Halo 3 special edition Zune up for pre-order

Sony aren't the only cats that can leverage a little corporate synergy. Microsoft is using the might of the Halo brand, and the hype of the upcoming Halo 3, to give their Zune music device a little shove from the guy in the MJOLNIR armor.

This Halo-themed Zune won't be available until June 15th, but if you've just got to give someone your money, it's up for pre-order now through game retailers Gamestop / EB Games, where it's an exclusive. $250 buys you a 30GB Zune loaded with Halo 3 goodies like music, videos, and artwork. That box oughta look great right between your $130 Legendary edition and life-size Master Chief plushie.

meh, I doubt anyone other than xbots would buy a Halo Zune. Hell, I doubt many xbots like the zune anyway.

I was just reading up on the Zune and from what I read at Engadget, it was pretty bad.

Might go the iPod route like countless other people.

The Zune is a great music player. It does have a shorter battery life, but the size, quality, and slickness of it all make up for it.

I have a Zune, and I've already pre-ordered this product. Also, not many people have a Zune, so they're always interested to see it. Usually, they are surprised because they think it sucks. It is actually a solid product.

Look into it, don't go off other's basis. ;-)I have an iPod as well, and it's quite alright, too. :-P

Does MC ever take off this helmet? I dont think ive ever seen him pictured without it.. is it one of those Darth Vader life support helmets?

I have a philips digital jukebox. Bash all you want, got 8GB with built in radio tuner, picture viewer (which I never use) and all of that for just $80. And to top that all off, let's put it this way. I plug it into my computer and it's a folder. That's right. No DRMs, no middleware, just drag and drop, baby. iPods and Zune both blow compared to THAT feature.

Will it allow you to play the Halo 3 beta that was suppose to be available hours ago?

I've had my zune since it came out, and I love it actually. It does what I need, and I haven't had any problems with it :D

i like my zune. might give my current to my brother and get this. havent bought any music from zunes service(but i do have 15GB of my CD's in it) most of the time i use the FM radio on it.

had ipod(s) and they were good but it was kinda fragile like the 360.

I also really like my Zune - Going to donate to the wifey and get this one too - Then she can wirelees send me 'honey-do' lists - Yea!

Agreed. my gf has a Clix 4gb, with all the features of a nano, plus video, picture, radio, voice recording, and the bonus of not being owned by itunes

Okay, maybe Halo may not be great in my opinion, but really, do they really expect to appeal to me more by sticking it on a Zune? Lol, thats like sticking Halo logos and themes on a pile of stinky dog crap and expecting people to buy dog crap. Now there will always be someone out there to buy this rubbish, so I'll just crack up over here ^^

I like my Zune... a lot actually. The screen size is nice even though I barely ever use it for videos anymore. Sound quality is good. What I personally like about it is the $15/mo "rental" of music. That has allowed me to listen to music I never would have tried before. Plus as I get older stealing music has become more of a hassle so this keeps it easy for me.

As for the Halo zune, not being a fan of halo I'll never get one but I actually find the styling on it to be quite nice, a little techy with out being full on geek.

How many special edition Ipods has Apple had? How many special edition Gameboys/DSs has Nintendo had? How many special edition Sony systems are their?

I think I can forgive Microsoft for this being only their second Halo branded consumer electronic (the first being the LE Xbox... that I have... yes, my Xbox is see-thru green). And anyone else who can't is just being a bastard.

I mean, I may not like Zune, but I can't deny it looks snazzy.

i really like my zune. the software works so much better then itunes. on a pc itunes is kinda klunky i don't care for it. i don't buy too many songs online so the music service is a wash for me. i also like the controls better on a zune it's easier to use than ipod (while driving or any other time). it's just another music/video player it does it's job great. i switched from ipod (30gb video) i think in the future the zune will have more integration with the live marketplace too. also you can dunp standard mp3's on there without having to convert them.
i just don't get all the bashing i think most of it come from current ipod users.

@3, personally, i like the jukebox software that itunes is, and updating it is hassle free, so if i added music to my jukebox software, it will add it to my player, i like having them together

I've got a Zune and am seriously considering getting this one too. Zune is Awesome and all the haters out there don't know what's good. Good interface, great big screen, Awesome download service with an optional monthly plan for all you can download, XBOX 360 full integration with more to come down the road....I'm completely happy with my Zune.

Gotta love all these IPOD fans that spew nothing but hate. I know...I'm a former IPOD owner.

Halo and Zune sucks!

I find it funny that people are surprised that Microsoft is whoring out Halo. The only reason why Nintendo seems bigger at milking is because they have had Mario for 20+ years. Think of Halo as when Mario began. IN 10+ years, Halo will be as worse as Mario in terms of spam marketing and spin-offs.

AKA: Consumer Whore Edition.

I guarantee 90% of people bashing the Zune have never used one in real life. I don't have a video mp3 player yet, but the Zune is looking good since it's screen is bigger, and I don't like the iPod's click wheel.
