Spielberg's Wii project to be released before April 2008
Electronic Arts said in a conference call today that the Steven Spielberg-helmed Wii project will be released during the upcoming fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2008. This would likely make the Wii project, dubbed "Wii Spielberg" in the conference call, his first of three games planned to be released.Regarding Spore's delay, EA's recently-returned CEO John Riccitiello said that though it might come out at the end of the fiscal year, it is more likely to be pushed until the following quarter, which puts the release date sometime before July 1, 2008.
The Spielberg Wii project is said to join other Army of Two, SKATE, EA Playground and Boogie as original IPs being released this fiscal year. In terms of quantity of release, EA said that they are planning around 20-23 games for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, 10-13 for Nintendo DS and 10-13 for the Wii.

20-23 next game games.. 10-12 Wii games and they are calling this the "...Wii Project"?
Just because Wii is riding high right now. I'm sure Wii fans just looove being taking advantage of.
Make them quality games, not just quantity.

"10-12 Wii games and they are calling this the "...Wii Project"?"
Umm... it's the Stephen Spielberg game we're talking about as a Wii project, not *all* EA games. Nice try, troll.

@kingofwale
Sorry... my mistake... I misunderstood what you said...

I love it when threads break out into music.

Given Spielberg's existing relationship with Lucasarts, why would he partner with EA to produce such a game? I would be willing to give this unnamed product a fair chance if it weren't associated with that company.

Could this be it? The item EVERY gamer on earth has waited for for more than 20 years??
Will the FAMOUS E.T. GAME BE BROUGHT TO VIRTUAL CONSOLE so everyone can relive one of the greatest gaming experiences ever, thanks to the magic of Spielberg?
However I feel the VC does not do ET justice since
1. You cannot cry on and burn a "virtual" game
2. The guns might be replaced with flashlights
3. They can't charge negative points in the wii store.
Rubang B @ May 9th 2007 3:55PM
It's going to be an E.T. FPS.
JodyAnthony @ May 9th 2007 3:56PM
I have a factory sealed copy of 2600 ET sitting on my coffee table at home as a conversation piece.

Is that how you're supposed to play it? If so, it looks dreadful.
Jonathan Tran @ May 9th 2007 3:59PM
@17 SELL IT BEFORE THE MARKET VALUE PLUMMETS, WHEN THIS GAME COMES TO VC expect PRICES TO DROP TO ALMOST NEGATIVE $4

Dear Mr. Speilberg,
Since video games tend to suck when Hollywood gets involved, just call it "1941" so we'll all know what to expect.

"Just because Wii is riding high right now. I'm sure Wii fans just looove being taking advantage of."
This coming from the guy who worships a $600 machine that's failing in nearly every market. I guess if one person knew about being taken advantage of, it'd be you, kow.
"Umm... it's the Stephen Spielberg game we're talking about as a Wii project, not *all* EA games. Nice try, troll."
Damn, you beat me to it. Oh well, the troll got stepped on yet again (kow has been squashed quite a few times on PS3Fanboy.com).
Kye @ May 9th 2007 5:24PM
I hope these will be the "big-budget" masterpiece epics that the Wii needs.
I'm playing drums by the way!... should you realise that I'm not actually any good at the drums, I can still do a mean whistle.
Xp

@ #9 Samfish,
I bet this will reach at least 70 comments [spam-mode on]
@ #16 Rubang
That's the comment of the day.
By the way I never did say thank you for the Miis. Thank you.
samfish @ May 9th 2007 5:35PM
"It's going to be an E.T. FPS."
That WOULD be awesome, but I'm still waiting for a game where you can shoot your Mii's first.
...and it shall be called:
SHOOT MII! SHOOT MII NOW!

"The Spielberg Wii project is said to join other Army of Two, SKATE, EA Playground and Boogie as original IPs being released this fiscal year."
I love how EA is so desperate to prove that they have original IP they're calling stuff like, "Tony Hawk Clone" and "Dance Dance Revolution on the Wii only with a different name" original IPs.

He's not using the strap. It will be lodged in his TV.

Frankly I no longer listen to hype or whos in a dev team to many short sighted cash in games have ruined my outlook on gaming as a whole I have some hope for bioshock but meh..like hollywood the industry likes making games for tweens(12-20) because they don't mind buying shallow crap.
Out of all the new games I have gotten my hands on Infernal is so bad its good(the dialog alone is humorus),FF12 is not pompous you have to like to like it BS like 8,10,X-2 and 11 they still need more unique skills for each character I miss the FF4/6 days oh ya I liked the Alpha Prime demo other than that the rest of the stuff i have tried lately is just lacking.
