Geometry Wars: Galaxies shooting for Wii, DS
Humanity's vendetta against simple (and notably evil) geometric shapes is set to continue its expansion beyond the humble beginnings as a bonus in Project Gotham Racing. Xbox Live Arcade, Vista and mobile phones now find themselves joined in the war by the Wii and DS, at least if the July issue of Nintendo Power is to be believed. A blurb in the magazine (via Buttonbasher) asserts that Geometry Wars: Galaxies will be arriving on both Nintendo platforms thanks to the efforts of "the dev team responsible for Battalion Wars."
That would imply the involvement of the UK's Kuju Entertainment, which is apparently hard at work grafting "an extensive single-player campaign" onto the game's frantic combat. Of course, we fully expect a gripping and operatic storyline to go with it, something along the lines of an intergalactic mathemagician attempting to tri-strangulate vital supply route coordinates. Alas, our expectations are oft set too high. A multiplayer mode and prior versions of Geometry Wars are also said to be included in both packages, expected to materialize this Fall.
It probably wouldn't be absurd to expect a new Geometry Wars game alongside Bizarre's Project Gotham Racing 4 either.

I don't know that Geometry Wars will translate very well to the Wii. What's more is I definitely know it won't be worth anything more than 10$ and if it gets a disc relase it will be more than that.
sigh, another port.

My great-great-grandmother heard this news when she was still in the womb. Try doing your job once in a while.
But yes, great news. I'm curious how well this will work with the Wiimote.
Jon @ May 21st 2007 9:44PM
A MS published Bizarre Creation game actually developed product on a Nintendo console? This actually gives more substance to the rumoured PGR for PS3 game.
DarkTetsuya @ May 21st 2007 9:44PM
Are you sure there isn't also a PSN download in the works?
Yeah, I went there.
wackychan @ May 21st 2007 9:50PM
Have fun playing a $50 game that I played on xbox live for $10 my wiiwii friends!
Ludwig Kietzmann @ May 21st 2007 9:50PM
Too bad she didn't have access to a keyboard or a vocabulary at that stage, eh Eric B?
Ian Von Porter @ May 21st 2007 9:56PM
So, something that is a $10 downloadable game.. passes for a full $50 game on the Wii? Hey, you guys bought Cooking Mama and WarioWare.. so why not.
ChaCshing..
Eric B @ May 21st 2007 10:04PM
Do you know that for sure Ludwig Kietzmann?
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:06PM
Wait, where did it say that this is a 50$ full priced game?
superberg @ May 21st 2007 10:07PM
Where is everyone getting this $50 price from? Who's to say whether it's available for download as WiiWare? Who's to say it's not a $19.99 DS game?
Still overpriced, even at $19.99, but you folks are price gouging before the game has even been announced. Slow your roll, suckas.
Cale @ May 21st 2007 10:07PM
how would it work withe ds. D-pad moves and touch screen shoots. It reminds me of MPH cramp controls. Still hoping it will be good though.
JodyAnthony @ May 21st 2007 10:08PM
"Wait, where did it say that this is a 50$ full priced game?"
in magical anti-nintendo fanboy land. I hear in that magical place they actually think that ps3 is doing well and nintendo is going third party.
Craigo @ May 21st 2007 10:09PM
10: It doesn't. But never let the facts get in the way of an anti-Nintendo screed.
