NiGHTS gets new subtitle for Japan
Remember when Sega changed the name of Sonic's Wii debut from Wildfire to Sonic and the Secret Rings? We really liked the first name, and quite frankly those rings were never that secret. (There's like hundreds always seemingly stretched along your path.)
At a press conference yesterday, Sega Japan has announced a new title for the title formerly known as NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. Japanese gamers, behold NiGHTS: Hoshifuru Yo no Monogatari, roughly translated by IGN to be Story of the Night of the Falling Stars.
Will other regions see a name change? We think Journey and Story share enough contextual similarities that Sega might end up keeping the previously-revealed title for North America and Europe. Or, at the very least, come up with a more concise translation than Story of the Night of the Falling Stars.

It's like Donkey Kong, except with grammar instead of spelling.

How long before we get stories about "NiGHTS: Claris and Elliot's Wacky Worlds!"?
...probably a couple of hours.

Thats so stupid to rename that game. I got an idea let's name rename every game ever made to crzay long names that nobody will every remember. Why is it somebody is ALWAYS f***ing something up. (sigh) It's still a better game than bruce lee on xbox.

Emphasis on this being the JAPANESE name for the game. Learn to read, people.

I think the name sounds considerably less clunky if you excise the second "the": "Story of the Night of Falling Stars." However, "hoshifuru" apparently actually means "night sky full of stars (to the point that they could just fall out)" and not "falling stars" literally, so perhaps a more accurate translation would be something like "NiGHTS: Story of a Star-filled Sky." I like that well enough.
However, like Angelo says, this is the Japanese name anyway.

Methinks "Journey into Dreams" will remain the English subtitle...
But... how about some alternate translations for the Japanese subtitle (that'd sound better in English, at least)?
"NiGHTS: Falling Star Story" sounds better.

How about just Nights: Night of the Falling Stars?
That works for me...

Perhaps a more appropriate name might be:
NiGHTS: Story of the Night of the Ridiculous Subtitle of the Japanese Version of the Game

Revo:
NiGHTS: Story of the Night of the Ridiculous Subtitle of the Japanese Version of the Game (with stories of falling stars)

Sega: With no console, we need our software offerings to sound extra epic.

I think "Night of the Falling Stars" sounds better. Saying "of the" twice sounds wrong.
