Mysterious poem hides new game announcement
Recently the folks at Eurogamer received a mysterious piece of paper (ok, it's a JPEG image) from a free-range game developer in the dark alleyways of the UK. According to the shadowy figure, the poem and images hold the secret to a new game announcement. But first, we have to figure it out. Our only clues are the image and the following text:The words provide the clues.
The letters points to three cities of Gaia.
The intricate web holds secrets to the dream of fallen earth.
The poem reads:
A GRIM, ODD, ARCANE SKY
ANY GOD, I MARK SACRED
A MASKED CRY ADORING
A DREAMY, SICK DRAGON
Our first guess, Lamb Chop's Play-Along ... The Game, didn't hold up to closer scrutiny. We're confident our readers can unearth the mystery, however. The game will be revealed tomorrow, so get crackin'!

HATE HATE viral marketing.
why can't they arrest whoever did this as 'terroristic threat' and rid of this garbage? :)
JodyAnthony @ May 10th 2007 12:03PM
I bet there will be violence and you will play as some sort of anti-hero.
JodyAnthony @ May 10th 2007 12:09PM
either that or you'll play as a scantily clad woman avoiding some type of monster.
UNIQUE GAME IDEAS!

Well, off the top of my head, each line of the poem is an anagram with the same letters in it. I imagine we need to make a new phrase out of those letters. I'll leave the rest to all of you...
kingofwale @ May 10th 2007 12:11PM
the fact the words like 'scantily clad' and "monster" are in a same sentence, I'm sold
where can I pick up my pre-order?
;)
scot[t]us @ May 10th 2007 12:12PM
anagrams anyone?
Shagittarius @ May 10th 2007 12:13PM
A GRIM ODYSSEY
Myrpok @ May 10th 2007 12:13PM
At the bottom:
etwas uber einen "Krieg der [flust....]"
I can't make out the last word, but that roughly says "Something bigger than 'War of the [i don't know]'"
maybe that helps someone?
^FourthDimensionGod^ @ May 10th 2007 12:17PM
wonder how many razor blades they paid the emo to write the poem(s)
Dan Elkayam @ May 10th 2007 12:18PM
It literally says in Hebrew "Sons of the god". But a better translation would be "Sons of god".
samfish @ May 10th 2007 12:18PM
It's CLEARLY another Final Fantasy game.
JodyAnthony @ May 10th 2007 12:19PM
I would prefer scantily-clad monsters
preeow!
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ May 10th 2007 12:21PM
I thought someone said there was a poem. All I see there are 4 non-rhyming anagrams of the same phrase.
HaloBreaker @ May 10th 2007 12:22PM
Or check the official forums for spoilers.

Under "Any god" is written "sons of God" in Hebrew, just for your clue-cracking knowledge.

nope its
"something about a war of darkness"
polly @ May 10th 2007 12:25PM
New Drakengard game?
You can spell "Drakengard" with those same letters, and have these left over:
A M S C Y O I
sicsided @ May 10th 2007 12:26PM
@ ^FourthDimensionGod^
FTW on stupidest sentence of the day.
Briz9 @ May 10th 2007 12:28PM
Okay, I'm thinking 2012 is the year that the game will take place, and I just saw a show on Discovery Channel or something about how the world is supposed to end on December 12, 2012 (I think I am remembering that correctly). So my guess is that this game is gonna be about the end of the world. You've got messages about massive war, and religious type stuff too, so I'm fairly confident that I'm right.

Easy. It's just "Super Pooyan Nude Party Action Patchinko Girls '07." Surprised the rest of you didn't get it from the obvious clues.
jt_bombtrak @ May 10th 2007 12:31PM
I'm going to go with a new Grandia title. I ran the first phrase through the site below and it came up with a lot of cool phrases. When I saw "A GRANDMA DICKS YORE" in the list, I thought it said Grandia!
http://wordsmith.org/anagram/
Could be:
Grandia: Sky Dome Arc
or
Grandia: Sky Dome Car (hahaha)
Mike @ May 10th 2007 12:34PM
Clearly, it's Sacred Arkanoid Gym.
Matt @ May 10th 2007 12:41PM
They are anagrams of Dark Days Are Coming. Go to www.darkdaysarecoming.com . Still doesn't completely answer the question. I say it's Condemned 2!

It says "Sons of god".

ANAGRAMS DICEY, DORK!
Maybe the marketing department should have taken that one to heart.
Dalrint @ May 10th 2007 12:59PM
While I don't know what it is, exactly, I'd be so thrilled if it's a new Grim Fandango.
HaloBreaker @ May 10th 2007 1:07PM
Hey Dalrint nobody else can see my posts for some reason, so I'll tell you directly.
1: It's a MMO
2: Made by Funcom (Anarchy online)
3: It's something to do with the world ending.
4: Go here http://www.darkdemonscrygaia.com/fallenearth/
5: Viral marketing is a good attempt at getting people excited for a MMO.
Hey Apples @ May 10th 2007 1:12PM
The "sons of God" reference is obviously a reference to Vince Young, so it's just viral marketing for Madden '08... clever EA!

Well, solving the puzzle brings up concept art involving violence, a monster, a scantily-clad woman and some sort of anti-hero so JodyAnthony beat us all to it. ;-)

I was just saying that because I listed everything about it, what the solutions are, and where to find more info. Yet nobody noticed.

As soon as I read "A dreamy sick dragon" I had to think of another game in the Dreamfall/The Longest Journey universe. Not a simple sequel to Dreamfall as it had rather bad sales as far as I remember and Ragnar Thornquist said it won't happen for a while if at all, but I can imagine them making an mmo in the setting. Dreamfall played in various cities around the world and had the magic world of Arcadia as well as the technological one of Stark. Looking at this whole thing makes me wonder if those both worlds finally collided and now are morphed into one dark desolate world.
Or maybe it has nothing to do with Dreamfall at all and it just is very similar. After all I'm not sure having Dreamfall mentioned would actually improve sales, as that "game" wasn't so hot at all. At least you couldn't live off it's fanbase.
