Project Treasure Island Z for Wii renamed extravagantly
Oh, and if you're like us and pronounce the "Z" as "zed", you just completely ruined the headline. Never mind, the importance of the information about to be conveyed far outweighs such a triviality. In a quick e-mail blast, Capcom has announced that the Wii's gesture-based puzzle adventure game, Project Treasure Island Z, has been been given the final title of Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure.
It's undoubtedly an improvement, especially from a marketing perspective. A glance at the name tells us all we need to know:
It's undoubtedly an improvement, especially from a marketing perspective. A glance at the name tells us all we need to know:
- The game stars two wacky and lovable characters. You know, just like Jak & Daxter, Sonic & Mario and, err, Kane & Lynch!
- It involves a quest!
- For treasure!
- That belongs to someone else! This is sure to be a major hit with the GTA crowd.

it doesn't look that bad...might be fun for the "intro to zelda" crowd maybe.
BPM @ May 16th 2007 9:21PM
Wow, what a long title...
Next-Gen-Gamer @ May 16th 2007 9:24PM
They're competing with Dragon Quest for longest Wii game title. Sorry guys, DQ still takes the cake.
kingofwale @ May 16th 2007 9:30PM
If this is the game I think it is. then IGN had nothing bad to say about it, they fricken loved it. They said the game is very well-thoughout and hard (hard as in... if you die, you go back to the beginning of the level)
We shall see, the name won't hurt the game, Unless the name is "Dynasty Warrior, Gundam"
ew

Wow, I'm loving these screenshots, I hate to admit it, but this may just be the game I buy a Wii for.
Next-Gen-Gamer @ May 16th 2007 9:35PM
kingofwale, I must say, I didn't think that would be your response. Kudos.

just because you and few others label me as "anti Wii" and Sony fanboy, it doesn't mean I am.
and frankly, I will NEVER accept an incompetent software regardless what console it's on.
when a good games comes out, people should praise it, because the design teams actually put their heart and soul into it. On the same token, garbage games should be bashed.

To be fair, I branded you "troll".

I'm pretty pumped by this game... It looks good, and it's made by Capcom. :)
kingofwale @ May 16th 2007 10:07PM
well, I branded you as an idiot, so we are even. :)

I think if we had to consult Will Smith on this one he'd probably say something like,
"Wiki Wii, Wiki-wiki-Wii, Wiki-wiki-Wild, Wild Wii!"

Nice screens, really like the art direction. Does look like it needs some aliasing done, but other than that looks good, especially what the wii has been getting. Hard games is a nice change of pace if it is the game kingofwhale was describing. I remember being around seven or eight and playing those kings quest games to death on the pc. 66Mhz FTW. Those were hard... at least to a eight year old. I want a puzzle game I can play for weeks, get frustrated as all hell and leave it for a few days, come back after an epiphany and be disgusted in myself I couldn't figure it out before. Weeks of frustration is what I'm looking for.

@12
I think I peed myself at that response.
Not because it was funny(because it wasn't), but because I'm scared for the fact that some people might laugh at that. :)

Wins the Thread!

"Zack & Wiki", eh? Does that mean we can edit the game as we see fit? Assuming proper citations, of course.

Don't forget, the name also tells us that it will be editable by the general public, easily vandalized, guarded by uptight editors, and a general source of useless knowledge and/or incorrect biographies.

This game actually looks like it could be a very fun platformer-esque type game...
Can't wait to see more developments come out for it.
Mr Khan @ May 17th 2007 4:00PM
Hell, this game looks like Treasure Island (or any of the other old point and click adventures) meets Zelda, or a cross between God of War and Elder Scrolls, at least in terms of concept
should be cool, despite its desperately kiddy appeal
