The reason this is PS2 exclusive (I'm guessing) is because of the extra content on the XBOX360 version of GH2. So they wanted to give some extra content to the PS2 users as well.

Alright. the game needs more modern music like A7X, System Of A Down, Hinder, Metallica, AC/DC and shit like that. not the gay music that we listen to with our parents. and yeah. i AM still going to buy this game but its just a dissappointment. sure the bands are great and i dont wanna insult the nerds who like em but STILL. those songs arent fun. if this company wants to REALLY make money, then how about putting songs that actual teenagers will recognize instead of losers who dont have lives and lived back then.
Im out.

Hair metal. Listen, I realize pop and hair metal are the first things that come to someone's mind if that someone lived in the 80s. I didn't. I would much rather prefer to see some real metal, even if most of it was underground at the time. No one gives a crap anymore about Quiet Riot's "Metal Health" album, even if it was extremely popular in its time. Metallica's "Master of Puppets", on the other hand, is now considered a classic, despite the fact that it was not a huge hit when it came out.

I would've been happier to see "We Rock" instead of "Holy Diver", but what can you do.

Seriously. "We Rock" is goddamn amazing. Whenever I air guitar and pretend I'm playing a sold-out concert it's that song.

Also, at Prashant Jayaraman: just because you don't give a crap about Quiet Riot doesn't mean that a) they didn't have good music or b) it won't be fun to play. I personally am ecstatic about playing the old songs that my dad and I used to listen to, and only hope that Boston is involved.

And at Callie: um, the name of the game is Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s. System of a Down and Avenged Sevenfold weren't around back then, son, and I couldn't be happier. Finally, a GH game full of classics, not goddamn Beast and the Harlot.

Ugh.

At Judas Hendrix.
SOAD have BEEN around genius.
And yeah. i KNOW what the game is called. But thats not my point. They should do modern rock songs THEN classic rock songs. i wasnt worried about the dang title. So, instead of trying to sound all knowing try getting my point before trashing at me first.
MY opinion shouldnt matter to you anyway.
So go get screwed.

@Callie

if you want them to play more modern rock then why do you water down your comment by adding bands such as AC/DC, and Metalica to the list?

if they add both AC/DC and Matalica, what songs do you think they will put into a Guitar Hero game?

if they added AC/DC to any guitar hero song these are probobly the songs that would be considered

Problem Child (1976)
Highway to Hell (1979)
Back in Black (1981)
Shook Me all Night Long (1981)
For Those About to Rock (1981)

hardly modern, and several of ACDC's hits are possibly going to be on the disk (why people criitisize the list as a hole when less then 25% of the songs are announced I have no idea)

as for matalica most if not all of their hit songs come from the mid 80's to early 90's, with again several of their songs in the range to possibly be in the game the metalica CD's that came out in the 80's are Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice for All, the Black album was released in 91, with load and reload in 96 and 97 respectivly

neither of these bands are anything near what i would call modern rock and are infact often considered by many to be new clasic rock and as such closer to the type of songs you are advocating against them adding to Guitar Hero games

as for my oppinion of bands that will likely be added

ACDC (they are a big part of clasic rock and songs such as back in black and highway to hell are too good to pass up in an 80's rock compulation)

Bon Jovi: (cmon do you really think they will pass up the chance for a song like Living on a Prayer? or You Give Love a Bad Name?

Eddy Money: for Take Me Home Tonight, if for no other reason

Journey: again, how could they pass up Don't Stop Believing

there will likely be a lot of hair bands on the disk, lets face it, hair metal was a huge part of the 80's (and lets face it, if you were alive back then you enjoyed it as much as the rest of us so stop pretending you didn't)

What are you people talking about? a-ha have an extremely gifted guitarist in Paul Waaktaar-Savoy. Oh, I'm sorry if you're not familiar with anything beyond "Take On Me," but as a fan with over 270 songs by them, I think I know what I'm saying.

And if you don't think New Order's Barney is a good guitarist, then you're on something. Maybe on the same thing Joy Division's Ian Curtis was on...Where's "Love Will Tear Us Apart"?

And Robert Smith of The Cure is great, as well. And ditto for Johnny Marr of The Smiths.

Yes, I am a huuuge New Wave fan (even if The Smiths are seen as anti-New Wave), and I know that the genre was known more for its synthesizer usage than anything else (okay, maybe the androgynous fashion and the hair), but guitar was also an omnipresent entity.

