New games this week: Shrek the Third edition

We were jonesing to insert a Smash Mouth lyrical pun like "I saw this game, now I'm a believer" or "Hey Shrek, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play," but we couldn't decide on just one. So instead, we'll just say that if you enjoy the film Shrek the Third, you can now buy a game that's also called Shrek the Third.

And I know what game you bought. Narrowly avoided the bullet on that one myself. It just wasn't in the budget after I put in my order at RedOctane for four more X-Plorer controllers for 360...

Yea, I'm just worried about its replay value. I'm more looking forward to the inevitable sequel, Infinite String of Question Marks. Though I hear they're going the Pokemon route- Countable Version and Uncountable Version.

In other news, I'm such a dork.

RE 4 is a surprise to me- I'd love to try that on a nicely-equipped gaming rig.

I have absolutely no confidence that Shrek the Third will be either a good game OR a good movie.

Although I have even less hope for Fantastic Four 2.

Fantastic 4 lost all confidence from me the moment Doom became a pretty boy and Sue Richards was announced as Jessica Alba. Now don't get me wrong, Jessica Alba is a fine piece of ass, but the bitch is soo bad at acting, she can't even fake an orgasm. I mean, seriously... you SAW her in Sin City, right? The moment your acting skills are shown up by "generic whore who sells out the girls" is the moment it's time to just pack it in.

I think the problem with the second one is it borrow too heavily from popular culture for majority of it's jokes and parodies. So not only was it a halfassed sequel but majority of it's humor has a finite line of relevance. Third looks to be doing that even worse.

Remember kids, nothing dates your efforts like pop culture parodies. And this is the biggest difference between Mel Brooks and Wayan Brothers.

Shrek the Third the game will be better than both Gears of War and God of War 1 and 2. Game of the year I predict.

Wow, pretty bleak outside of Touch the Dead (btw, wasn't the name changed to Dead N' Furious?), the Harvest Moon PSP title, and some awesome console to PC rehashes

Nintendo should put Mario in their version. That always raises the ratings.

Dead 'n' Furious is the EU title, Touch the Dead is the NA title.

You didn't like Shrek 2 sheppy? Sheesh, you're being way too critical. There's plenty of movies with now-outdated pop references, that's what makes it a classic to some people.

Now a third one, yeah, that's going onto shaky ground. But don't be so critical about movies, otherwise you'll never enjoy them.
