Condemned 2 announced, with multiplayer, for PS3 and Xbox 360
Lock your doors and turn off all the lights. Sega has announced that a sequel to Monolith's Condemned is coming early 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. (There is no mention of a PC version in the press release.)In Condemned 2: Bloodshot, you reprise your role as former investigator Ethan Thomas as he is called back to duty to find his missing partner. According to the press release, the game boasts an all-new fighting system that incorporates defensive and offensive combos, grapples and holds, as well as an "all-new set of high-tech forensic tools."
Most interesting is the addition of online multiplayer, including a deathmatch mode, among others. Sega promises "the most brutal hand-to-hand combat experience the first person genre has ever seen." The original Condemned, a launch title for the Xbox 360 now available at bargain prices, was generally well-received by critics (including us).

not that I'm complaining that PS3 is getting some games, but this game should stay on xbox, it would bring in more hardcore fans AND the team can focus on 1 consoles instead of 2.
I would HATE for a game to be ruined because it went mulitplatform.

kingofwale: don't think going multiplatform ever "ruined" a game (except the GameBoy Advance port of F.E.A.R.).

I loved the original Condemned and I'm glad they are making this sequel despite the underwhelming popularity of the first one. Instant buy for me.

I'm sure you covered GTAIV's interview right?
Of course, it's hard to judge the idea of 'ruined', I mean, you'd never know what it could've potentially be if it hadn't gone multi. But when you hear developers complain about it, you know it's something they would have reconsider.

and I apologize for the grammatic errors, I am on the phone and typing with one hand.

2008. Get here NOW.

There's a GBA version of F.E.A.R.?! Dear christ does that ever not sound like a good thing.

I can't wait. This was in my opinion, THE best launch game out for the 360.
While, I'm mostly an online player, this single player game definitely held my attention. I hope that the online component will not detract from the single player and story mode.
Definitely a buy based on previous experience.

Mr Grant, despite that it's his job to be unbiased, was just take a cheap shot at the PS3 version of FEAR... saying how its graphic is not as good as xbox's.
It is true, but look at the video of side by side comparison and tell me if it's really GBA-graded

Eh,if you ask me they should have just left this game without a sequel. Everything needs a GD sequel these days. Dead Rising and Condemned should have remained one game in my opinion.
FOR3MAN @ May 10th 2007 4:10PM
This game is vastly under rated, even more so as it was a launch game for 360. More chill than an other game I've ever played. Resident Evil, Silent Hill, ect can't even touchh it

"the most brutal hand-to-hand combat experience the first person genre has ever seen."
Is Jack Thompson going to refer to this as an ass kicking simulator?

You know if they ever pulled the PS3 version, your PS3 brethren would kill you.

I was just wondering about a sequel because this was a really fun (creepy) game and I would indeed enjoy another.

kingofwale: Wow. You should wear a helmet out of the house.

I'm excited for this, as the first Condemned was amazing, but I'm fairly sure the multiplayer is being put in to make people think there's more game there. Most complaints about the first involved it's relative brevity and the lack of multiplayer, though mulitplayer wouldn't really have fit in my opinion. One thing I would say is that Sega will probably delay the PS3 version by an extra month or two, if the last Sonic game and F.E.A.R. are any indication.

And it's official... even Joystiq staff is burninating the king. My day has been made.

I look forowrd to this game. I loved the 1st. The idea of the online mutiplayer sounds like it would be fun too. If you think about it the system would probly work prety well if you did it right.
The thing I worry about is, are they changeing the forcues of the game play? The 1st was all about timeing your blocks and blows. Bassicly a game of chess in away. But with these new "defensive and offensive combos, grapples and holds", does this mean Bloodshot will end up the worlds 1st "First Person Butten Smasher?"
Lucky @ May 10th 2007 5:38PM
I forgot to mention. I was kinda hopeing that if they did do another game, they would ues unrealted caraters or something. Oh well, as long as the story is as abstract and creepy as the 1st, I got no complantes.
=D

all i can say is:
%#$@ing sweet!
but why is ethan back? i thought he went mad at the truck stop?

I really don't think this is the type of game that multiplatform technical limitations will hurt. It isn't exactly a tech powerhouse.
This is THE scariest game I've ever played. My recommendation to PS3 and 360 owners that missed the first one would be to buy it. They should probably pack the game with a pair of black underwear, if you catch my drift. This game is so freaky it almost isn't even fun. That makes it awesome :)
Sidepocket @ May 11th 2007 11:52PM
Ok, I am so glad this game is getting a sequin but....why not on Wii.
I do not care if they have to down rez everything to PS2 quality or use an older engine. If Godfather taught me anything, as long as you have a game that looks decent but you can fully beat the shit out of people with the controllers, then graphics truly do not matter.
