Rumor: Jessica Biel as Chun-Li in Street Fighter flick

Say what?! LatinoReview.com claims to have a casting scoop that pits Jessica Biel as Chun-Li in the upcoming film adaptation of Street Fighter. Since the film will apparently focus on the Chinese-born Interpol agent turned 'World Warrior' contestant, the creators are after a star that can deliver a roundhouse kick -- and look sexy while doing it. (CGI will handle the ol' Hyakuretsukyaku.) It appears that the casting department didn't bother to sift through Hollywood's stagnant pool of Chinese -- or even passable as Chinese -- actresses; so no, Ming-Na will not be reprising the role. Although Keira Knightley and Jessica Alba were alleged targets, both turned down the potentially career-damaging part. Now Hyde Park Entertainment and Fox are supposedly after Biel.

As rumors go this one is absurd. But that's better than if the claim was true ... 'cause then it would be offensive. What's next? Sam Jackson as Ryu? Capcom, please keep this project in check and hush these awful lies. They are lies, right...?

There are plenty of hot Chinese females with huge chests, and even then those can often be augmented through artificial means. Hollywood just isn't trying enough. Jessica Biel is nice looking and she should be playing Cammy.

Let's me get this straight...Another live action Street Fighter movie after the last one sucked to all levels of hell and Ryu isn't the lead but Chun Li is? Am I the only one that thought the Street Fighter story was...I dunno....trash? Thinking of this reminds me of the DOA movie. How'd that turn out?

The Chinese language has a pretty distinct 'L' sound, but no separate 'R' sound. By contrast, Japanese spoken communication tends to run the 'D' and 'L' and 'R' sounds together into one common sound at the back of the throat that sounds like 'R' only. So a Chinese actor would have no problem saying the name Chun Li, if only because that's an actual Chinese name. As long as you want to split hairs about it.

Street Fighter: The Animated Movie is still the best SF movie to date. SF: Alpha had better animation, but the story was complete and utter bullocks.

A live action SF is just asking for problems (again).

She should play as Cammy, but non-gamers (and former gamers) remember Chun-Li more than Cammy. Regardless if this a video-game movie, they want the movie to appeal toward EVERYONE, so a no-name Chinese girl with a big rack (plenty of them for sure) doesn't exactly put faith in executives hopes of filling the theater seats. Sex sells. Familiar sex (Biel, Alba, unfortunately J. Simpson) sells even more.

I fully approve of any and all White jokes (and since the French are part of "white," that includes them, too).

Race is a joke, if you ask me. Seperation of people just because of where their ancestry lies, or the color of their skin. So, we might as well make fun of all races.

Biel's sexy, but she's an ill choice for Chun-Li. Someone who's Asian (a Chinese woman would be preferred, but someone of any Asian descent would fill the role to the general populus's eyes) should be picked.

Come on people let's not get all worked up over a rumor that may or may not be true. I couldn't care less who they got to play Chun-Li or any other character in the movie. Mostly because how many video game movies haven't sucked? I could count them on one hand, the only ones I kinda liked were the Resident Evil ones and Silent Hill. Yes Jessica Biel isn't the best choice for Chun-Li but I doubt that even if they got Lucy Lu for the part it would make a flea's Fart worth of difference.

Video game story lines don't really lend themselves to being fleshed out into a two hour long movie. Yes I like to play House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark but please don't make a movie about them because they would su..... Oh wait never mind.

What about Devon Aoki from 2 Fast and 2 furious. Jessica Biel wouuld make great Cammy but as Chun Li that would ruin the movie even more than the fact that it is another live action Street Fighter movie. Even though Samueul L Jackson as Ryu would be worth the price of admission if they have Mike Tyson as Balrog and and The Great Khali as Zangief.

Combat skills can be taught, so Michelle Krusiec (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Krusiec) would be great as Chun Li. She's a great actor and her English is perfect.

If you want combat experience, then Michlle Yeoh would also be a fantastic Chun Li. Obviously with Chun Li's back story as an experienced Interpol agent, it's not necessary to have an actor in their twenties. In fact, it probably makes LESS sense.

Let me say I'm not racist.

But;

Chun Li is Chinese, they can get a chinese actress. There are 1 billion chinese people and your telling me they can't find ONE frickin actress? ONE!?
It's worse than when they got that fake-as$ Jamaican guy in the first street fighter.
I say if it's good enough to be made into a film, dont change it! Keep the actors of the correct nationality of their characters. Or at least near-enough.

As for the French, thats not racist as I didn't specify that I didn't like black-french or white-french or any french-race. France, as a whole, generally rubs me the wrong way. They are offically the most disliked country in Europe so they must be rubbing alot of people the wrong way.

HAHAHAHAH, Tom Cruise lives with the samurai for 5 minutes and all of a sudden he could handle a katana as good as some of their best men. Bullshit I says. Hollywood fantasy writing at its best. The Last Samurai turned out to be some white guy and the Emperor turn out to be a bitch. The future definately looked up for Japan in that film.

Who should play Chun Li? Maggie Cheung. I know she a bit older but she still looks good and can handle a fight scene damn well. Far better than Jessica Biel. Maggie also proved she can act...watch Clean.

I have no idea why Keira Knightley would even be considered. She can look cute sometimes, but the girl has no meat on her bones, and certainly nothing in the chest department to fill out the Chun-Li wardrobe.
