Gears of war is a great game, but you cant really compare it to halo. Halo is to microsoft as mario is to nintendo.

My friends and i are playing halo once again without shields, its like a whole new game and i like it better without them. Its fun shooting one pistol shot into your opponents head and thats all it takes.

Bringing down shields is kinda boring.

You know a games great, when the haters feel the need to post in every news story dealing with that game. I love it.

If I hated or had no interest in a game I wouldn't even waste my time reading a news story about it or watch a video of it.

Halo haters, on the other, feel the need to let everyone know how bad or overrated they think this game is. Are you trying to convert us lost souls? Are you going to convince the people who have played and loved the game, that we are only fooling ourselves? Come on... If you don't like the game, don't play it but why bad mouth it every chance you get? It's a waste of your time and you just come off as an ass.

Halo was easily the best console shooter last gen. That isn't overrated. And so what if Unreal and Half-Life are better. That still makes Halo pretty fucking awesome, not to mention the fact that you need a PC for the latter two.

Let's just talk about the beta, eh. The game is clearly going to rock. The haters just need to make about 100x negative Halo posts so they don't feel like they are missing out on anything for 360. PC fps are better and Gears and Halo3 are overrated? I beg to differ.

Halo 3 will be fun to play, as I have always been a fan of the series. However, GOW has set high standards for my 360 and I hope Bungie will follow. From what I've seen, the graphics are okay. I just hope the game play is fun enough to offset it.

Also, I'm a bit disappointed in the weapons shown. They seem too much like Halo 2. I hope they are improved upon as well. Anyone else have comments on this?

ive played pc fps's for years...competitivly in cal/cpl..i love the mouse and keyboard and yes i do prefer it for fps...

however i can still kick some ass with a controller...and halo3 is loooking pretty amazing to me..

and whoever said gears is better then halo...come on man..the game was amazing to look at...it was fun to play for about a month...after that its just the same old thing over and over again...that game dosent really have that much replay value FOR ME...

It looks fun in multiplayer. But how about the story? If I had to choose between Bioshock and Halo3 I would pick up Bioshock because im not online that often. I hope Halo3 story leaves me satisfied.

This is all useless to me. Why? No bots. Go to Hell, Bungie, and take your botless game with you!

None of my friends will play Halo against me. I'm too good for them. It isn't fun for them to get wholly annihilated by me, so they just don't play. If we had bots we could do a human team vs. a bot team, but Bungie won't allow it. We can go online and do an unranked game, but we're stuck split screen and have no control over the difficulty, which might still get them annihilated.

I'd play online, but the matchmaking in Halo 2 often took forever, the people mostly sucked as people, and you'd often get people as good as in this video, doing things that look like pure flukes regularly. I can't get that precision with a gamepad. It would get tiring. Moreso, though, would be dealing with the matchmaking. I pretty much just despised the whole process. I've despised it with every Xbox and 360 game. Getting into a game will take minutes. If you get kicked you have to wait a few more minutes. If the connection sucks you have to leave, then wait a few more minutes. GoW was guilty of this despite allowing you to skip matchmaking - every time you tried to join a game that was full it would update the master list, which would take far too long.

Going online with the Xbox often seems as much about waiting as about playing.

If damn games came with bots it'd be moot. PD0 had bots, shitty game but people would play me despite my ability to destroy them, they'd just join my team against bots, or they'd go on a team with stronger bots than my team.



In all I guess none of this matters, considering my 360 won't run most games anymore, slightly complicated ones like Oblivion and Crackdown won't be read by the DVD player, only simpler, lesser games like Spiderman 3 play.

Its actually 2 years you have to be 17 to but a rated m game like you have to be 17 to go to a rated r movie. With that said to all the people saying gears of war is better then halo 3 cuz of its graphics no it isn't gears online is boring theres very little game types and only one where you respawn and all the maps are identical on each side when the halo series has maps that are way better designed. I still play gears online it just doesn't have the longitivity as halo 2 did online and still does, so I just hope epic comes out with more gametypes(a respawn warzone or objective based ones) after annex cuz thats my favorite out of the four and gears online is very limited all together. To all the pc gamers your just mad cuz the HALO series is the best selling fps of all time and sets sales records(already over 4 million preordered) for the xbox and xbox 360 and it doesn't come out onto the pc until 3 to 4 years later which the original halo was suppose to come out originally for the pc/mac and if it did it would not have done as great as it has done with the xbox.

seriously, the comparisons to gears of war need to stop! gears is a great looking game but HOLY HELL IS IT FLAWED. The game has serious issues man, serious issues! sometimes i think people actually dont play these games, rather they just sit in blogs bitching about them.

Gears is an awesome game but in no way will it compare to Halo. Halo has depth man, and for god sakes it uses many vibrant colors. Gears is all grey, look at the colors for Halo..... BIG DIFFERENCE.

Halo is for the gameplay people, GAMEPLAY. Style over substance means squat in the long run!

It seems when I was playing last night the cheaters got better (as if they needed too) well maybe just more previlent (I though Bungie was working on a better filter for that). Reseting the levels before the beta of 3 comes out! You know right when your winfall is about to come in Bungie you turn your product to crap. Now I'm not sure I'll get 3! Bungie WAKE UP!!!!

