Rule number 1: The fanboys are grievers. They will complain about anything. The next step down on the totem pole is emo. It's best just to ignore them, because if you don't, you'll get angry, and then eventually join them. We don't want that.

Rule number 2: To play in the Halo 3 Beta, most fanboys bought Crackdown. They didn't bother playing Crackdown any longer than 2 days, thus saying the disc was really the Halo 3 Beta. They're willing to, at any length, spent as much money as they can acquire, by legal OR illegal means, on Halo merchandise, even if it's only temporary. Be forewarned, GameStop clerks: a good thing to carry on you is a rather large can of mace to keep the Halo fanboys away if something goes wrong with Crackdown. (And it did.)

Rule number 3: You know it's a beta when you already hear people who are playing the game are finding out that there are Stand-by cheaters in the Beta. So soon? Yes.

Rule number 4: If something goes wrong with anything Halo, it's Bungie's fault. Then some bald guy comes out with a big stick and yells a lot. The beatings will continue, unless morale improves.

Not dead. What I am saying is, right now the technical superiority of the PS3 is on paper, ONLY. But if these two AAA titles cannot set the bar on 360, it's only a matter of time until PS3 will catch up. You won't find many games that have a budget of Halo 3 or Forza 2, and to see that theyre not even trying to innovate on the GFX side is very sad.

So supposedly we're looking at 10pm EST now. I am fairly aggravated by this. I can't believe a release this big and this hyped up has been handled so badly.

I'm not angry, just kind of aggravated that I wasted a vacation day and someone at Realtime/Bungie/Microsoft dropped the ball.

I'll agree that H3 doesn't blow me away graphically. But I think they are good enough that they won't hinder sales or anything. I like the Halo series because I like the story and I enjoy the co-op campaigns. I also don't really see anything the PS3 has to counter it.

Forza 2 is a different story. I played the demo and I'll agree that I was underwhelmed by the graphics. I also have a PS3 and GTHD blows it away graphically, though both seem solid from a gameplay standpoint. I do expect GT5 to look as good or better than GTHD, so it will likely look much better than Forza 2. Of course, the 360 is also getting PGR4... which, from the early screens, does look spectacular. Also, Forza 2 is due out this month... Where is GT5? It's not even on the horizon. That's the main problem with the PS3 and why I hardly expect the PS3 to be eating the 360 alive in 2008. The 360 has a lot more games than these two. And in the end, if both have sound gameplay, the lack of visual flair will hardly matter to most gamers... as long as they don't look like a Wii game ;-)

Really... you shouldn't have been taking a vacation day for a beta anyway. I can understand people taking a day off to enjoy the final game at launch, but wasting one on a beta? My vacation time is too precious to throw away on something like this... especially knowing that, given that it's a beta, something like this could happen.

Of course GT5 is not even on the horizon (as everything else PS3), still i believe you must have balls the size of a minivan to release a AAA title like Forza with graphics that ugly. Don't they play the games they develop? Didn't anybody say "Hey guys, I just noticed our game looks worse than 2 year old PGR. ARE WE GONNA DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT?"

Gotta go with Rob on this one... All you guys who say graphics don't matter I don't get. Graphics are the reason I wanted a 360. Otherwise I would have stuck with PSone... No excuse for a game not looking better than last-gen tech could produce. No excuse for the year old Gears to eclipse it graphically. Good gameplay AND good graphics are requirements.

I also agree with Rob that it would be silly to think that all of a sudden the poly counts were to go way up after the beta.

I seen a side by side comparison of the halo2 beta compared to the final game, and its night and day apart! How can you side with a Hater in rob?? -Unless youre a hater too. youre telling me that HALO3 wont provide Good Gameplay and Good Graphics?? C'mon!

And BTW, the poly count went up from the halo2 beta to the final game.

Rob, It is funny that you say you know what you are talking about because it is very obvious that you in fact, do not. I would like you to look at the fact that H3 is being rendered in a new engine. Also, I think you have completely forgot the fact that in many of the screenshots and in parts of the television ad, the action was rendered directly from actual gameplay. Yes, the h3 teaser trailer is predominantly CG outsourced to a ad agency, but there are parts rendered from gameplay, which can be verified through NUMEROUS posts on bnet and xbox.com. Secondly, if you read frankie's weekly updates you would know that EVERY WEEK HE TALKS ABOUT THE TEXTURE MAPPING AND HOW THE FINAL VERSION IS SHOWING VAST IMPROVEMENTS TO THE H2 ENVIRONMENT!

And thirdly - WHY CHANGE A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR, PLATFORM SELLING, FRANCHISE FOR MSG! Everyone has known since the announcement that H3's biggest difference over H2 is in the single player campaign and the story. The multiplayer element does bring in the fans, but with the success of H2, really, does it matter how nice it looks as long as its freaking fun! Want a game that puts most shooters to shame? google: Soldat. Those graphics suck, but the game is awesome.

I think this is hillarious, I was dissapointed that the beta wasn't up yet, but like any reasonable person I DID SOMETHING ELSE. I can't believe some of you took a day off just for this, and in some cases an entire week! Hello, we live on this rock called Earth inhabited by crazy monkeys, there are a million other things to do out there; for instance, use your vacation hours to, I don't know, TAKE A VACATION!

I don't thing having your cell phone mess up alot is in the same category as this. For one this is a GAME and has no real importance or use in the real world. Yes it is entertaining but to spite what some may think you don't need it in you daily life. Where as most people use a cell phone for their jobs, doctors for example also you may need it to work in case of an emergency. So having one that does not work would not be a good thing. The thing I find funny is people are crying because they took off work for X amount of days so they can play this. I would have thought that someone that is old enough and mature enough to have a job would also have their priorities in order.

Do any of you have a job? I'm curious, because the one's telling the ones who took off work that they need to fix their priorities are more concerned about how much they're complaining then the fact that they took time away from the monotony of work to play a video game. The vast majority of people who are working hate their jobs, or can only stand them enough to get paid on payday. If you have a job, have you ever felt like taking off from work to go to a concert? A date with a girlfriend? A movie?


Don't bash them because they're angry that their plans didn't pan out when they took off work. They were looking forward to this just like you were with something else that you felt was important to you. Now of course, if you don't have a job, that would explain your pointless hostility. Jealousy is a terrible thing you know.

Well in the mean time try out Area 51 Blacksite demo. Its sort but it looks pretty decent.

its not just crackdown people ... Bungie screwed up the email with the code for the Rule of 3 winners ... they sent an email from a server without a PTR record ... which equals instant deletion from Comcast, AOL and any other ISP worth their salt

Today is the worst day in my life. I have lived on this earth for 16 years and there has never been anything more disappointing to me than the halo 3 beta not working for those who have crackdown.They had all this time to prepare their computers and this happens on the day the it finally comes out. I skipped school today just to play this beta. Now I think I failed all my classes. I spent all morning pissed off at bungie and wondering how didn't i get the beta. Im thinking that I did something wrong. But no It was BUNGIE.I go to bungie .net at least 13 times a day. I enjoy going to that site. But today I just want to break my modem. I was so pissed off and i wasnt even talking and my dog could sense how angry I was. My dog wouldn;t even go near me. Everything has been going bad for me iin my life. ANd there is nothing I can do. Ima be real Im from Jersaey city so let me talk my way . Bungie is fucked up. Ima go to school tomoorrrow and here shit from my friends . I'm 27, and I know there are people older than me that have had it worse, but maybe you need to go spend some time in a jail cell, or go through watching a close friend or relative die, and I mean, literally watch them die.
