Seriously, Project Gotham Racing 3 is not a PS3 game
Alright, this is getting ridiculous. For the third time in almost as many months, a sports model from Project Gotham Racing 3 has becoming an unwitting spokesmodel for Sony's PlayStation 3. Having already been mistaken for Gran Turismo HD and used to promote the PS3 in a KIA ad, Microsoft's exotic car racer now finds itself inside Dutch magazine, Mediamarkt, as posted in the Bizarre Creations forums. The depicted Saleen has likely been in those pages before... just not in an article discussing the PlayStation 3's future.
Is this indicative of some deeply rooted desire for a multiplatform excursion for the series? Perhaps it's some subtle commentary on the lack of distinguishing features in the racing genre? We'll ponder these questions and more once we've finished our race in the Forizmo demo. Or whatever.
[Thanks, v]

hey if your system has no good games why not steal someone else's.
Bachus @ May 18th 2007 8:04PM
M$'s crazy viral marketing schemes may be out clever-ing even sony. now i just sit and wait for them to buyout joystiq...
Snukadaman @ May 18th 2007 8:04PM
unlike the kia ad where someone at sony had too be told about the use of the ps3 on their ad...this is all the fault of the magazine....but seriously...gthd aint good enough??
zwarrior @ May 18th 2007 8:18PM
It's Sony admitting that PRG is the better game
The Man @ May 18th 2007 8:20PM
I wish PGR3 would play on my ps3. Oh well even if it would my ps3 is off for repair anyways...
Jim @ May 18th 2007 8:21PM
Will swap PGR3 for MGS4, deal?
Matt B @ May 18th 2007 9:49PM
I'm a little confused, are we supposed to be mad at someone over this? What is the purpose of this story otherwise?
"Oh snap!! These people in foreign lands are making mistakes in their advertising, on multiple occasions........... Or are they?????"
Joshua @ May 18th 2007 10:07PM
UnBELIEVable!
syco @ May 18th 2007 10:08PM
I think this was subtle attempt to sell us a car.
Raynre @ May 18th 2007 10:35PM

Tadioku @ May 18th 2007 10:46PM
seriously, why use a graphically inferior game to talk about the PS3? GTHD should be the game being shown...unless the Dutch don't have the demo yet?
DM @ May 18th 2007 11:38PM
This isn't Sony's fault. They didn't make the magazine. The Kia ad was Sony's fault though.
hahanoob @ May 18th 2007 11:46PM
I think we were supposed to assume Sony was behind it and hop on the hate train. Sorry, Ludwig =(
PhoenixSS @ May 18th 2007 11:47PM
This is hilarious. Truly. I'm not a fanboy of either console, (I own a 360 and a PS2), but for god's sake seriously know your mtf role dudes. "Hay guys! I found this cool car picture on a Google image search! I'm sure it's from something... uh... whatever so lets use it for the promo!"
Come on Sony... I don't care if you're not directly responsible for creating these, know who the f*ck you're working with.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ May 19th 2007 12:34AM
@hahanoob,
Actually, no. This has nothing to do with hate. It's about laughing at a game being mistaken for something else (from a competing platform) three times in a row. If you think it's some sort of attack on Sony, you're reading way too much into it.
Jon @ May 19th 2007 2:59AM
@Snukadaman,
Even the Kia ad isn't Sony's problem. It's Kia's.
Dan @ May 19th 2007 4:26AM
Why doesn't microsoft sueing these idiots?
Not that I think they need the money, but I guess you'd just expect M$ to be a bit pissed.
Rence @ May 19th 2007 5:32AM
Actually, Media Markt is a chain of stores like Best Buy, and most likely this is one of their brochures. Not surprisingly they get things wrong on occasion.
BPM @ May 19th 2007 5:44AM
Yeah, only the first mistake is Sony's fault, since it was on THEIR site.
Still, this is made of massive lulz. Especially the Kia ad, since there was a PGR LICENSE PLATE IN THE PICTURE HURRRRRR
DoggySpew @ May 19th 2007 5:47AM
What Rence said is true.
Mediamarkt is not affiliated with Sony or Microsoft. It's a stupid mistake of the makers of the brochure.
Now all you fanboys, go home. Nothing to see here.