Postpunk/New Wave is the end-all music genre, fools.

Smookey77: There actually is a big-ass poll taking place as we speak somewhere on the internets, where you can add up to 50 of the songs you want to see in GH3 (last I checked, "Master of Puppets" was #1, followed by "Back in Black"). I wish I could link you but I added my choices about four months ago and promptly forgot the address.

Also, to Tony: I'd kill to have "Runaway" by Bon Jovi on this tracklist. Damn that was a fine song. Also, more Rush! Please!

@ Tony.
I couldnt think of anymore bands good enough for guitar hero so i just named a couple more i liked. =]
I still think that there should be a Guitar Hero with modern rock and stuff. Or punk or metal. Those kinds of songs are really challenging (besides huge guitar solos) so thats what i want. Im "beyond" expert. \m/>_

also a pretty much garuntee (at least it would be in my book) Money for Nothing, by Dire Straights....i don't see how that song could not be added as it's not only a kick ass piece of guitar work, but it's also a poster boy song for the MTV generation (i want my, i want my, i want my MTV)

People please stop your dreaming and your bitching. Metallica will NEVER EVER make it to a guitar hero game. They would want way to much money to allow there songs to be added.

As far as the 80's edition goes, i dont know about you people but i love guiater hero and i welcome the chance to get a new game into play with some new tracks. There is no way on earth everyone is going to like every song, but do you have to keep on bitchen about the tracks? Only freaking 7 tracks have been announced, there are 23 more to come. Keep in mind this is 80's edition and not Guiater hero 3. The music should be 80's music and hair bands were big in the 80's. Bring on the Def Leapord, Ozzy, Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Ratt, Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Van Halen, Poison, Dio, Heart, Vixen, Brittany fox, Y & T, Black N Blue, Keel, Krokus and whomever else..

ROCK N ROLL :)

What they need (maybe not for this one) is some Led Zepplin...and deffinately Ozzy (not sabbath because they based their songs off of three chords and nothing with from the Dio Years) also a few more Heart songs.

OK, so, there's people who don't like the songs being put on this game. Everyone has different tastes no biggie. Some people are upset about it being PS2 exclusive and would cost $60 to download them all, well last time I checked (and I've worked at a game store for the last year and a half, there's only been like 3 games to be "released" at less than.... let's hear it folks, $59.99 then you have to add in tax so depending on where you are at you're looking at something like $62-$63. Sure PS2 version isn't that much, neither was Call of duty 3 but it was on 360.
Moving on, "why don't they make one with newer stuff" well it wouldn't exactly be "rock the 80's then would it? it's just be something like guitar hero 3, wait a minute... They ARE making guitar hero 3 and even though I can't remember all the songs from both games let's see, there was "No one knows", "Cochise", "Woman" and at least a few other (newer) tracks. You have to keep in mind they want to use (original) tracks, I've heard they couldn't find the master track for Living color's Cult of Personality, so they had them re-record it, they didn't cover it they had living color come and do it. We all remember how Metallica was over napster, what kind of royalties do you think Metallica would like for the use of "Master of Puppets"? I'd love to see "Fade to black" make it's way onto GH3 but I know it won't.

The point is, relax, let them make the game, buy it or don't buy it. You saying that Twisted Sister is crap won't change the fact it's on the game. If you're not old enough to know who they are just wait for 3, it's probably going to be out before Christmas anyway.

OMFG you all bitch and moan about it but when it comes out you will be the first to buy it. plus OBVIOUSLY sabbath will be on it they were on 1 and 2 bark at the moon is by ozzy and sabbath war pigs is sabbath. Personally i like i wanna rock and synth guitar is still guitar look @ bucket head's song jordan. the entire intro and parts of the sing is guitar synth. if u dont belive look it up on youtube he just uses a kill switch and plays the note. if you are so unhappy with the song choice learn to play a real guitar and then you can choose your own. I mean they need to accomodate all people, if it was my choice it would ALL blues sabbath and hair metal. maybe even a little punk. i mean punk would be easy to play considering most of the members of the band didn't know how to play there istruments and made them up as they go.
anyway i like the songs hopefully it isn't an expansion and comes out with a guitar. something real 80's with a kill switch you have to use instead of strumming in some bits

Thanks
