By far the best looking game on the PSP. GOW has nothing on this game!

It may look good, but if the Compilation track-record is anything to go by, it'll be far from the best-playing game on the PSP.

This game is gonna be awesome. I just hope it gets released in North America in time for the holidays. If it does, it'll help make the PSP a strong seller during the holidays (especially if a redesign comes out too).

Dang it... I'm such a FF7 Fanboy too.

I don't want to buy a portable system for one game :(

I'll probably just borrow a PSP from a friend... if any of them have one.

Where do you think the story will feed off of? PS1's Final Fantasy 7 or the movie Advent Children?

yeah, what a shame PSP won't let you just import a game from Japan or even US, right?

ooh wait. ;)

This game will probably be the best selling game on PSP. it will be a fantastic duel for lordship between this and God of War

I hope this closes the gap between PSP and DS. The DS is a cool handheld, but I wanna see the PSP be a little more competitive. Hopefully this game, god of war, disidia, FF1, FF2 and FFT remakes will lift this sleek ass portable in japan.

Then again, who knows. Perhaps the PSP could compete with the next-generation of the DS with a headstart of 4 years or so. That wouldn't be bad, if Sony manages to pull a 10 year cycle with PSP as they'd like to with PS3.

The game'll sell well, that's for sure. No doubt about that. You wanna sell some units? Slap the name "Final Fantasy" on it. FF probably has the strongest brandname power outside of a Nintendo franchise, but it probably won't close the gap between PSP and DS too much (personally, I think the GTA spinoffs had a better chance). DS's game library appeals to a lot more people than just FF fans (and it's got a few FF titles of its own).

Lol 2ez, don't complain and whine because FF7 > any other RPG out in its time. :)

Just... relax a little bit. It really is nice.

I really don't like the fact that a game this important to me is coming out for a handheld. I don't ride the bus to school, and I don't have study hall to kill some time with it. I don't work with people that are gamers, so they'll think I'll look like a frickin tool playing it.

I would just play it at home, the very home that has my PS2 connected to a large TV. But now, I have to play this epic (to me...FFVII is HUGE to me) game on a little screen, with little speakers, for a little while at a time. Thanks square-"enix".

@16

Please tell me that was sarcasm. FFVII isn't close to being the best FF game, let alone the best RPG. FFVII was terrible.

I can see this hitting a million in the US; in Japan, maybe 500,000 if they're lucky.

Over in the US Gamestop and EB seem to make it a point that you purchase new games and not their used ones, by providing defective, problematic, scratched copies for 90% of the new price. As you can see from the anti-Gamestop posts that often pop up I think a lot of people would rather get the game new, and rent it if they feel it's a short game.

In Japan the used games business is huge, with high-priced buybacks and reasonable used prices. This is because with the way game-store operations work in Japan, their profits from new games are little if close to none, and the bulk of profits come from used-game sales. New hardware is supposedly sold at a loss, and therefore consoles like the Wii (which sell consoles buy not games) are being viewed with a lot of hostility from these small vendors. Discs are pretty much guaranteed to work and the games are often taken care of in mint condition, since that way the buy-back price is higher (from the user's viewpoint) and it's more appealing to customers (from the store's viewpoint).

If you can read Japanese there's a very good article about this from a game store owner's viewpoint which you can get to by googling for "オレ様 360"

Nope, not sarcasm. I hold FF7 very high on my RPG list. And I've played a shit ton of them.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it a bad game.

FF7:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps/rpg/finalfantasy7/index.html?q=Final%20Fantasy%20VII&tag=result;title;4

FFX:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/finalfantasy10/index.html?q=Final%20Fantasy%20X&tag=result;title;0

FFXII:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/finalfantasy12/index.html?q=Final%20Fantasy%20XII&tag=result;title;2

So obviously FFVII is pretty damn good. Just because you played it too late, doesn't mean it sucks.

Oh yeah, review scores are the end of all game debates... please.

FF7 was great to everyone because they were young (teenagers, and with all the teen angst gushing from FF7, its no surprise that you enjoyed it), and it was the first RPG that many played. If you want proof of that, look at the friggin sales of FF6 -> FF7, FF7 has a HUGE margin. Therefore, almost everyone talking about how great FF7 was is blinded with nostalgia, and the fact that they didnt taste anything different before hand.

It's like eating vanilla ice cream for the first time in your life; from that point foward vanilla will probably be pretty high up there in your list of favorite flavors, because it was the first flavor you ever got.

Whatever you men may say about The FF series, the point is that there is a little bit of everything out there that we look for in certain things. Crisis core, in my opinion for example, will help provide some brilliant closure to the pre-ffVII fics I have read. I have a psp myself, and am happy to finally feel that my investment was not a mistake. I am glad that square-enix has decided to close the gap between things. Also, you have to consider the platfrom release choice of different companies. Many of the bloggers on this site will agree that SONY's stock market value has gone down considerably, and a console selling game would be great for them. Gaming, although a highly entertaing passtime, isn't always all fun. The commercial world is still out there too.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this all. I hope this helped clear some questions for everybody here...

Well, that is a good point. The truth is, Zack is the original concept of Cloud, developed by Nomura/Amano. It's interesting to see this come up.
I'm glad to have seen this for myself.