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:09PM
With the DS I would imagine that it would simply be probably D-PAD to move and touchscreen to aim. And probably some alternate control scheme where you move with the touch screen and then press like maybe, the L button to stand still and aim.
Eh.
Fernando Rocker @ May 21st 2007 10:10PM
@Ian Von Porter and wackychan
Where did you read that this game is going to cost $50 for the Wii? Shut your fucking mouth!
Devs are starting to realize that is better to invest on the Wii than in the PS3... so, dont be upstet.
Learn to be a good loser...
JodyAnthony @ May 21st 2007 10:12PM
wackychan, what does it matter to you? dont you only play system-linked shooters?
Gavin @ May 21st 2007 10:13PM
Wii owners got suckered into paying $50 for Cooking Mama, which was a port of a DS game you can buy for $15 and then they pretend that they aren't getting shafted. Yeah, how in the world did anyone get the impression that you can pump out guickie ports of old games on the Wii and charge $50 for it? Yeah, where in the world do people get that idea? I just don't know...
Keif @ May 21st 2007 10:15PM
You mean like the 60 dollar 360 games at launch that were just shitty ports of last gen games?
Craigo @ May 21st 2007 10:16PM
And Gavin joins "reading comprehension is teh gay" club.
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:19PM
@Gavin, Cuffmonkey, Von Portard, and Wackychan
1. This is not a port. This is its own game.
2. Nobody said it was going to cost $50.
3. SHUT THE FUCK UP! You only make yourself look stupid.
wackychan @ May 21st 2007 10:22PM
19. "You mean like the 60 dollar 360 games at launch that were just shitty ports of last gen games?"
Actually development time for 360 and ps3 games takes more than 2 days to make. Maybe we should be paying $50 for our games, but in that case you should be paying $10. Stop sucking on the devils Wii and then you'll understand.
Fernando Rocker @ May 21st 2007 10:24PM
Ahh... and by the way, its going to include also the 360 version...
Right now you must be bursting into flames, 360 bashings fanboys...
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:24PM
Sorry, but i'm new here. Is it always like this in the comment section?
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:26PM
@Wackychan
Jesus christ, if you don't realize the amount of logical fallacies you spew every time you open your mouth then I an REALLY scared about the state that humanity is in right now! I mean, seriously. How could you NOT realize that you're not a fricking moron, after at least 5 people take the time to debunk your crap ON EVERY THREAD you've ever posted on! Just stop. We get it, you're a disgruntled middle schooler who doesn't like the Wii. Everyone knows that by now, so you really don't need to continue posting.
JodyAnthony @ May 21st 2007 10:28PM
Beni, run while you can, before you get sucked in. i thought i would just stop by once in a while in the comments section, but let me tell you, once you get in, theres no getting out.
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:28PM
@Beni Nkangoh
Yes, every time.
You'll find that that's the driving factor that will keep you coming back to this site.
JodyAnthony @ May 21st 2007 10:28PM
wackychan and longshotx sure love their ps3s and scions.
Fernando Rocker @ May 21st 2007 10:30PM

