That looked really good. The character customization trailer is hilarious.

It'll be a great game to play with your kids.

This is the only thing on PS3 that has me at all excited. I still have very big doubts about the game play and fun of the title, but hte art direction is awesome.

The rest of the newly announced stuff is derivative crap and, for the most part, completely uninteresting.

"This game is going to leave Halo in the dust! It will outsell Mario, Zelda, GTA. Add Home to this and the PS3 has already won 2007, and will be #1 in 2008. Plus, we've got blu-ray, you fucks! All your base."

the only way this game will be anything other than a failure on the PS3 is if they give the characters urban weapons and they all act like thugs and shoot each other.
Otherwise it shall be instantly labeled "GAAAAAAAY!" by the average PS3 owner and collect dust on store shelves.

I see this suffering the same fate Viva Pinata had with only a small demographic buying the game and not enough for it to mean much.

But I must say the graphics on this look great and make Viva Pinata look last gen. I really like the "earthy" color tones vs Pinata's blind you with color approach.

Yes, I was kidding! Come on, LBP will not beat any of those classic games, don't be silly. I was just role-playing as SDF for a minute... I feel sick about it.

Eh, looks like a kiddy game. Right Sony fanboys? Remember how you call all Nintendo games kiddy? Now you are on the Little Big Planet bandwagon for some reason.

Game looks great, I just find the hypocrites amusing.

Even thought the graphics would not have been the same, this game would sell better on a Nintendo system. If it was on a Nintendo system, people would give it negative remarks but it would sell. But because it is on Sony, it will get praise from hypocrites and probably commercially flop like Loco Roco.

I think it's sad that Marco Lara has hit the nail on the head.

If this was on a Nintendo system, it would sell like gangbusters. But the PS3? It doesn't matter how gorgeous this thing is or how advanced the physics are. It'll be criticially acclaimed and, unless there's a dramatic increase in casual uptake of the PS3, it won't sell as well as it could.

Which is ashame, cause it's a cute game.

This game *is* a system seller. As somebody who has never been tempted by either previous Playstation version, I intend to buy a PS3 as soon this is released. I've always owned a Nintendo system (and Xbox/Xbox360), but the Wii's graphics (although better than the PS2 do suck. I can't wait to play this game with my kids.

Marco is a fool.

Wii wouldn't be able to play this game anyways. Not enough power.

the Wii could never technically maintain this game.

cute or not, photorealism looks to be a big part of this game. you feel like you're manipulating actual puppets and objects.

that said, this game looks amazing. if it comes out this year, i may actually break 5 whole games in my PS3 game collection.

"If this was on a Nintendo system, it would sell like gangbusters."

While I agree that it would definitely sell better on a Nintendo system, I don't know if saying it'd sell like 'gangbusters' is accurate, either.
After all, who would have thought that Viewtiful Joe or even something like Beyond Good & Evil would have failed on a Nintendo system?
And yet, they both 'failed'.

Beyond Good and Evil and Viewtiful Joe were third party, multi-platform titles. What the main contention is is it that is is more likely that if the game was a First Party Nintendo title on a Nintendo system, it would sell much higher and receive less criticism than the Sony offering.

This game needs marketing up the wazoo.

Seriously, if they sold customizeable puppets that were made out of the different materials and had a random assortment of clothing and items to attach, this would make a great toy that would help sell the game in the "little kid" demograpic.

OR

They should somehow implement a system whereby the in game character you create can be purchased through the company via a team up with Mattel or whatever. Sure most teenagers wouldn't want this but tons of kids who had this game would beg their parents for one.

It's kind of like that doll Lilo has in Lilo and Stich, you "make it yourself".

If you're making a game that looks like Pixar made it, you should market it like Pixar would.

P.S. I am a Nintendo Hyper-Fanboy and think it is ironic that Sony is going for a gamestyle that truly seems Nintendo envisioned.

I think its the marketing strategy that will make this successful. Download followed up by a disc with top content. It will also hot the niche for many of the home fanatics that arnt interested in hardcore games. Where as the more hardcore players would probably feed into the casual market because of the game 3.0 mechanics. But all that depends on how its implemented and its waaay to early to speculate.

@Jack of No Trades

I disagree. I think that this game could feasibly play on the Wii. Granted, there wouldn't be the large number of textures or crazy blur effects, but I don't see why the core game couldn't be recreated. The game relies on rag-doll physics which have been around since the late nineties. We've seen the technique used on several occasions during this past console generation, so we know its possible on previous generation hardware. Also, remember that the developer of LittleBigPlanet, Media Molecule, is only working with Sony because Sony approached them just before Nintendo. If Nintendo had been quicker at the draw, you better believe that this game (or one very similar) would have appeared on the Wii.

"Cue the same people who deplore N games for being cutesy responding to this game with adulation."

They complain Nintendo is a kiddy company cause they release next to none(probably none) mature titles themselves.

Sony on the other hand is quite varied in what games they make themselves. Nintendo is not.

Hence, Nintendo is kiddy, Sony is not.

I'll agree with others

This game seems to have been built for the IGN award for 2007 "best game that nobody played" (Viva Pinata won last year, and Psychonauts the year before), and remember that Viva Pinata too was well advertised (it had a TV show), but still failed to sell well

an adorable platformer/teamwork concept

This looks to be a very promising game in both the physics and customization areas. I'm annoyed that Sony has chosen such a bad direction with the PS3 so far, because it's the decision to go with games like these that I'd like to see coming from Sony.

I'm sure my opinion is going to be discarded when I say I'm a Wii owner and Nintendo enthusiast, but I'm a gamer first and foremost, and I think this game looks awesome.
