Mario and Luigi hats invade your couch

Just to be clear here, they're not hats ... they are cushions shaped like hats. Meaning you can't put them on your head and run around, jumping over things as you see fit.
No, these are decorative couch cushions meant to enhance your living space, and also shout to the world about your love for retro games. This will put you into the cool crowd, and you'll have something soft to rest your head on when it's time for sleep.

I wouldn't call Mario retro, but these look fluffy nonetheless.

Mario games are retro? it's almost as if you're implying Nintendo stopped milking the Mario franchise.
:)
Ken @ May 9th 2007 7:51PM
Took till post 2 to take a hit at Nintendo. Joystiq's hit a new low. ;)

>Took till post 2 to take a hit at Nintendo.
how was that a hit? was I wrong about what I said? :)
Ken @ May 9th 2007 8:03PM
Still a hit. :)
kingofwale @ May 9th 2007 8:07PM
they could've just stopped the milking. ;)

Nintendo makes Mario games. Mario games make Nintendo money. Give me one reason why Nintendo would stop making Mario games. Just one will do.
"Meaning you can't put them on your head and run around, jumping over things as you see fit."
Oh yeah? Try and stop me.

who said they should stop? They make them, people buy them. everybody's happy.
But why should I stop taking shots (like Ken called it) at the obvious milking? :)
well, at least this thing fit on your head. unlike some Helmet from a certain game brand that is too small for your head. :) *cough*Halo3*cough
Rubang B @ May 9th 2007 8:22PM
You can take all the shots you want. I just think taking them at Mario is kinda awkward when Sonic or Mega Man are much more appropriate. People are actually looking forward to the next Mario game.

Eventually milking becomes "phoning it in."
See also: Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine.
I hope they learned their lesson.

Actually, Sonic and Megaman didn't appear in every genre there ever is on a Console. You can disagree if you want, but Mario is the most milked character in video game.
and what's the fun at kicking Sonic when it's already dying in some corner? that's just cruel. :)

Mega Man Soccer?

Mega Man: The Power Battle?

Sonic the Fighters?
Sonic Pinball Party?
Sonic Riders?
Rubang B @ May 9th 2007 9:29PM
Now let's compare:
Mega Man Soccer and Super Mario Strikers.
Mega Man: The Power Battle, Sonic the Fighters, Smash Bros. Melee.
Mega Man Battle & Chase, Sonic Riders, and any Mario Kart.
Although Sonic Spinball was better than Mario Pinball Land, neither held a candle to Kirby's Pinball Land on the original Game Boy.

Mario lottery?

"Mega Man Soccer and Super Mario Strikers.
Mega Man: The Power Battle, Sonic the Fighters, Smash Bros. Melee.
Mega Man Battle & Chase, Sonic Riders, and any Mario Kart."
When you look at this list, isn't their something that stands out to you? Like the fact that all the Mario-related games are actually good AND sell extremely well?

I recently bought a couch and put it in my room. These would look cool for my couch. But my geek factor is already through the roof. Mainly because I have a couch and home theater in my bedroom heh.
Adam @ May 9th 2007 11:16PM
Psh. Call me back when they start making a Wario-cap cushion.
Psaakyrn @ May 10th 2007 12:59AM
You also forgot the Megaman card game, Megaman toy sets (as opposed to random megaman figurines and McDonalds toys, which also exists), Megaman pinball machine (not computer game), and I'm reasonable sure there's a megaman boardgame as well...
Psaakyrn @ May 10th 2007 1:07AM
Oh, and for generic sports, Sonic's apparently joining forces with Mario for that. No generic sports for Megaman yet as far as I know though. Megaman might take a sport for 3PS, depending on how much you consider sunshine to be a 3PS..
But for other genres Mario is in:
Basketball
Baseball
Dance/rhythm
Edutainment
Creation program (in this case, music and paint)
(depending of you consider Donky Kong) Arcade
Puzzle
I'm sure there're others, if I can remember them..
Todd @ May 10th 2007 9:22AM
Very cool. Would look good on my couch.
Tim @ May 13th 2007 8:27AM
Damnit, cushions are great and all, but I wanted a real hat. An official real-life mario hat would be like +1000 geek points.
