Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 has been licensed by Sega of America and Sega of Europe. The technology will be used in several as-of-yet unannounced projects being developed in North America.Other high-profile Japanese developers who have taken to license the engine recently include Capcom and Square Enix, the latter developer having already already shown gorgeous results with The Last Remnant.
What could Sega be up to? Despite the adjacent graphic, we really don't think the Japanese-based Sonic Team will be using the engine. However, there was a recently-announced Sega project that we think would fit perfectly with the catalog of titles currently going Unreal: Condemned 2. That's just a guess, mind you: Sega's press release noted that "details of the projects currently being worked on" will be given later this year.
