Rayman Raving Rabbids to return for Wii, DS
Those rabbids are coming back. NGamer magazine has learned from Ubisoft that they are currently working on a sequel to Rayman Raving Rabbids that will give background on their training for world domination. And lots of minigames, of course.
As a game, Rayman Raving Rabbids was an entertaining though somewhat inconsistent collection of great (anything with Disco) and not-so-great (e.g., "Bunnies don't like open bathroom doors") minigames. As a character, however, the rabbids and their hilarious videos have touched us like no other adorable conquistadors ever have. We'll never forget their battle cry: gaaaaaaaahhhh!
It's currently unknown whether Sony or Microsoft will see rabbid love, as the Nintendo-centric magazine only mentioned DS and Wii as consoles the game will appear on. A book in the Xbox 360 version's case hinted at a sequel as well, and we expect Ubisoft to ultimately release this on every platform available. No release date has been announced.

Bunnies don't like open bathroom doors was awesome.

I'm so glad you said that, because bunnies don't like open bathroom doors was HORRIBLE! don't get me wrong, the concept was funny, but the controls were so terrible. The game was very bizarre, and I liked it, but there were certain minigames which totally just pissed me off.

letsssss dance with bunnied. lol
Dopple Boppler @ May 19th 2007 7:16PM
I'd buy it if the whole game was just dancing and racing mini-games. There'd have to be a lot of them, but the few that were in the first one were ridiculously fun.

I hope it's Wii specific because the 360 version was bad.
Lijik @ May 19th 2007 8:12PM
When you figure out you have to put the hand over the bunny, bunnies never close doors becomes incredibly fun.
And yay for more Rabbids! Although for some reason I was hoping for Ed from Tonic Trouble to be in the sequel. I do not know why, and I will slap myself.

no... I can't stand another mini-game collection even if it is Rayman...
Mini-games = downfall of Wii

I'll consider getting the sequel, but I think they should make it a platformer. The multiplayer was pretty weak considering it was a party game.
As far as "Bunnies don't like open bathroom doors" goes, I hated it. Not because the minigame was bad, but they didnt explain how to play it the right way. I though that in order to close the door you had to do the closing motion with the pointer on top of the actual door, but after about a half hour of struggling I found out all I had to do was center the pointer relative to the sides of the bathroom. I didn't even need to be touching the doors! That really pissed me off.

Chugger,
The mini-games for the Wii thus far have sold fairly well. I don't really see how they will be a downfall. The Wii isn't selling to the same crowd that the 360 and PS3 are.

That video clip missed one of the best "Bunnies can't..." videos!

^ After seeing this vid, I actually made the 'DAA!' a ringtone on my phone! Used it for incoming messages, and got lots of weird looks.

Who cares about the multiplatform versions? The Wii version would be the only one worth owning anyway...
Kye @ May 20th 2007 4:51AM
Where I live, the majority of used Wii games in Gamestation are RaymanRRs. That tells you (me) two things.
1: Minigames are cool for a while.
2: Minigames stop being cool after a while for the majority of people.
I hope metroid is a huge game, I also hope Nintendo spreads its nets wide and try to get some new IP in epic blockbuster form.
In short, I bought RaymanRR , would I buy Rayman RR 2? No. Would I buy Halo Wii? Fuck yes.
Thanx for listening.

I can't see them producing a sequel for the 360 *unless* the concept changes dramatically (ie, it becomes a platformer) or it's incredibly easy port for relatively no cost. The 360 version of Rayman Raving Rabbids really didn't sell that well, but then again, the controls were ridiculously easy and you could finish the game after several hours of play.
There was a plot, sorta, but the repeatition of the same scenes becomes a little annoying after a while. And the load screens are interesting once. Too bad you have to watch them over and over and over again. I kept thinking to myself, is that all there is to this game? Just a bunch of mini games, some of which that repeat?
On the Wii, I guess it makes more sense with the motion controls.

I bought the original Raving Rabbids.
I loved it, but I only got about 4 hours of and eventully sold it for 20 bucks.
So i'll give this one a rent.
Diskoboy @ May 20th 2007 1:59PM
Please make Rayman a platformer, again.
I'm so sick of mini games, I could scream.
Sami @ May 20th 2007 7:21PM
Thanks for the pics, SWAT doctor! This is going to be awesome, I'm already getting so hyped about the sequel. Minigames for the everlasting win!
Grog @ May 20th 2007 7:57PM
No reason to pick on good mini-game collections just because some are not.
Almack64 @ May 21st 2007 11:19AM
I think one of the biggest problems with minigames and wii contols in a lot of games is that the instructions more often than not, do not instruct. I've seen this in Rayman, Cooking Mama, Monkeyball party mode, Sonic party mode, TMNT, even in-game actions like in Call of Duty. With that said once you do figure out what you are supposed to (what was programed) the controls work perfectly.
Take the bathroom door thing for instance, once I figured out that between each close attempt (shake of the nunchuck) I had to stop shaking before I could attempt again it was cake. And I felt really stupid that it took me so long to figure that out, with that said they should have told me that was how it worked.
One game I really have to give credit to is SSX Blur, while people complain about how hard it is to do ubers at least they have the option to practice them and then there is feedback to tell you if you're doing it right.
