the fret buttons do not work hardly at all. What is the use. I verified that everything was set up correctly, it just did not work. The adaptor has a switch to take it from normal to GH2. So I flip the switch. The guitar came up in GH2 first guitar mode. When trying to play, the adaptor switch modes to second guitar. When I looked that instructions again, you change modes by holding a fret button and using strum. I do not know about you but when I am playing a game, I tend to do this, so BAD call on that one. Overall, since I can't even play GH2 with it, it is totally useless in my book. I am taking them back tomorrow.

Got the PS3 and adapter just to play GH2... Very disappointed in performance. The controls are confusing just to get the guitar working. then I'm noticing just enough of a delay to drive me crazy... then the tilt and hammer on issue... VERY disappointed. I wonder if GH3 will have a native controller. Until then, I feel like going back and getting PS2 just to get the bad taste out of my mouth...