This is nothing... just until you meet Jack of No rades (the king of the trolls) and his boyfriend (Longshot X)...
Man, you will laugh a lot with all the hate they have against the Nintendo Defense Force...
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:30PM
@JodyAnthony
Hah, totally.
But Futurama is enough to get me away from my computer. On that note, ta-ta, I'm outie.
(Gawd damn it. I can't believe they're gonna recycle Syler.)

Man, you will laugh a lot with all the hate they have against the Nintendo Defense Force...
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:32PM
Wait, why would I run? Its not like i'm a fanboy or anything. Unlike some people that I see on these comments, they seem to be very bias for some reason. I can't put my tongue on it. But i'll say that most of the people who posted in the comments so far are fanboys, for better or for worse.
Anyway, I digress.
Why can't people just be glad that Geometry Wars is coming for Wii and DS? I wonder if they will use the same engine that was in the laser hockey game for Wii Play, I must admit that would suit this game well.
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:33PM
One more thing.
Jack of All Trades is awesome. Don't group him with Ian Von PoorTard and friends. He's not as haplessly stupid as he sounds, unlike PoorTard and his defense force.
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:34PM
HOLY SHIT.
A new commenter with common sense! We haven't seen one of those in months, hell, YEARS even! I welcome you, Beni, to the Joystiq Comment Threading.
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:35PM
Whats this defense force I keep on hearing about? From the sound of it, it seems like some kind of group that ignorantly defenses a console maker.
If thats what it is. Then, I will like laughing at them.
Fernando Rocker @ May 21st 2007 10:36PM
@Beni Nkangoh
Join to us... the Nintendo Defense Force... never give up... trust your instincts.
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:37PM
Haha thanks Fatass of Kickassness. Honestly, I don't feel like typing that every time I respond to you. Can I just call you FoK for short?
Jeez, I digress again.
I REALLY hope the DS version of Geometry Wars has Ad-Hoc. I can't way to kick some Geometry ass!
wackychan @ May 21st 2007 10:37PM
@ Fatass of Lameassness
Just because you don't have anything good to blow on the devils Wii, you shouldn't be here taking your frustrations out on everybody else. I own a Wii, so I can say whatever the fuck I want, and whatever you say doesn't matter because nobody reads your posts.
DO I hate to take a picture of my Wii to show you the cobwebs that ore gathering on it. Whoops, I bet your like that right? You probably do want to see my Wii?!?
Gambit @ May 21st 2007 10:38PM
Did you guys forget the Wii shop channel? In case none of you knew, there are already plans for non-virtual console games on there (Impossible Mission is the only one so far) but I think that they will just release it on the shop channel.
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:39PM
@Beni
Oh yes, the Defense Forces.
Theres the Ninty Defense Force, the Sony Defense Force, and the small group of High School Freshmen that make up the Microsoft Defense Force. They do nothing but praise their own system, and bash others. They've all got their bachelor degrees in Spin Doctoring, and I daresay that Ian Von Porter is the Hitler to this WWII.
They're all so stupid.
J.Goodwin @ May 21st 2007 10:40PM
I'm wondering where people got the $10 from myself. I paid 400 points, which is $5 in my world.
I assume that the rumour is talking about Zoe Mode, which is at least kind of geographically close to Bizarre (although five hours on the M40 and M6 isn't exactly "close").
Bizarre is a third party developer, they seem to want to get out and stretch their legs with other publishers these days, so who knows what's true and what's not. Maybe they're trying to get bought by Microsoft.
wackychan @ May 21st 2007 10:40PM
Oh and the only time people would actually read your posts is only if your responding to me. Get over it LardBoy.
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:40PM
@ Fernando Rocker
Thanks, but no thanks. I like all 3 console makes. For me instead of complaining about one consoles issues, I just get another one that suits my needs.
So far I have a Wii for multi player party action! But I don't like its online system (Actually, there is no online game in the US out for it)
But I plan on getting a 360 for XBOX LIVE and of course, lets admit, we all want Halo 3, fanboy or not.
PS3, ehh, I will wait, but when I do get one, it will be for Metal Gear Solid 4. Stealth action baby!
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:42PM
@ Gambit
Yeah, thats what I was thinking. But after I starting thinking about that, I quickly realized that the Wii only has 512MB of built in memory, and so then, all my dreams just imploded.
But hey, what do I know? There are all sortsa compression methods, and ways to make games extremely small.
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:42PM
@Wackychan
BWAHAHAHAHAHA
You've got to remember kid, the only reason anyone reads your posts in the first place is because you try and make them as hateful and really just as stupid as possible. And who are you to say that nobody reads my posts? Although thats irrelevant... unlike you middle schoolers the rest of us are able to see that everything isn't in fact a popularity contest.
And Jody, I'm not part of the Ninty defense force. No way in hell.
Keif @ May 21st 2007 10:45PM
guys I think we should all stop arguing, we may like different systems and have different definitions of good games, but I think we can all agree that wackychan is just a little bitch
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:45PM
@Keif
Agreed.
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:46PM
Shit, thanks to Wackychan I missed 16 minutes of Futurama. THATS SERIOUS FUCKING BUSINESS. I'll take care of you in the morning.
Beni Nkangoh @ May 21st 2007 10:48PM

You know you could just go on adultswim.com and watch it there if you missed it right?
If you already knew this then sorry. Heh
Fernando Rocker @ May 21st 2007 10:48PM
@Keif
I agree with you...
Fatass of Kickassness @ May 21st 2007 10:50PM
Yeah, but it doesn't matter because I've already downloaded all but the second season to my hard drive already, second season being downloaded now.
