Another thing, I think for the backup problem of a legit disc, M$ should give a life time warranty on the disc so people won't have to worry about needing a backup or at least a cheap replacement program if scratched. That would hopefully cut down on the modders needing to backup there disc’s. I am sure that is not all there backing up though but if someone that has paid for many years and have grown tired of paying for their disc’s only to become unplayable due to a small scratch, they’re going to turn to modding.

if you really want a modded xbox360 , buy yourself a core , only for offline gaming , do not connect it EVER on internet and the account you create must be for offline purpose only , and if you have a premium , you use that one for bought games and mostly for live.

What are you guys talking about? Players using pirated games messing games up? That makes no sense :S Other than the fact that they can play games downloaded etc there is no "advantage towards cheating" or anything of that sort. You guys make it seem like there is a chance of modded systems causing probs on live which makes no sense at all. Lol know wtf your talking about before you drop utter shit.

@52: When did they say it was about pirating games? Not once. It is possible to mod your system for other purposes. I was playing a game of WWE SVR 2007. Within the game people use head butts and punch combos that in various faqs have been stated as screw ups and cheap moves that they didn't think ahead for blah blah blah. Anyway, one game I played, the picture for the selected superstars of my opponents were of The Rock, in game they were actually The Great Khali and John Cena. Their scores for wins were also at Zero and losses at somewhere around the 10 area. I know they modded either their saves or their live profiles because within their gamer profiles they had the achievements for 50 and 100 online wins. That may not be an example of how they get "infinite ammo and such in Halo" but they do play unfairly by not showing that they are experienced players. Therefore beginners in the field play Xbox live for the first, or even 10th or 20th, time. They see another player who may not be familiar with the game. They think to themselves "Oh, I'll play with him, at least we both have an equal or similar experience level. I think you can figure the rest out for yourself.

Forgot to mention one thing. People aren't paying for games. That's why you mod your systems? If you like the product support them. They didn't have to make it. Besides, they didn't make it for you specifically. Why should you get it for free?

Don't take this personal fellow gamers.
I think it is total crap that the 360 ban is in affect. So what somebody or everybody wants to mod their 360. They paid $400+ for the damn thing and games are anywhere from $29.99-$65.00 new and used. They paid for it, so why not do what they want ie; hack, mod ect. When you buy it, the system is yours. Okay there is laws of altering or void warranty. But if it wasn't for these "modders and hackers" we wouldn't have an Xbox360. What they did was take all the modded original xbox consoles and packaged it and called it a 360. The original was able to play backups, media center, surf the web ect.
They marketed millions off some modder who started it all. Thats what you get for putting an almost PC in a console with a hard drive. They should thank modders for making them rich. As far as the cheating? I agree. They should be banned because it ruins it for everyone. So what you have a backup of a game. There are copyright laws for that. MS isn't the law. They are generating business because everyone wants a modded 360. They ban you and you have to buy a new box. Nice plan to get more money. I think it's bull that people are like "yeah they should ban em" Just jealousy speaking. It's just a game system. Don't hate because others have one. Hate the cheaters.

as far as IP address issue. They shouldn't ban anything but your console from my understanding. Try going to your internet options and renewing your IP or have your provider assign a new one for you. Let me know if that works

WHat the man is sayin is that the modders are not cheating. There is no mod for the 360 that allows you to change gameplay. So all you idiots that think a modded 360 allows glitching you are wrong. All the mod does is allow you to play a "backup" copy of the original. Has nothing to do with changin gameplay. Just tryin to save a buck and thats all. I have 25 games and 9 of them are purchased from the store. Thats $540. The rest saved me over $900 for a game i might play for a cpl eof days. I store purchased Gears,Graw2, crackdown, etc. all the big titles. But games like spiderman 3 or TMNT, or lego star wars II, ill be damn if m gonna pay $60 for that.
Hackers will always be smarter than developers and do your research before you go off spouting out the mouth about crap you dont know about!

I don't think modders should be banned. Here's why modding sucks for gamers like me to pay full price for a game ,they pay little to nothing, but When they mod and go on live theres no cheating. Thier mods are just so they can have a free game not to cheat. So i think a ban is a little harsh. Like some one stated in thier comment of dowloading an mp3 samething do they ban your internet should they?

i have a modded console and i think its stupid as its ms who are losing out on their 40 quid a year subscriptions and all those rip off downloads that people are paying for stupidly, inc. me on a few games.i still get online free on my ps3 anyway and i think that within a year the ps3 will take over no1 spot anyway as it has far greater potential as a machine and online is looking promising. plus i can still play my £5.00 360 games offline so up yours ms

I understand why microsoft is doing this, there is alot of piracy when it comes to this subject.

Now I actually have a modded console, and yes I was one of the many thousands who were banned. But what's wrong with backing up the games you own. That's all I did. I don't feel like paying 60$ for another copy of a game I ALREADY PAYED FOR.
And many of you are very narrow minded. We aren't modding to "Cheat, or Hack" in games. Most of us modded just for the purpose of playing backups.

Just a couple of points :

My machine is modded.
I have no interest in cheating whatsoever.
I have 12 original games of which none of those I can now play online.
I'm a Gold Live account member and have paid for numerous live arcade titles and add ons eg.. Guitar Hero 2 extra song pack.

I can understand Microsoft wanting to stem the tide of pirate games but all they appear to have done in this case is lose all my income for my live subscription, all my income from arcade titles and downloads and any further income from me purchasing originals. I mean, whats the point anymore ? none of them are ever gonna work online ?

BUT..the one thing they set out to stop I can still do..use backups..and if anything I'll probably use a damn sight more now.

Bizarre.

Ban My Xbox Will You?
Unubscribe i have
xbox you may have got rid of us for now. but we will be back and you will never be able to stop us.

and to those who say modders ruin game experience you will find most people woth modified xbox`s are actually rather polite as they know they are playing for free and dont wish to rub it in.

personally looking back at when i paid £40 per game i mustve spent at least £1000 on games headsets controllers etc and when i encountered a modder i didnt dislike them, i dislike annoying little children who shouldnt even be on Live in the first place.

Maybe Xbox should find some way to jsut charge modders more each month for live than to totally ban us as they will lose an effective amount of revenue.

I've been banned myself and I don't think it's a bad thing, actually. It's just the toll you pay for illegaly playing games. I know I shouldn't have modded my xbox360, but I 'm looking for a solution at the moment. I need to know HOW microsoft has banned my xbox360, so that I can go online via another way. Can anyone help me with giving me the information I need?

I was planning to buy another xbox360, without any additional stuff and using the hard-drive that was part of the modded xbox360. Does this work? I mean, without connecting the modded xbox360 to the internet?

Thanks in advance.
