Playing the demo on the 360, I was actually surprised how well it controlled. Having the analogs parallel on the ps3 might changes things a little, but I doubt it will be a drastic difference.

Sounds interesting, I hope it comes to pass.

As for fanboyism, Joystiq should create a page where you can register as a fan/hater of [named system(s)] with a few reasons why you hate/love it/them. That would make things easier to track.

Mr Rocker @#1, I have a fiver that says Jack will hate within 20 posts.

@Kye

What if you're a fan of some parts of a system and a hater of others?

What if you like all systems, but currently feel one is a superior gaming platform? I was a Nintendo prefererer through N64. I thought the PS2 was best last gen. This gen the 360 has been best so far and is best right now.

I'm a flipflopper. But Joystiq definately brings out whatever elements of fanboyism I do have. There is a difference, though, from posting a thought out criticism of a system and or defending a system from criticism or going to every single thread and regurgitating the same poop over and over.

Personally, I think if you are just repeating something for the 5th or more-th time, you should just practice some self control and move on. On Joystiq, it is pretty obvious which systems get the most poo slung at them. Just go to an average Wii, PS3, or 360 thread and compare them.

The demo on the 360 is solid and I'm going to be picking this one up after I get down with class for the week on thursday and play all weekend :). Controls were pretty easy and I had a lot of fun with it online. PS3 version should be similar if they take the time to do a decent port.

I can't imagine playing this on the wii though. Even an SD tv would be a little bit hard I think because of the smaller size of some of the infantry units makes them hard to tell the difference between them, which can be a big deal. They would have to default the camera closer to the units so you could see them better.

@ AirIntake

exactly, the majority of us are not fanboys (even if, like myself, we only own one brand)

I can acknowledge the glories of the Wii and its numerous Shames, same for the other guys

as for this, it would be good to see more "serious" third party games on the Wii, and it is the ideal RTS platform...

@ Jake

I think that haters come out for all the threads, but that Wii's haters are more vocal and determined

I mean, in articles about the 360, you get a mention of RROD, in an article about PS3, derogatory price quotes are mentioned, or someone goes "Riiiiidge Racerrrr!" And graphics/ GameCube references will inevitably surface in the Wii threads

That's the good thing and the bad thing about the internet; If you love something incredibly obscure or controversial, you can find comrades, but you can find people who hate the most mainstream and beloved things, as well.

I don't know. Until I can add in things like suicide bomber motorcycles, seige tanks, crableg perimeter cannons, and Ultra Pipi to a console RTS... I prefer the PC method.

Half the fun of PC games is seeing what everyone else does. I wonder how easy C&C3 is to hack because I must admit, creating an Anime based RTS intriques me.

"He also said that Wii's sales make it difficult to ignore and worth investigating."

Well no kidding. Here we can sell a few hundred thousand units or we can sell millions! GEE!

@Mr. Khan

How can you say the wii is the ideal platform for RTS? One, there has yet to be an RTS on the wii so it's hard to say how good or bad the controls would be, one can speculate but I think it would be hard if not annoying trying to wave the wiimote that precisely. No one can say for sure, and certainly not you. For it to be ideal it would have to outperform the PC which is extremely unlikely. Also, parts of the game will have to be adjusted so as it can run properly on the wii. Many peoples version of ideal does not include inferior graphics and a possible hit on AI or even a possible drop in the amount of vehicles you can create. I just don't see the wii as the "ideal" platform at all and unless the controls were absolutely phenomenal, which it is impossible to say how they will be, I would say the wii would be my personal least favorite system to play it on. First being PC, then followed by either 360 or PS3.

Playing C&C3 on anything other than the PC is rather stupid, sorry. Just the same with most other RTSes, FPSes and WRPGs.

I love the fact that as soon as Mr Kahn starts talking about people making derogatory Wii graphics comments, someone immediately has to go and make exactly that comment.

LongshotX, have you considered the fact that a large amount, possibly even the majority of 360 owners are using SDTVs? In the US HD penetration is around 20%, and amoung people who own a hardcore console like the 360 it's probably quite a bit higher. In any case, there are without a doubt a great many people that will be using a 360 to play it on an SDTV, so a Wii version is certainly possible, and nowhere near as bad as it sounds.

I agree, and C&C is a fast pacing game, unless you have precision control (and we all know how precise those Wiimotes are), you are screwed. just look at xbox owners getting their butts kicked on C&C online.

LotR worked well because it's a much slower pacing game.

CnC worked well way back on the Saturn so it should be amazing on the Wii.

Yeah should be good on the Wii. They probably need to revamp the graphics though to make it look nice at 480p. Trying to cram in hi-def res to 480p won't look good.

But the Wii pointer will make it fun to play. Maybe better than the pc in some ways. The ability to scroll the map with the nunchuk and point and click on units with the Wii pointer sounds like it would feel really good. PUt some icons at the top for control groups. The ability to point and click through menus quickly would also work really well with the wiimote.

Of course EA will do a half-ass port. But if they really put some effort into it then it could be big. And it would be a big coup for the Wii as it's hardcore game that really could play alot better on the system.
