Wipeout Pulse details bring sexy back to the PSP
If Lumines Live was how not to handle downloadable content, the PSP launch title Wipeout Pure is the poster child of how to. Sony's Studio Liverpool is bringing the hotness back to handhelds this year with Wipeout Pulse and an interview with "designer" (quotes by Eurogamer) Clark Davis shows they haven't exactly been sitting on their hands for the past two yearsBeyond improved controls and alternative track designs, players will be able to create their own campaigns and use their own MP3s for music. The Disruptor weapon, made famous in Wipeout XL is gone and instead replaced with a few new weapons that affect your game by screwing with your HUD or setting your engine ablaze.
Downloadable content will be making a return and if it's anything like Wipeout Pure's, we'll have months worth of content to look forward to past launch.

Pure was one of the few titles fanboys could point to as being a quality game for the PSP during its first year. Now that the PSP has no shortage of good games, I'm wondering how Pulse will hold up. I know I'm getting it.

yeeeeeeeeahh. I'm playing through Pure now to get ready for Pulse. Someone finally listened and we're getting some serious infrastructure support and custom soundtracks. Now I can use the Wipeout, XL and WO 3 soundtracks for Pulse. Swwwweeeet.

Before the PSP bashers show up...
WooT! Bring on Pulse and Wipeout 5.

The only game I truly enjoyed on the PSP. Woo can't wait for more free downloadable tracks!

Wipeout was the reason I bought my PSP, it's the systems best game. This new game will give me a reason to dust off the PSP, kind of like the PS3....

I've recently brought Pure out of the cupboard to play again to get my skills back up to scratch before Pulse hits. Its still a fab game. I bought it with my PSP back in Sept 05.
Looking forward to Wipeout on PS3 too! I own every single Wipeout game right back to the first on PS1(And all the soundtracks on CD that accompany the games). A bit of a Wipeout nut I guess ;)
BTW, Jared... Lumines live isnt a PSP title. Lumines and Lumines II are both WITHOUT flaws on the PSP, you get the full games when you buy them, no hidden costs. Correct your article please. Ta!

Wipeout the best game on PSP? uh...no...change that to Wipeout...one of the best games on PSP. Just for the haters before they show up in force. "wipeout isn't the only good game on PSP"
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror - one of the best tactical games made, one of the best PSP games made and a shining example of how to do third person gaming right on a portable.
Monster Hunter Freedom - one of the best games ever made period.
Wipeout Pure - best Wipeout ever made -bar none.
Lumines - "Tetris" for the turn of the century.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2nd - digital crack
Daxter, Pursuit Force, Burnout (any of them), Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Metal Gear Acid, Tekken 5 DR, Rachet and Clank: SM,
All great games on PSP and I know I'm forgetting a few providing gaming that you can't get on DS.
now...FLAME WARS COMMENCE!!!!!

Why would he have to correct his article? The statement is that if Lumines Live is the way DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT shouldn't be handled, then Wipeout Pure is the poster child on how it should be.
In Lumines Live, most of your modes in the base pack are locked beyond a single stage. These modes were additional purchase packs. Likewise, the base pack only came with 20 skins. Lumines Live was a ripoff.
Wipeout Pure had a shitton of free stuff delivered afterwards,

I never ended up liking Wipeout. It did look pretty, but that was it. The several hundred hours logged on Lumines (if not more) more than made up for that though.

I totally want a PS3 Wipeout. The PSP titles are nice appetizers but a PS3 title that looks like the pre-rendered Desigers Republic CG from the original game would be ace.

WIPEOUT IS THE FOR MANY "THE GAME" OF ALL GAMES !
Cutting edge' clued up design and visuals, alongside some extremly high quality electronic/dance tunes
PURE BLISS !!
BRING IT ON!
