Halo 3 to finish the fight on September 25th

Like someone else said, Halo 3 is not THE most anticipated game ever. It is definatly in the running though. Of all time, the most anticipated game of all time is and probally will be for quite some time Super Mario Brothers 3 (you have any idea how many people watched The Wizard just to see a 5minute clip of SMB3 at the end?) From what I remember FFVII wasn't a big anticipation, however it was super popular once it did come out, but I could be wrong.

You cant just make a list of your favourite games and call them the most anticipated ever.

First of all most games pre internet era just couldnt maintain the levels of hype that are now possible, so while a SMB sequel or Sonic sequel may have been hyped, its just not in the same league as the AAA titles being released now.

I'm a Playstation fan by heard, though I have played Halo 1 and 2 on the xbox.

I enjoyed Halo 1, it was great fun, the story was interesting and it had lots of those "OMG that was so cool" type moments.

Halo 2 was a big let down, it started well but it went down hill and became boring and tedious, I only played to the end simply to play it till the end.

I'll no doubt play halo 3 at some point, if it will be any good I don't know I've stopped listening to hype a long time ago and judge a game myself.

Meh, certainly not my most anticipated game ever, its just another Halo, with more shooting aliens, more driving about aimlessly and another religeuos storyline crap about oricles, rings and spartans etc

First Halo was great, no wait, greater then great, it was untouchable, loved it to bits, was a major Halo fan back then, then Halo 2 came out, nothing new, just a Halo 1.5, to be honset, if it wasn't for multiplayer online, that game was going back to the shop two days after I bought it.

Halo 3? Doesn't look special, doesn't smell special, doesn't seem special and certainly doesnt sound special. My money is staying right where it is, in my back pocket, but 'have fun!' to all those who still have the patience and energy to play this game.

Nothing against the series, it personally just bores me silly to the point where I'd rather pluck out my eyes with tooth picks just to take away the pain of playing...

Most anticipated game of all time. In America.

Anyway, I found it funny someone said "go play Kingdom Hearts". On my personal tastes list, Kingdom Hearts is much higher than Halo. So alrighty then, I'll play Kingdom hearts. Do you think Kingdom Hearts is a low quality game, or "kiddy" by the way? It's neither. But maybe you weren't bashing the game, I hope.

Anyway, how much revenue will stem from retail? Imagine if everyone ordered the ultimate edition (or whatever the name). It has currently 4 million pre-orders, and I predict the total sales will double that. So 8 million X 130 = 1.04 billion. But I doubt everyone will buy it, much less everyone buying it at the 60 dollar price point. I'm betting the average price paid in its life time will 50 dollars (that's counting the SE, the ultimate one, and the price drop one). So probably 400 million in revenues. Nah, that's a little low. Like 600.

I'm still not very excited about this game. I prefer single player, and non-FPS games. I'm still gonna buy it when it reaches $20 bucks on store shelves.

Im not too excited about this game either, but at least I can open my eyes and realize it is the most anticipated. All you fuckers saying it doesn't interest you will end up playing it at a friends house or buying it yourself within a year or two of its release.

Halo 3 probably is the most anticipated game in America of all time. There are some solid contenders like WoW expansions, GTAIV, FF, etc. SMB3 was easily the most anticipated pre-internet game ever. But really, a 5 minute add in a movie and a couple of commercials can hardly compare to what surrounds Halo3 in the modern world.

That doesn't make it the best game ever by any means. But just think about some of these points.

-f'ing Superbowl commercial 8 months early. I can't remember a video game with a Superbowl commercial.
-A Beta that will be the most played online game besides WoW. A f'ing BETA.
-It will sell to near 50% or more of the 360 install base
-360 system sales will spike like a mofo
-They are selling $130 versions of the game that include a cat helmet, and people are preordering it.
-It will be by far and away the most played online game on a console built around online until Halo4. The same console that has the most choices of games to play.
-Just open your eyes and look at how many articles there are on this one little game. Look at how many people post time and time again that they do or don't like the game. Over and over and over. Look at the monster feature IGN has on the game and it is 4 Goddamn months from release!!!

