"We just hold hands and talk about Koopas."

Nice. Even if I liked kow-kok (honestly, that's just wrong), I would find this amusing.

*yawn*

the same old "you're a troll, because you took a stab (or more than one) at my beloved Nintendo".

if a negative comment deserves an IP ban, I am simply SHOCKED why this isn't called "Nintendo fanboy" website.

and frankly, personal insults to fellow members are allowed but making fun a company isn't?

Now, let's try again to go back to topic. Magazine, RIP, won't miss ya.

I'll miss the magazine if the rumor is true. I've had a subscription for the last two years when they completely redisgned the magazine. I didn't like the magazine before but I gave it a chance when they took out all the content I didn't like. Every month it's been steadily getting better. Most of the complaints I've read here have not been in the magazine in two years. They've also dealt with the time issue by making the magazine mostly filled with special features and interviews with information that you don't see on the internet.

I could easily see Nintendo shifting to use the VC in order to ship out electronic distributions, or making a nintendo news channel so you can get up to date info instead of having to go to nintendo's website.

I'm actually kinda surprised they haven't done it already.

I still have issues 1-72. Magazine crapped out at 60 IMO. The internetz are really beating down magazines. That or the magazines that AREN'T exclusively for one system, beating down all the ones that ARE. Game Informer is a pretty sweet magazine IMO. Too bad it's so infrequent. Play would be good if it wasn't ALL about having a pretty face. PC Gamer is shit now. I have old PC Gamers from the Command and Conquer demo days and they had 150 pages+ standard, and now 80. No value in magazines anymore, with teh free internetz.

What are you talking about? Nintendo Power is owned and operated by Nintendo! Page 14 of the current Nintendo Power magazine:

"Nintendo Power is printed in the U.S.A. and published by Nintendo of America Inc."

I've been a subscriber since the first issue. I enjoy reading the content, but it's old and obviously biased towards Nintendo! They reformed a bit a couple years ago but under their old rating system the delta between a bad game and a great game was pratically nothing. They didn't want to discourage anything.

Attempting to imply that Nintendo Power is somehow independent from Nintendo is foolish. It's like attempting to suggest that government-owned media outlets like the BBC, PBS, and NPR are fair and balanced. True, they b*tch and moan about their government leaders, but they are biased towards the concept of maximizing government power. That's why those lefty outlets praise concepts of socialism and condemn concepts of individuality. The government benefits from having a media outlet that promotes controling ever aspect of every citizen's life and the dimwitted personalities get an outlet to spew their bias unchallenged.

"the same old "you're a troll, because you took a stab (or more than one) at my beloved Nintendo"."

You're really struggling to understand what's right in front of you, aren't you? It has nothing to do with Nintendo, and everything to do with you being a troll. You take off-topic shots. No one cares that they're about Nintendo. They just want you to stop trolling. Not only have you done it here at Joystiq repeatedly, you did it last night on PS3Fanboy.com. The fact that you used the term "same old" should be an indicator of just how much you troll.

"and frankly, personal insults to fellow members are allowed but making fun a company isn't?"

Did I say anything regarding the "personal insult" other than that I happened to find the koopa thing amusing? To be honest, not having either of you around would be great.

If Nintendo Power ever offered any freakin demo discs maybe it would be more popular, but they never do. On top of that the design is too kiddy, every month it's got some cartoony character on the cover. And on top of that, compared to some other gaming magazines it's too short of a read. And on top of that all the content can be found on the internet, and should they get an "exclusive" it will only end up on the internent next day. They can't expect people to keep coming to thier magazine when the only original content they have is a mini fold-up poster of some stupid Harvest Moon game stuck between it's pages.

@ Grey Acumen

I was thinking the same thing, a "Nintendo Power Channel" that runs kind of like an RSS reader, either that or simple add a "Nintendo" category to the News Channel, maybe that's what Reggie (or whoever) was talking about when they mentioned Nintendo power and online distribution

plus they can integrate that kickass "warp zone" thats on the front page of the Euro shopping channel, that trivia is so awesome

First, I need to deal with kingofwale and his sorry ass.
Spirits of Mist,
And Creatures of Bog
Turn now kingofwale,
to the shape of a Frog!

Second, I must say that NP isn't as good as it used to be, back when they had full reviews and maps.
