Team Fortress 2 gets cheeky
One part The Incredibles, one part Sony's crazy European bathtub ad, the new Team Fortress 2 trailer gets cheeky with "The Heavy." Although we are looking forward to continuing the Half-Life 2 story with the Black and Orange Box this fall, it feels like Portal and Team Fortress 2 is starting to grab our attention a lot more. Although, all that Half-Life 2 goodness in the Orange Box for those who've never played should be hard to resist.
The comic-style first-person shooter of Team Fortress 2 might help grab some XBL players who aren't into the ultra-serious, super-hardcore, lifestyle that Halo 3 online will be. Team Fortress 2 could very well shape up to be the "other" multiplayer shooter for the Xbox 360 and some great multiplayer action for PS3 owners.

Hahaha! I actually liked it! It made me more interested in this game now! I want to see more of these, but from each character!

I'm sure Halo 3 will be fun, but I am ten times more excited about Team Fortress 2.
Team Fortress: Classic is the closest we have come to a perfect online action game to date. This is going to be phenomenal.

Man whoever is promoting this game is amazing... these spots are so well done.
Rayonic @ May 15th 2007 7:23PM
Cry some more! I love how they captured the essence of the Heavy Weapons Guy.
Every multiplayer-only game needs this kind of fleshing out (since there's no single-player more to do it for you.)
Gouki4u @ May 15th 2007 7:30PM
Oh wow. I hope they release more of these featuring other characters. That is just great.
Stef Geiger @ May 15th 2007 7:31PM
Just so we all know - IGN has Orange box listed for DECEMBER 2007. I know that's still likely technically "fall", but it used to be slated for October or something, so I thought it should be noted.

The facial expressions, as expected of Source, are wonderful. When he has that sad look of "I'm pretty dumb, and there's nothing I can do to fix it", and then transitions into "fuck that, I'm the fucking Heavy Weapons Guy"... Wow.
Sidepocket @ May 15th 2007 7:37PM
Wow, the first time in a video game were the animation and the voice work did not suck like Episode 3. :D
syco @ May 15th 2007 7:43PM
This is looking better every time I see it.
Also, Portal. I need Portal like I need air.

"Some people think they can outsmart me... I've yet to meet one who can outsmart bullet."
Best teaser line ever!

Woah. To hell with Halo 3, gimme Orange Box.

Please tell me there will be a video like that for each class...
Also, whats with showing off new facial tech in a multiplayer game? Will there be much talking other than yelling out 'Medic'..."

"We're glad you liked the Heavy, and yep, there'll be more.
We're doing a bunch of voice & facial work in TF2 beyond just yelling "medic!", so you'll see a lot of the new facial animation system.
Robin."

Brilliant ad spot. Team Fortress 2 was the least known and least wanted part of the new HL2 stuff for me, but now I want to see more!
Mike @ May 15th 2007 9:12PM
I am very excited about Team Fortress 2 and Portal. At this point, they are equal in anticipation to Episode 2 for me.
I'm definitely impressed that this was a real-time demo, even though there were few actual game-mechanics and characters running at the same time.
jaysins @ May 15th 2007 9:23PM
It really could be an incredible package. I'm excited about playing all three games, with portal shaping up to possibly be a truly unique experience.

Valve is neater than heck.

You have to wonder if the Playstation Network's Friends List will be actually functional by the time this game comes out?? (My bet is no....because SONY is focusing on HOME)
Until it does.....all my multiplayer online choices goto my 360.....(and those damn lovable ACHIEVEMENT POINTS).
trent @ May 16th 2007 11:10AM
man that game is PACKED with style. i love it.
Stef Geiger @ May 16th 2007 12:42PM
@22: It very well could be, seeing as Home should be released to the public in the fall, but Orange Box doesn't come out till December.
Stupidiot @ May 16th 2007 12:46PM
Valve games are absolutely excellent, however I certainly have a lot of problems with the UI, reliability and load times in various games using the Source engine.
