Don't get me wrong, its all about how fun the title is, but...

These screens look like ass. I love my Wii but if this doesn't show that the system is Gamecube 1.5 I'm not sure what else does. I thought for sure by now we'd see things that actually gave merit to the comments that the Wii was as powerful or more so than an Xbox but honestly I'm not seeing it here. If Nintendo can't make a game that shows off that supposed power, I have to wonder if it really exists.

Still, I'll buy it because I love Nintendo and enjoy the titles. I'm sure it will be fun, but it isn't impressive at least by these screens.

Ug.

The screens are just bad. The game's graphics (as I've played it about a year ago) are 1000x better than this. I don't know who released these screens, but they're definitely not what the product actually has.

I believe Metroid Prime 1 looks better. I know these are still early, but still. I'm coming around to Wii. I can't wait for Smash, but this is horrid. I'm sorry Nintendo but the graphics even in the early version are unaccetable. Please add online to balance it out.

Ok, someone at Retro Studios messed up the screenshot taking here.

Evidence: Previous experience playing Metroid Prime 1 and the comment by Ken (#2).

Perhaps they should be rereleased

Oh man, worst screens of a game I've ever seen! Anyone who's played Prime 2 would know to expect more from Prime 3 than these shots. That game has fantastic graphics that really pushed the Gamecube. I can't even tell what some stuff is in these shots.

What's with Nintendo's marketing as of late? Everyone's on vacation till Christmas and I guess the drinking bird fell over. I'll never trust a countdown again...

This doesn't even make any sense...

I played MP3 at E3 last year and it looked STUNNING. I am positive they didn't downscale the graphics, that just wouldn't make any sense.

Perhaps they are running off the latest test build which was downscaled for improved frames per second so they could test out some other menial part of the game that didn't require graphics testing or something like that. Thats the only logical conclusion I can come up with...

Those screens look horrible! Good thing they don't represent the game whatsoever. I'm puzzled why a marketing team would allow these to be released. It would be like showing off Halo 3 with screens from Halo 1. Or Twilight Princess with screens from Ocarina.

I'm buying this the first day it's out. If you get fooled by these screens I feel sorry.

DON'T WORRY!

1. We've seen enough screenshots and games in motion to know that screenshots are usually a very bad representation of how a game actually looks.

2. Take red steel. The shots looks brilliant because they were displayed in high resolution on the computer monitor. In reality there were some pretty bad jagged lines in that game. Now take SSX Blur. The screens on the back of the box (uk version) were HORRENDOUS. But the game is actually won of the prettiest games on the system.

3. This is MEROID. Metroid games looked good on the cube. The dev team are very talented. This WILL look better than the cube versions.

4. Go to IGN and watch the High resolution videos from E3. It looks smooth, crisp and has smooth snazzy smoke, particle and lighting effects.

5. People who have actually PLAYED the game say that it looks BETTER than it did a year ago.

So don't woory!

Um, yeah. This video is from the May 2006 build of the game and it looks FAR better than the jagged ass-hattery present in those pics.

And that's not even the final build of the game. Don't be so quick to judge based on those crappy stills.

Too bad it won't have online multiplayer. T_T

Nintendo Now: "I heard that there’s not going to be online competitive multiplayer. Is that true?"
Bryan Walker: "That’s correct."

No online multiplayer is a good thing, IMO. Metroid Prime has always been an adventure game - not a competitive FPS. I'd rather have a good single player game than Echoes' crap multiplayer, online or off. Let some other game be the Wii's online fragfest, and let Metroid be Metroid.

Its is still quite likely it will be online.

At e3 they said metroid hunters would not be online, they delayed it 6 months and it had awesome online.

Here's what I tell people if they ask me if I am anticipating MP3: Nintendo has a BIG shot here to implement Wi-Fi. At the Nintendo site (link below) the game info only says: Players: 1. If the big N does not implement Wi-Fi, I will be two things: mad and screwed because of my preorder.

Methinks if you want a Metroid Prime game for the multiplayer (with the exception of Hunters), you'd be better off with something like BWii. The Metroid Prime games are adventure games (like Zelda) that happen to be in first-person. They are NOT first-person shooters.

Think about this:

If you took out the jaggies, the graphics would look as good (or better than) metroid PRime

The key is is that these screens were probably taken as Screen Captures of actual gameplay, and when you freeze a frame of ANYTHING scaled from 480p up to 1080i (or higher), its going to look like ass

In motion it will look great, believe me

Mr. Khan is correct. Standard def screens put on a monitor will get jaggied to hell. It'll look much better on your TV (and in motion).
