I see a few people have the wrong idea about Home, Home is just a bunch of rooms, there's no flying, driving or endless walks across Home, no Second Life walks down the coast past endless empty houses.

Game 3.0.

@jsn, from reading the comments, I don't think a lot of people do grasp the concept. Plenty of people seem to look at this as the standalone, not as the complement to the rest of what is going on with the ps3. This isn't meant to sell consoles, it's meant to help sell them. No one buys a 360 for live, they do it because of what live enables them to do.
You'll notice that I said the same thing about live that you did; that it is quick, efficient and to the point. It is very, very good for what it's doing, the point I'm making is that home is hopefully going to do that, and then give us more on top of it. It's pretty hard to argue against the idea that people will enjoy making avatars, interacting with other people in a non-game enviornment, and generally building, here comes that buzzword again, a community. One that goes beyond a screenname and voice chat.
Look at wiis. Look at second-life. Look at myspace, MMO games, our cars, our cell phones and ipods... hell, look at any message board that allows you a signature or icon next to your name. People like to personalize everything around them that they feel represents them, and home gives us an opportunity to really personalize our gaming persona's.

What sheppy posted about is the same thing I said a while back on ps3fanboy, and really hope to see. Events on home that put us into experiences that we simply couldn't get otherwise that go beyond a deathmatch or tournament ladder. Tell me that an online event only for Live users where you attend a virtual keynote to see the first footage of halo4 wouldn't be something 360 users wouldn't love.
Yeah, it's big thinking, and maybe a bit a fantasy right now. But I'll be damned if it doesn't sound like a hell of a lot of fun, and something I'd love to see. Life isn't always about efficiency, sometimes it's about doing things in a bigger way than is necessary just for the hell of it.
Gaming has never been about looking at what we have and saying "yeah, this is good enough, we can stop now."

Wouldn't make a difference. That kind of stuff is usually/already broadcast on the web. Hence, once again, that sort of material already has its...get ready for it...HOME. Har har, etc.

Halovers, you think Halo is the end all be all of gaming... you're gonna pay 100 bucks for a special edition of a game that barely shows improvement over the last generation of Halo. What a bunch of morons.

Home joins everything second life, my space, Xbox LIVE, nintendo's Mii's have, joins it with PlayStation's games and media downloads and more. It's great for casual gamers, and it's a place for everyone, not simply for Halo fans, fps fans, or people that buy a game simply because it's a known franchise.

I don't expect you to get this Xbots. 4 million pre-orders on Halo 3.... where only Halo fanboys will be satisfied. The rest will realize they're paying for Halo 2 with better graphics. They should have made Halo 2 subscription based for a yearly fee to play online with minor updates, just like WoW, instead of having to spend millions to get the same results. Oh wait.

Here you go to prove you wrong on graphics being slightly better just click watch compares halo2 to 3 when you open the link

http://www.machinima.com/films.php?id=22388

The thing you said about home it won't make me pay $600 for a system with no games yet and an online system no where on par with xbox live. Also you said that halovers will pay $100 for the game I think the thing you are talking about is actually $130 and that is crazy I would have paid $100 cuz that helmet is cool and you get story boards but for 130 dollars i can get 2 to 3 games for that price and the ones buying are hardcoe halo fans. You can't do HALO 3 subsription that would be stupid and lots of people care about the end to the trilogy more than online cuz 4 million of the 9 mil that bought halo 2 only played the single player. By the way WoW is to nerdy for my taste.

Thank you for 46 and 47.

@ (mostly) everyone else...

Why would you bash innovation that, in the long run, contributes to the entire GAMING community (not Sony/PS3, not Msoft/360)?

Even if this doesn't hold up well, innovation should always be welcomed otherwise we are all forced into a state of stagnant gaming.

Halo kicks ass, I agree. But things like this and Nintendo's WiiMote, as has already been mentioned, take gaming into new directions. Even if they are flawed, what then? The negatives are addressed.

And for those who don't want to give up real time to explore this virtual world, so be it. It is a feature; however, as games like Oblivion and WoW have shown, immersive gameplay is successful. Xbox Live is successful.
It's a simple equation in combining two success stories into one with an as of yet questionable but intriguing outcome.
Personally, I'm excited to see what happens here though it's far down the road and I don't own a PS3.

Before I get accused of fanboy-isms by fanboys:
Irony would have it that I own (almost) every system EXCEPT a PS3 [vectrex, nes, snes, gamecube, sega master system, genesis, dreamcast, n64, ps, ps2, wii, xbox, xbox360] and love XBL.

Again, let's embrace innovation.
It's good for everyone.

@jason

I love how you backed away from "it has sold 4 million preorders" to "it COULD sell 4 million copies" which definately goes without saying. In fact, I'll be one of the people day 1.

