Jobs? Ha....ha ha. Because you know, Sony is in the process of changing it's proprietary ways, so that's exactly what we need right now, to go back to proprietary memory cards, controller connectors, and everything else. PS3 only accepting iTunes files...only allows you to connect iPod, can only connect to macs, a new PS3 comes out ever 6 months rendering your previous PS3 obsolete.... etc. etc.

Wait, isn't that kinda Nintendo and M$'s model? Proprietary business model with new versions of your hardware coming out oh so fast? If they come out with a Wii Lite im giving up with Nintendo for good this time.

I'd rather die then see a PS3.com/switch with mr.imtotallyawesomeiwasondodgeballandwaiting commercials.

I wouldn't mind if Sony just took a few ideas from the Steve Jobs play book. Something needs to change, or else this $600 console is never going to get off the ground.

Little white electronics > big black electronics

@ #3 - you got it straight pal.

But the guy is just a puppet though, true? Its probably more like some board of old executive/assholes who arent really with 2007, making stupid ill-informed decisions.

They should have spent more time designing the ps3 and its network. What were the engineers doing between 2001 - 2006? Working only on slim editions of ps2? Adding more protection to the bloated ps3 os?

Dont get me wrong i love my playstations, thats why i come to this site. But i think when they were designing ps3 they were too busy slapping hot asian hookers on the ass and celebrating the success of ps2 than working hard and smart on ps3.

Thats where a guy like steve jobs comes in, he would at least make someone else do the work while he slaps the hookers! But yeah the drm stuff sucks but sonys into that anyways.

Miyamoto would be great if he could overcome puberty and make some adult games! Doesn't this guy get sick of making games with the same characters over and over? He's a god in this industry and could poop out a game that would sell millions in japan in a second. Why stick to the same old shit?

I dont know who runs the shit at nintendo, but ive got the nes,snes,64 and a cube.
I stopped buying after the cube because of the ridiculous price of the games! Even launch gamecube games are still full 99.95 or 89.95 (australian money) years after they released!

Even 2nd hand copys dont come cheap but PS2 games of the same era could be picked up second hand for really cheap or a brand new platinum copy for like 20,30 or 40$.I know this has to do with the difference in userbase numbers but come on!

So in closing i dont think anyone from nintendo should be running it, the price of games would never drop.Sorry for the long comment.

@4 yeah take some notes from jobs at apple. yeah. 600 for a future proof ps3 or 600 for the iphone, with a 2 year contract by the way, 800-900 with out. just to have a new one come out the next year that is completely 3g compatible.

I never fail to be amused by the Apple fanboy Sony haters who on one hand say that a mega-powerful next-gen console with Blu-Ray is not worth 600 bucks but on the other hand claim that a touch sensitive mobile phone IS worth 500.....

If Apple produced the PS3 you retards would pay 1,200.

iSheep.

Damn it, Ed. You forgot to add "Phil harrison". I'm sure it would have garnered more than the "other" option. That guy is pretty cool and I'd like to see him as head of SCE. The only downside is that he probably doesn't speak Japanese. Then again, you never know ;)

I know Kaz is there because he speaks japanese and english fluently, and is also a business man, not only a gamer or an engineer. But I don't think Phil would do bad. He's done pretty good by controlling SCEWW Studios, he is a gamer, a designer, an engineer, a good marketer and PR manager, and I feel he is more in touch with the gamer (SCE's consumer) than Kaz. I don't think he'd do badly as a manager of the worldwide organization. And besides, some people that are below Kaz said that he should learn more about hardware; but Phil probably knows a lot more about hardware.

I think Kaz should be the next Sony's president if he performs well, and that Phil, being a veteran, should take over PlayStation 4's lead (and beyond).

Jay:

I agree.

Scratch "not only a gamer or an engineer". I meant "not a gamer and not an engineer or programmer"

Who said anything about the iPhone? Is it a little white electronic device? No. Besides, taking a few ideas from the Steve Jobs playbook wouldn't hurt. I'm not saying that Sony should do what Apple does.

Although, while a phone that expensive does sound stupid, Jay pretty much confirms what I've been saying for awhile. Steve Jobs can sell you on a $600 phone better than Sony can sell you on a $600 console. Its not right, but its true.
