We imagine it's not uncommon for soldiers to long for the battlefields of their youth, the place where they grew up and became part of a tightly-knit fighting force. Despite the adage,
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 players feeling those pangs can actually go home again, thanks to the 800-point ($10) "Throwback Pack" which whisks them from their modern battleground of Mexico on a nostalgic trip to Kazakhstan, the Korean Peninsula and ... well, other parts of Mexico.
There are seven "remastered"
Ghost Recon maps in the pack, which is available now. That's all the information we get from the blade description but
IGN says that they're drawn from
Ghost Recon 2,
GR 2: Summit Strike and
GRAW 1. So, how about it
GRAW fans? Is a trip down Memory Lane and a fresh hit of tactical action worth a ten spot?

You get to play as Salt N Pepa in GRAW2? Clearly I've been missing out.

I just wish they would fix the game before trying to sell more content. I guess now I know why we have not had a fix for all of these multi-player bugs. They were too busy working on these maps.
Viridium @ May 9th 2007 9:55AM
F*ck that. They ripped me off with the GRAW1 pack, they're not going to get me again. If I'm not paying $10 for actual new maps in GoW, I'm sure as hell not paying the same for rehashed crap in GRAW2.
Voting with my wallet. Suck it, Ubi!

Yeah, fix bugs before making new content!
Blizz4l9 @ May 9th 2007 10:16AM
i'm glad they have these maps, I'll happily download them, you guys whine too much, you dont have to download the maps if you don't want them. I don't have any issues with any bugs in GRAW 2, the only bug i've ever noticed was the mic not always workin and i havent had that issue for awhile now.

As long as the maps have been suitably enhanced, I don't see any problem with someone spending £6.80 for seven maps. That's just under a quid a map, which is the rate I think should be standard. We can be annoyed at four GoW maps for 800MSP that the developers wanted to be free. We can be annoyed at three Guitar Hero 2 tracks for 500Mp... but I don't think we can really be too annoyed with seven remastered GRAW maps for 800MSP.
Of course if they're not well made...

Well, I went and bought them to check them out, and I'm not that excited. No new co-op of course, so if you're heavily into online 'versus' it may be for you, but otherwise, I don't know if they're any good to me for anything other than new 'elimination' or 'helo hunt' levels.
I'm not mad at the value for $10, it's just not a good investment for me and the way I play GRAW2 online with my friends. More co-op please...

AHAHA. I love the pictures this web blog uses for their entries.

Cool. Good to see they have time to make map packs but can't fix their gamebreaking freeze ( http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3291043913/m/3601038745/p/1 )
Blizz4l9 @ May 9th 2007 1:48PM
It seems like a pretty rare problem tavis, also does anyone know which maps from GRAW are on this map pack?
bdog @ May 9th 2007 11:22PM
It would be even better if they would remaster some maps from the WAY old school maps of Ghost Recon (the first one)- Yes that is where embassy is from. There were some pretty sweet maps from that era. The bugs are getting kind of old, half the time, it takes me a freakin hour just to get into a game. kinda kills the mood.
