As a sign of the West's growing importance in the global video game landscape (we are pretty important, if we don't say so ourselves), Square Enix's Last Remnant will not only be coming out on the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3 (as suspected), but will see a simultaneous release in both the US and Japan -- a Square Enix first. So, this "reach out to American gamers" not only features a new type of "dark hero" -- a first for a Square Enix RPG and something that US gamers will ostensibly appreciate -- but it will also use the US-developed Unreal Engine 3, launch simultaneously on a US-owned console, and actually come out day and date in ... the US! It's a beautiful thing. No, we mean it. The Last Remnant screenshots are beautiful.

Why not release it in the UK on the PS3 at the very least at the same time.
They can't use the excuse that they need to add extra languages and also, for the PS3, many users will simply import it, I will probably do that myself.

You guys are the ones touting PAL as the superior format. Well, NTSC is standard for US and Japan. So naturally they can focus on that TV format. Or is Europe special and HDTV is the standard set over there so they don't have to worry about all those icky old SDTVs?

What you want him to do the PAL conversion himself? Oh you mean import it? Thats great. But saying 'just bloody port[sic]it' doesn't change the fact Europe is still very much neglected in the videogame industry. Its not a matter of whether we can import stuff, indeed many of us have become greatly accustomed to doing so, the question is why should we have to import it? Why have Square taken the decision not to release in Europe at the same time as the US and Japan (Blah, blah translation, blah blah conversion blah blah). Maybe someone should tell them that the European PAL territories are actually the single biggest videogame in the world.

Let's face it, European market has ALWAYS been the forgotten continent. let's take this site for example. We see Japanese/US sales number WEEKLY. and when was the last time we see European number?
At least for PS3, you get to import it from US and Canada.

If they focus on an NTSC version, they can launch in US and Japan at the same time. Europe is PAL though. So yes, conversion will take time.

13.
the game is based on Unreal Engine 3. Wii cant handle UE3. dont expect games designed for the 360/PS3 to be on the Wii. unless its a multiplatform game thats also being released on last gen consoles(like Madden, etc.)

European PS3 owners can still pick up the NA release of the game seeing as the games are region encoded.

I didn't see any screenshots for it at that link. Star Ocean and the new Crystal Chronicles, but no Last Remnant.

I'm amazed you're still here.
As for the game, it looks interesting. Sucks to be everyone but Japan and the U.S.
