Folklore journeys from the Netherworld to PlayStation 3

Sony surprised us by announcing this title yesterday, and it's been flying completely under our radar. Developed by Tokyo's Game Republic under game creator Yoshiki Okamoto, executive producer of Onimusha, Devil May Cry and Resident Evil, Folklore is a dark fantasy adventure inspired by Western fairy tales.
You can play the game as occult journalist Keats, or folk story enthusiast Ellen, both of whom have specific backstories, and extremely different methods of attack. As you journey into the fantastic Netherworld to solve a murder, you encounter over 100 different fantasy creatures. Although they were inspired by Western fairy tales, each one has been originally designed for this came.
Adding a twist with the Sixaxis controller is the ability to literally tear the powers out of the creatures you defeat by flicking your wrists. Your own skills develop with each power you collect, and the game promises over 40 hours of gameplay with seven different realms to explore.

It looks interesting :) I wonder if it will have the chupacabra in it.

Let me get this straight... THIS GAME took you by suprise? Not I. If fact, if you go back to some earlier post by me, you would see me hyping an upcoming PS3 game known as Monster Kingdom. Why is this relevant? Because I kept mentioning it again as Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summor hit PSP since that was this games prequel. I changed my tune when Monster Kingdom later became Folksoul for Japan (www.play-asia.com has a listing) and it eventually became Folklore for the US. So this game, in it's lifespan, has had 4 different names. But it's been around since the huge unveiling TGS.

Arlo Guthrie kicks ass. Alice's Restaurant would be awesome on SingStar. Both an endurance and musical challenge .

Reminds me of Luigi's Mansion... =P

Further proof that warlocks need to be nerfed. They're selling PS3 games now!

Man, Onimusha is one of my favorite series -- if they pull this off, it may just sell me a PS3... eventually. After the first price drop, probably. No way I'm shelling out over 500 bucks at one go for a game.
