Rumor: Sega Vintage Collection heading for Xbox 360

If an Xbox 360 site based in the Netherlands is to be believed, then Sega has a "Vintage Collection" bound for that console. It'll contain at least Sonic the Hedgehog, and we're hoping some other classic titles. One question bugs us though, what took them so long?
Although our Dutch is rusty, we sent the website through a translator and got this poetry, "That Sonic the Hedgehog arrives there we let us not know all, but that the game under the SEGA vintage collection falls." Words to live by. Check out the site for more images, and we'll try to get a list of what other titles this might include.

Sonic is the greatest. My favorite of all.
bocaj_patton @ May 9th 2007 4:04PM
lol at the translation.
I'm looking forward to this. Hopefully those nethlanders aren't just making stuff up.
gullum @ May 9th 2007 4:08PM
Whats with their background trying to look like the XMB?

"You don't have to be an Einstein for this; a collection is a "gathering" of multiple items - in this case games. In other words, SEGA is cooking up something very good for Xbox Live Arcade. The fact that Sonic The Hedgehog's coming is well known, but not that it's part of the "SEGA vintage collection".
At this moment SEGA hasn't officially announced it yet, but the screens speak for themselves."
Translation (Yeah I'm Dutch)

Haven't we known for a while that Sonic the Hedgehog was coming to XBLA?
Something tells me that Sega has more older games planned for XBLA arcade, and the "Sega Vintage Collection" is more of a branding for the series as opposed to a new compliation on a stand-alone disc.
bearxor @ May 9th 2007 4:21PM
Damn Max beat me to it, but yeah I agree with him (obviously).

Let's see the leaderboard for Rocket Knight!
JodyAnthony @ May 9th 2007 4:25PM
jeez, that UI is terrible.
SuMtOnE @ May 9th 2007 4:25PM
Don't Sega already have this already called Sega Genesis Collection?
PhrawzT @ May 9th 2007 4:37PM
Sega needs to bring Streets of Rage II to Xbox live. I would buy that in an instant.
Ninegauger @ May 9th 2007 4:39PM
I thought they'd given up Sonic on XBLA after how poorly the console game sold... probably a good idea to remind us when Sonic was the coolest thing ever.

How much are they gonna charge for this? Whatever it is, it'll be a bit of a ripoff considering you could just pick up this:
http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=950624
17 classic Sonic games at that price is a steal. As long as it runs on the 360 (Which, I'm not certain it does), why would you bother getting this virtual version? Sure leaderboards are kinda cool, but this used version of a hits collection is a much better deal and you get to own the physical copy.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for old games be put in virtual form but this is getting absurd. The consumers are being resold the same products over and over and over and over again at inflated prices that don't make sense.
I saw a Capcom collection of classic games used for around seven or eight bucks and it contained several games that would and are being resold for that single price alone. There were something like 20 games on it, and one was Street Fighter.
At least it isn't as bad as the Wii's pump and dump system of overcharging for ROMs without any online play component and no support for memory packs with the 64 versions. These XBL games may be a bit unfair, but Nintendo really takes the cake when it comes to shitty business model and screwing the consumer.

"Sega: All the rights move"
hmm.
samfish @ May 9th 2007 5:29PM
That translation is absolutely epic.
Anyway, yeah. You can get a lot of these games a lot cheaper in compilation form used already. I guess if you care about leader boards and such then knock yourself out, though.
superberg @ May 9th 2007 5:40PM
I call fake. The background looks like they zoomed in on Sony's XMB.
Bill Gates @ May 9th 2007 5:40PM
I smell PhotoShop shop work here. The BackGround wave's look like they came from the PlayStation 3.
ferrarimanf355 @ May 9th 2007 6:53PM
If this has Daytona USA, I'll bite. ^_^
Joshua @ May 9th 2007 7:10PM
Not with that D-Pad am I playing these games!
Diskoboy @ May 9th 2007 9:00PM
I can sum up what games I'd like to see in two words.
Saturn Bomberman.
WITH online play.
Derick @ May 14th 2007 8:48PM
Vintage Collection? Virtual Console?
ZOMG.
I call fake.
Just because it would be exactly in the humor of a prankster to give it the same initials.
and really? Don't we already have this sonic remade somewhere already?
Cuja @ May 10th 2007 2:09AM
Afterburner series would be really sweet, especially the Japanese PS2 version.
Hugh Mann @ May 10th 2007 8:59AM
This has already been de-bunked, and sega have confirmed that they have nothing to do with this.

program so you see more on the left and right. In other words make the game widescreen somehow without stretching it. They can do that right? It is possible right? That's what I would like to see done.
mbaltazar @ May 11th 2007 2:39AM
Crazy Taxi, plis?