Okay, seriously, you're going to have to quite with this "it has no games" comment. Because it does. Truth be told, between Lost Planet and Guitar Hero 2, the only system I was booting up was my PS3 (although, to be fair, part of that was GOWII), and it certainly wasn't for Talledaga Nights. Look, we all have different gaming preferences, no doubt. BUT just because you cannot find something to play on the console doesn't mean I can't. Hell, I play Resistance (a seriously smooth online experience with great graphics no matter how many players are in the game), Motorstorm, AC4, Ridge Racer 7 (RR6's career mode SUCKED and it was overly dependant on online multiplayer), NBA Homecourt, VF5, and Gundam Musuo. And yes, I'm aware many of those are on 360 or coming there soon. But you can't say PS3 has NO games when I'm cranking 7. So while you love to bash the PS3 gamers for having high hopes for the future (a situation many a 360 owner found themselves in about a year ago, including myself), you act like there is nothing in the present.

"Also tell me a game with great graphics thats has a great online multiplayer I bet you you can't."
UT2004, Tribes Vengeance, Resistance.

But you are right in one thing. One of those posts was meant to incite a halolovers response. Thanks for paying attention to it an encouraging bootselin.

@seedaripper

As flattering as it is, my PSN list is full (literally only a few spots left and those are saved for friends who are snagging their PS3s around christmas). If PSN increases the number of contacts from 50 to 100, then I'll look ya up. But typically, I'd have to play you first. I try to keep my contacts and live lists fairly asshat free so I don't add people at random.

what i meant to say is a game that can last as long as halo 2 is still doing online(with easy to use match making, party system, and clan matches). Your right about no games a year ago for 360 and I guess its bad of myself to talk shit about PS3 having no games in there first year when I had to do the same thing with the only game I really got addicted to.
Are you in the HALO 3 beta if so whats your gamertag

Gundam Musuo? You should have made that list your top 6. I'll give you RFOM (loved that game) and MotorStorm, but the current PS3 library is even more pathetic than the 360's after launch. Sure, more will come in the indefinite future, but right now it's a pretty boring box for games.

@jason

I still whip out both Tribes Vengance and UT 2004 but yeah, I can see where you're coming from. Yeah, I'm in the Halo 3 beta. gamertag NME-Se7eN. And yes, I know I'll get my ass kicked but whatever, it's all for fun. (I do wish Halo would add bots you can practice against though. It helps to run around a map with moving targets to try and learn maps and get better)

@Sesur

I shouldn't have listed Gundam Musuo? Let's put it this way, I love the Musuo series to begin with. Enjoyed the hell out of Drakengard (Drag On Dragoon) series. And I'm a HUGE Gundam fan. So I always co-op with a friend. And as a Gundam fan, I love the pure fanservice aspect of the game. Let's just put it this way, in a single level, these are the boss battles.

Char Aznoble
Lala Soon
Johnny Ridden
Anabel Gato
Char Aznoble + Lala Soon

Seriously, could you ASK for anything more from a Solomon level?

Maybe I am one of the few here, but i LIKE the comments made to inspire a little conflict. I come to these sites, read the articles that are reposted on every blog, then scroll down to the part im interested in, the user comments.

Threads like this are juicy, and interesting! Sure, Its fun to look at articles posting new screens of (AAA game #7) and read how the first 10 posters all agree "that looks friggin sweeeeeeet".

But I really enjoy reading about peoples discussions where they have different opinions. The more heated the better (Jason and Sheppy ;) To he people complaining about how posts like this are induced to simply induce a flurry of arguements, I can say this.

DON'T GO TO UNIVERSITY. its more of the same.

Also, whats wrong with a person trying to make a living. the comments inspire people to post about things they care about, and provide entertainment for people like you and me to read and chuckle at. Who cares if they posted it just to make a few extra bucks to keep there site running. Did reading that one line really upset you that much that the rest of your day was just ruined, and left a sour taste in your mouth? When there isnt much news to report, they post something to keep people interested, and by counting the posts here, people are a lot more interested in this discussion, than about something everyone agrees one and dont feel the need to comment on because it has already been said by the first 10 people.

also, im drunk, and this is running on too far. thanks all for the good reading! Keep up the good discussions!

Haha nice sheppy.

Anywho, that looks cool and all, but I think a lot of people play video games for the games not the 'virtual world' aspect. If you want to walk around and talk to people how about ya actually go out and talk to someone. That is if you can withstand all those harsh UV rays that come from that big ball in the sky. When I think of video games I don't think of talking to some dude's virtual avatar and then taking a stroll around a pond, I think of popping peoples heads off with a rifle or other things you can't normally do in the so called 'real world'.

@ EVERYONE!

Shut the fuck up. Who the fuck cares who has what consoles. You all are acting like a bunch of 11 year olds trying to rub it in each other's faces "Ohhh mines better than yours". Seriously get a life and go outside for once. Make some friends.

I have to admit, both Home and Halo 3 look cool. Now i'm not gonna spend my whole life arguing over which is better. I'd get what I think is best and stick with that. I won't go and pursuade others that their shit sucks. Now shut hte fuck up and get a life.
