Bomberman Live still not official, but there's a video
A couple days ago we reported that the Australian's review board rated Bomberman Live for XBLA. Despite the fact the title still hasn't officially popped up on US radar, French site Xboxygen has a trailer for the game stating a "summer" release.
This story just hit Beautiful Katamari's level of silly unofficial existence status, where the title languished for weeks until being officially confirmed. Unless there's some kind of exclusive deal banged out with a magazine, we hope this title gets official status by next week with some idea of a release date -- you know, unless the Australian rating and this video are one giant elaborate hoax. But we doubt it. We look forward to some XBLA multiplayer Bomberman action this summer. Do we need to reexamine the concept of a summer gaming drought?

This looks like great fun. The DS version was a complete time-killer with friends. "What?? 6AM?? Wasn't it 1AM like two hours aso?!"
Breserk @ May 12th 2007 7:03PM
aso=ago.
Excuse the 2AM typing... :(

Well, it looks like Saturn Bomberman is still Saturn-exclusive... but this might be more than sufficient a substitute. :)

DO WANT!

Hopefully there will be an option for 3-D gfx and the original sprites.
I love the old sprite gfx.
But bring on some Bomberman!!
why not the LS2LS7? @ May 12th 2007 11:32PM
Great game. But it wouldn't be the same over the net. The game was all about smack talk, especially when someone accidentally blows themself up.
Plus, those graphics stink. Top down would be a lot better.

Last I remembered, the NES version was "top down", and it wasn't multiplayer.
The isometric view which everybody grew to love (and missed so much that Bomberman: Act Zero never stood a chance, regardless of the fact that it sucked) is back for this rumored Live version.
Save lag, the game _should_ be the same, but without the hassle of having 3-5 buddies onhand to have a blast.
And if these grainy vids are any indication, we should be in for a treat. It looks like Bomberman 64 updated with HD graphics. Let's hope the gameplay is there.

Yeah, i've been waiting for someone to update Bomberman 64's style of free-roaming battles, instead of those grids (even though the grids are fun as hell, and seem to be making their own appearance here)
I'll have to convince one of my 2 close friends with a 360 to get this...
colonel angus @ May 13th 2007 10:22PM
what do you mean not the same over the net? There's this thing called xbox live, which last time I checked, did in fact include lots of shit talking.
Xanto @ May 13th 2007 11:00PM
First of all, Bomberman isn't meant to be a graphic superior game, it was tried with Bomberman: Act Zero and it failed. Bomberman games are all about the fun factor and multiplayer experience.
Capt. Castellanos @ May 13th 2007 11:31PM
awww crap.
my 'reasons to get myself a 360'
list just got a little bigger.
i love bomberman.
but the DS version will suffice for now
since i don't care much for online gaming.
(the online mode on the DS one isn't so great.)
i enjoy the whole smack-talk with friends thing.