Halo 3 weapons of course are going to be very similar to Halo 2 with little tweaks to them like the needler shooting faster and not being duel wieldable and bringing back the halo:ce assualt rifle. Also I think theY added alot of weapons such as portable turret, spike gernade, brute spike rifle, spartan lazer, x-button equitment(mine,bubble shield,power drainer, radar scrambler, portable gravity lift, and probably more unannounced ones), and a new vehicle the monggose and probably a couple other new vehicles they haven't announced. This quite a bit of new weapons for a sequel and why wouldn't the weapons be like halo 2 those are great weapons, they aren't going to have a gun with chainsaw attached to it or a energy sword attached to a gun lol.

Never did I say I hate Halo. Is it the end-all-be-all? No. Do I hate it? No.

I said I hate playing games like this online against 14 year old boys from the south that do nothing but practice Halo and try to learn new swears. Getting your ass kicked by morons gets tiring quickly.
I hate matchmaking that takes anything more than 10 seconds to get into a game. That's what I can do in Counterstrike, I expect it for anything else.

Above all I hate being forced to play online, or play offline with at most three other people, none of whom are near my skill level and therefore none of whom are going to have fun. I have zero interest in playing random people from random parts of the globe with random maturity levels. I want to play my friends on the couch next to me. But those games end up being 10-1 victories for me, so no one has fun.


Not including bots in a console FPS game is laziness and stupidity. I won't buy any game that does that. PD0 sucked single player, but having bots on top of its co-op will have given it far more replayability than Halo 3 will have, even if the gameplay mechanics and controls for their DM blew.

Long time PC gamer here. Played Halo 1 on PC and fell in love with the story. Been a Halo fan ever since. It's not impossible to play with a controller. It's just different. Stuck-up PC gamers need to learn to adapt.

Enjoy the game for what it is. It doesn't need to have the flashiest graphics. Is it fun to play? Thats the only question you need to ask yourselves.

I hate the Half-Life series. I know theres a huge fanbase of HL players that love the game. It was just never fun for me. I bought HL and played through about 30 minutes of it before I was bored and turned it off. Because of that experience, I never tried HL2. I won't try HL3. But, you don't see me running in to every HL2 thread going 'HL2 is overrated. It sucks and isn't any fun to play.'

Maybe you guys should just chill out and relax rather than going around and bashing anything you might not happen to like. Maybe it will add a few years to your life :)

Halo is a lot of fun for a lot of people, I personally don't play FPS online cuz I cannot keep up with the hard cores, But people tend to hate what is popular. I don't truly understand Beta build and all that, but that game looks good to me and if people say it is going to get better after the final build than I say it will f*n rock. I have always liked the game play and I assume it will only get better.

I would have to agree with you. No doubt that I will play the HELL out of this game... I'll easily put in hundreds of hours. But I am disappointed in the graphics. It looks like they took Halo 2, made it HD, added moving grass, a BIT more lighting effect (not much), didn't even bother to redo the old weapons and added a few new ones and call it Halo 3.

Like I said, I'm a big fan of Halo and I support it 100% but the graphics left me limp. The Halo game-play is what's going to keep me playing over and over again.

Is there even a drastical difference between this and Halo 2? If so, I can't see it.

To the guy rambling about how idiotic those comments are because it's a beta, we know it's a beta you moron. What you should know, is that BETA means the game is finished, they are simply ironing the buggs out. So no, there's not gonna be much change on the final product. Unless they delay the game of course, but Microsoft wants to release it NOW (well, during holidays), not later, just like they did with Halo 2 and Xbox 360.

I get so sick of detractors of the Halo series popping in and making totally biased remarks. If you hate the damned game so much, then ignore it. I am not a big fan of Final Fantasy, but I know a lot of people love it. Cool...good for them. I'm sure it's a great game for people who love it. The LAST thing I have time and energy to do is go around to message boards and social websites like Digg and bag on that game. The insane amount of hate Halo gets is simply a testament that it is a juggernaut. Oh, and as if I needed to repeat what others said, the graphics are Haloish. Bungie themselves said they are NOT trying to match the environmental complexity of games like GOW. The sweetness of Halo lies in its simplicity, gameplay, and the almost cartoony style the game brings to the table.

The 360 crowd seems to be evolving. There are plenty of PS converts among us now. (Not that if you don't like Halo your a PS convert.) I just don't remember this much negativaty (mispell?) when waiting for Halo 2. Maybe because I didn't know what the hell a blog was back then, lol.

I don't want to sound like your typical hater, but that looked exactly like Halo 2, which looks exactly like Halo 1, and none of it is particularly interesting.

Halo just took most of the developments in PC FPSs before 2001 and stuck them on a console for the first time, modifying a couple of things here and there. It's really not that great.

Well, in case Bungie didn't get the memo... there's another game that just cleaned Halo's clock called Gears of War. It raised the bar PERIOD!! From what I see in this video, they're not rising up to the challenge and bringing a new plateau... and what's with the Unreal Tournament narrator??? If you're gonna copy Epic, at least 1up them Bungie.... you're a distant second now. I seriously thought you were gonna bring it and show everyone what's up. I'm really disappointed.

the reason halo is better than any other fps is because of its online mode. other fps wish they had something similar to matchmaking or halos rank system. that is why halo is the most played online game in live.its more of how much fun you have than the graphics.

Hmmm..it's seems out of all those comments that I, the only unlucky one out of the bunch whose copy of Crackdown with halo 3 beta did not f**king work. So I'll just continue starring at the tv screen with Download Halo 3 Beta and below say "Check back here at a later date to download the halo 3 beta". Shit!!!!!