For the record, I am looking forward to Halo3. But I am much more hyped for Forza2 (oh so close) and Mass Effect. Mass Effect may be the most excited I've ever been for a game. Space, open RPG, shooting, tactics, awesome graphics, vehicles, mysterious story to unravel, and "The Force", it is like they took my favorite things and threw them all into a game and added a cool conversation mechanic for good measure.

Halo3 will be fun and all, but I don't expect it to be as good as Gears. It is just a further pimped Halo2. One thing Halo3 will be very good for are those memorable moments. There will be a lot of crazy, lucky, cool kills and you can record them and share them. That is pretty cool, imo. But the basic gameplay of Halo3 is likely to get dull for me quick. I am more looking forward to the single player and Live Co-op of the game. I have a hunch that will be the best in a Halo yet.

I just made a hella long post about a game that I won't really be pumped for until about September 20th. A game that probably won't get played much othat than with my friends because of my likely obsession with Mass Effect. Most anticipated game ever...I think you can at least make a good argument that it is.

It's official, MAss Effect has to be releasing before September, or delayed past September. This sucks.

Isn't the current record for most anticipated game the expansion for WoW? That's all I heard about for months before that thing came out. The two week radius around when it launched made for crappy headlines on all the game sites too. Nothing on anything I was interested in, only WoW expansion everywhere I look.

I don't really see many people shitting their pants about this announcement. Sure it's Halo, and some people just gotsta have it, but after hearing the reviews(read: previews) I don't know if it's going to really have the same impact that Halo 2 did as far as initially coming out the door with high sales. I knew a lot of people that did the whole masterbatetotheirmasterchiefshrine thing before Halo 2 came out and then bitched and whined about it ever since.

#68 I agree completely. Nintendo has almost driven Mario into the ground. It's to the point where they will slap Mario on any game just so it will sell more copies. Halo 3 is a much more anticipated title than Mario Galaxy...at least in the States. Nintendo fans are just having trouble coming to grips with that fact.

You guys must be kidding about Mario Galaxy. It's not even at the anticipation level that was Mario 64 let alone Halo 3. There are also no pre internet era games that have the buzz of Halo 2/3. Commercials are not even running on TV now. Any commercial you have seen before is just a sneak peek. When they start running commercials on a regular it's over. I'm not even a FPS fan and I can appreciate this game.

How the hell do you measure anticipation? Pre-orders don't tell the entire story. This isn't something that's truly quantitative. Not much point in arguing which game is the most anticipated, since no one can really prove anything.

Yes, Halo 3 is heavily anticipated, and - naturally -heavily MARKETED. I would hope that it wouldn't be Halo 2.0, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. It'll probably be as overrated as the rest of the series (yes, I've played both extensively to see what the hype was all about, only to be let down by boredom and yapping little punks who got pissed when a "noob" like me fragged them repeatedly on Live). I'll give it a go, but I fear it'll just end up being another watered down shooter for the masses....sigh.

I'll save my game hours for Mass Effect.

Not only are these four the most anticipated games of all time, they also have the highest sales records of all time, and thats saying something, Halo may be a best seller on Xbox, but the measly 8 mill of Halo 2 sold and 5 mill sold of Halo 1 do not stand up to the 40 mill + that Mario has sold, 20 mill + that Pokemon and GTA have sold and 15 mill + that GT has sold.

The release of Pokemon Diamond recently selling 1 mill on the first weekend of release should tell you lot that Pokemon is one of the most hyped games, despite how stupid some of you may think it to be ^^

I like halo (am horible at it...Named piglet...) but i don't think its my most antispated game of all time. I am happy people are very excited about it. See you can not be totally hyped about a game, but you don't have to call it dumb (like some). I am more hyped about the wii games coming, cause thats what i like. BUT i do no there are millions of halo fans. So can't we all jsut get along! Dont pick on other games that everyone is wanting (unless there sony's).
