Wrong. Page played a Strat early on. The special features from the live DVD that came out in 2003 show an early performance on a small sound stage and he's playing a Strat with some pretty interesting artwork on there. Their famous years are what showcased the Les Paul.

@sheppy Yeah i have a microkorg too, nice machine. Fender strats are good for getting that 'Gilmore' sound. As a musician i'm offended by these music games. Why dont people just learn to play instruments. I never had a lesson in my life, just takes effort. Many excellent guitar players in music history have never had any official training.

@Jack of No Trades

I dont think The Edge is a lead guitar player, he plays more 'rythm guitar'. When he does play lead, it's absolutly nothing like the other 'guitar gods' you mentioned in your list.

and the guitar player from STRYPER(J?K) :p

I didn't say Page NEVER played a Strat. You imagine wrongly I was implying that. Page played one. But rarely. His trademark usage, his greatest performances and the guitar which he most used was a Les Paul. Nitpick somewhere else.

Good new to me. I've always loved how comfortable the Fender Strat is becuase this will be a controller not an actually guitar, comfort is important.

I've always loved listening to musicians who know how to play a Fender Stratocaster.
Bonnie Raitt
Stevie Ray Vaughan
John Mayer
and ya Eric Clapton

I think you're thinking of Jimi Hendrix, not Jimmy Page. Page was best known for using Les Pauls and SG Double-necks. He did use Telecasters in Zeppelin's early days, but he's never been associated with the Strat- that's not to say he never used one, but it's certainly not what he's known for.

@17- You're fine to call Fender overrated, but I'm sure Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Yngwie Malmsteen, and countless others would disagree with you, and they probably know a little more than either of us about good guitars. And are you sure you want to go with LTD, here? At least go with ESP. And PS: Jackson = Fender now- FMIC bought them a year or too ago.

1) Music games blow. Just learn to play the instrument ffs.

2) Chris Grant suffers from a lack of rock knowledge. Jimmy Page was famous for playing Les Pauls and SG doublenecks, not Strats! n00b!!1!

Why would these brand names cost the developers money? I'd think it'd be the other way around. It's advertisement, as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with Tyrus. Guitar Hero is a huge phenomenon right now. I'd bet Fender paid to be the only guitar referenced in the game.

as much as i love gibons and ibanez, i dont care if its modeled after a fender. its not like its a wooden instrument that will inherit the tonal qualities of the strat. its just fender getting their piece of the pie. as far as im concerned, its neither good nor bad.

and its funny to see the "im upset by people not learning real instruments" argument again. i thought that was all worked out already?

Ewww.....a strat? Vomit. Vomit all over myself. Seriously it's the equivalent of hundred of "newbie"-themed analogies I could make right now. The only people I ever see playing them are highschool kids in punk bands that don't know any better, old people, and those that think by using the type of guitar that their musical idols use they will automatically be guitar gods as well.

I think it has the most limiting and gross sounding tones in history, and had all the "greats" been given the options we are given today, they almost definitely would have chosen otherwise. As others have said, give us an Ibanez, a Les Paul, something with a more diverse sound that can be used in a wider range of music genres, in addition to for the looks- seeing as the type of guitar controller isn't going to effect the tone. I'm just sick and tired of seeing walls and walls of dusty strats in every guitar shop, pyramids of strat starter kits, and highschool kids running around saying cool things like "me too" with their gay swoosh haircuts.

Looks like im going to either use my current GH controllers and just buy the game by itself or wait until the inevitable Metal Band comes out:
Flying V, Les Paul, Ibanez(only one famous shape really lol), Warwick, etc.

Meshuggah
Pantera
(insert a bunch of 80's cock rock metal here)
Slayer
(no, metallica is not allowed, nor would they even let them use the songs unless it was a metallica game)
Lamb of God
Unearth
By Night
Nevermore
BULB/Periphery(Misha Mansoor stuff)
Fredrick Thordendal's Special Defects
Soilwork
Sikth
Dillinger ESC Plan
Etc.

(left my flame shield at home so im going to just not come back and visit the comments)

Well I have been wishing for this as I love me them fenders but damnit...If I knew there could only be one big brand,Why cant all the companies be represented?...Its just a game people its not like its going to make your instruments look bad,I'd like to see atleast 5 different brands in the game...why limit it to one? thats quite boring to be honest, and this is coming from a strat owner.

You know, you get +20 cool points for being a fellow MicroKorg owner. But you lose several points for being offended by music games. Seriously, they're fun. Hell, in Lumines II, I'm constantly making my own skins. And sometimes you just want to tool around and create music like in Amplitude.

For example? By the time I boot up and sync Orion Platinum, Battery 3, the MicroKorg, the Radium 49, and the Trigger Finger, I've already lost about a half an hour. I use the MicroKorg to lay down the basic tones but then I bring in the Radium when I want more precision or when I want Mixer Table style functionality in my fingers. And finally, the trigger finger is used for the drumkits. All in all, before I even get 1 minute worth of music I consider usable, I've already jammed and cranked for about 2 hours. And no, don't ask for sample of my music, it sucks so I don't share.

And as for the drumset company,That probably falls under roland too since they make uber awesome electronic drumsets. Most people cant even name a top drumset brand off the top of their head anyway and if they do its pearl or yamaha. Roland would work though...

Just another way to Jack up the price on games; by putting on a Fender sticker which does nothing to add to the game. Hell, you don't even need fender to make a strat. The "Radio Shack" brand can make a sunburst strat-style electric guitar. What the hell do you need Fender for? Is it gonna sound better? better quality virtual pickups? Such a joke.

WRONG. It's actually a Fender Telecaster he played early on (and on the DVD) NOT a Stratocaster. He played the Tele on the first album, and about half of Led Zeppelin II

whats the big deal? c'mon its not even a real guitar for christ's sake! its not like it'll affect your sound. and you and I know that your gonna go out and get your mom to spend the $200 on the game and when you open it, the first thing you'll bitch about is the microphone or the drums or whatever. and to the people who said that people should just forget it and pick up a real guitar, thats bullshit. not everybody can afford the luxury of playing real guitar. this is a fun way of playing air guitar. i cant believe people are OFFENDED by the game. Dudes.. listen: CHILL THE FUCK OUT ITS A GAME.