Kompressor @ May 19th 2007 4:39PM
@DoggySpew
it's not the fact whos fault it is, its the concept that PGR3 (360 exclusive) looks so good there isn't anything on ps3 can compete with it, otherwise they would have used that
Zeus the God @ May 19th 2007 9:29PM
"11. seriously, why use a graphically inferior game to talk about the PS3? GTHD should be the game being shown...unless the Dutch don't have the demo yet?"
HA! Don't you know that the graphical capabilities on the 360 are far superior to those of the PS3?
We'll see when PGR4 and Forza 2 come out, if your GTHD can stand a chance.
ck @ May 19th 2007 9:40PM
Kompressor: holy shit do you actually believe what you typed, or did someone tell you they heard once from some guy that knew someone that one particular game might look slightly better than some other game that's not released yet?
Judging by your post, chances are you own an original Xbox and not much else, as you have no idea what you're talking about. The worst kind of fanboy.
Zeus the God @ May 19th 2007 9:52PM
ck, Kompressor is correct. PS3 has no games that look better than PGR3, and with Forza 2 and PGR4 coming out, the PS3 doesn't stand a chance with GTHD or GT5.
ck @ May 19th 2007 11:24PM
I really love the way you guys make sweeping judgement calls on GAMES YOU'VE NEVER SEEN.
Jesus. Talk about making yourself look uninformed.
Let's look at some facts:
* PGR4 isn't out.
* GT5 isn't out.
* GTHD is a *>tech demo
ck @ May 19th 2007 11:25PM
Hmm Nice - it stripped my message after the less than symbol. anyway:
* PGR4 isn't out.
* GT5 isn't out.
* GTHD is a *tech demo* for E3 cobbled together using GT4 assets and a render engine Polyphony had available at the time. Customers demanded it be released as a PS3 title, so it was.
If you think you can compare any of these games and come to a conclusion about who has (or will have) the best racing game, you're a fucking moron.
P.S. I own both platforms, yadda yadda, etc. Yay me.
Zeus the God @ May 20th 2007 2:43AM
Yeah, ck, it doesn't matter if they aren't out yet. The thing that DOES matter, is the fact that the Xbox's GPU is far more advanced than the RSX in the PS3, so the graphics WILL be better.
Don't believe me? Do some research. Here, I'll give you a link to a website, giving you the info you need to know.
http://dpad.gotfrag.com/portal/story/35372/?spage=7
Look at pages 7, 8, and maybe 9.
The PS3's processor may be able to handle physics a *bit* better, but as far as graphics go, the PS3 is dead.
The Keem @ May 20th 2007 9:18AM
Not to hate or anything (I own a 360 myself) I don't know much about GPU, i know that the CPU on the ps3 is marginally more powerful in effect, though that may be negligible.
In the end it comes down to both systems can handle immense amounts of data, just the storage medium on the PS3 is bound to give it the leg up with texture quality and amount of textures.
I await a PS3 racing game to be in my hands before i come to any final stance on which system has more substantial testicular fortitude.
razer @ May 21st 2007 12:48PM
"17. Why doesn't microsoft sueing these idiots?
Not that I think they need the money, but I guess you'd just expect M$ to be a bit pissed."
Because MS is too busy attacking their customers with Bans and Red Lights of Death to be worried about this.. Well I guess there a large company so they could probably spare a lawyer or 2.
colts_are_the_champions @ May 28th 2007 9:15AM
keem the storage disk does not increase or decrease the texture quality. It just stores it just like everything else. I can effect how many disks are needed which would be a advantgage to Sony. Or how fast it loads it which would be a advantgage to microsoft. One the cell is not as powerful as the 360s cpu. As the lead of the makers of gears will tell you, No game has used more than of microsofts six cpu threads yet.
colts_are_the_champions @ May 28th 2007 9:16AM
Okay lets say this was not Sonys fault what about the other two? Seems to me they dont eactly have a policy against it. I have NEVER seen sega or nintendo do it all the years they had systems. Not once! But now Sony has the it twice (that you can say for sure is there fault) inside of a few months!!!? Something is rotten about this. But like the man said. Why showcase your product with inferrior graphics. Isnt Fony known for having fake representation of their games anyway? Killzone, motorstorm,mgs4,warhawk,assins creed. etc anyone?
