A classical approach to Blizzard with Video Games Live

Where there's gamers, classical music will follow. Video Games Live announced today that they'll have two special Blizzard-themed concerts at Blizzard Entertainment's two major gaming conventions. The first will be at Blizzard's World Wide Invitational this Saturday in Seoul, South Korea, and the other will be at BlizzCon, held in Anaheim, Calif., in August. We're willing to put good money down right now that the orchestra will play (or at least have video of) something from the new possible Starcraft game after the big announcement this Saturday -- those of you attending in Korea get your camera phone's video option ready!
The best part is admission to the concerts is included in the price of both events. No additional purchase will be required. BlizzCon prices are $100 USD per person. For those who haven't seen a Video Games Live concert it is definitely a non-meh experience -- you may very well get chills when the theme to a game you really like starts. Considering these concerts will be held with Blizzard fans present, we expect the chills to be of frost nova proportions in the audience.

Just because it's played with an orchestra does not make it Classical muaic.

Too bad most of Blizzard's music sucks. Sure there were some great tracks in Starcraft and WoW, but Warcraft's music is very non-descript and devoid of passion.

Whoops, make that "music". Stupid keyboard.

Did they do a concert like this for beyond good and evil??

Will Tommy Tallarico continue to stroke his own ego by slipping some of his own forgettable soundtrack work into the program? Perhaps something from "Cool Spot"?

Beyond Good & Evil! If any game needed a sequel it was that one...

To Thundernad: We never did an entire Beyond Good & Evil show (although that would be awesome!). That pic is from our normal Video Games Live show in which we sometimes play a BG&E medley consisting of 4 songs in one. The segment lasts about 4 minutes. BG&E was one of my favorite games. When we did our show in London last year I had Michel Ansel fly in from France and present the segment on stage with the composer Christoph Heral. Great guys!
To Rootbeer: Sorry that you feel that way in general. I think you watch too much G4 and don't realize that the "bad cop" personoa that someone plays on t.v. doesn't necessarily mean that is what the person is in real life. It's entertainment my friend. Rumor has it that Darth Vader isn't that bad a guy either. For our special Blizzard shows of course I won't put any of my music in there because I haven't done any music for any Blizzard games. In terms of our normal show... Considering I created, produce and host the concert doesn't seem like a big stretch to include one of my own pieces into the show. Keep in mind that I've been a video game composer for over 17 years and this is a video game concert.
