Skid Row, Poison, Extreme in 80s Guitar Hero
Stock up on the Aqua Net, would-be rockers: It's "big hair" day at Joystiq. Why are we teasing out our locks? Why, to mark the release of seven more songs to be included on Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, of course. It's called synergy. Anyway, here are the songs:
- "18 and Life" (as made famous by Skid Row)
- "Bathroom Wall" (as made famous by Faster Pussycat)
- "Lonely is the Night" (as made famous by Billy Squier)
- "Nothing But a Good Time" (as made famous by Poison)
- "Play With Me" (as made famous by Extreme)
- "Shaken" (as made famous by Eddie Money) [We're assuming they mean "Shakin'"]
- "Synchronicity II" (as made famous by Police)
- "I Wanna Rock" (by Twisted Sister)
- "I Ran" (by Flock of Seagulls)
- "Round and Round" (as made famous by Ratt)
- "I Want Candy" (as made famous by Bow Wow Wow)
- "Metal Health" (as made famous by Quiet Riot)
- "Holy Diver" (as made famous by Dio)
- "Heat Of The Moment" (as made famous by Asia)

Hell Yea
Extreme is the shit.
Nuno Bentencourt-guitar master.
Jason @ May 22nd 2007 9:22AM
Jack, you are now a confirmed troll after saying you like Extreme... More than Words makes me want to puke! Now bring this game to 360 so I can have a barfin' good time with my friends!
Kevin Little @ May 22nd 2007 9:22AM
Guitar Hero is one of the few games today that seems to get cooler and cooler.

OK!!!! That list frickin' RULEZ!!!!! That is my fave Quiet Riot tune to boot!! This will definitely be a "buy".... number padding or not this delivers the pwnage.
One question.... will it be with the new 2 player co-op???? Please say yes!
sheppy @ May 22nd 2007 9:29AM
You know... this announcement comes around the time I just got back from various CD trading stores attempting to find 80s hiphop....
Gotta say that list is fairly disappointing.
Here's hoping this compilation at least stays Every Rose free...
Matt B @ May 22nd 2007 9:29AM
Nuno is christ on the 6 string.
Where I live, Poison, Ratt, and White Lion are playing a concert on June 29th. Don't know if i'm going yet though. I grew up with that stuff, but now it also seams kind of cheesy.
Jason @ May 22nd 2007 9:34AM
Holy Diver? Round and Round? I Wanna Rock? Nothin' but a Good Time?
Well played Activision. Well played indeed.
Bad Mojo @ May 22nd 2007 9:35AM
@6 go to the show... Poison is well worth it. I saw them live for their "greatest hits" tour and it was awesome! (especially if you like the music)...
That same show is coming to Orlando July 4th... though I haven't decided if I'm feeling rich enough to go... but sounds like a killer line up...
DiRT @ May 22nd 2007 9:36AM
I never knew white trash would get so excited for a game...
AirIntake @ May 22nd 2007 9:36AM
Only for the PS2? There's another F.U. to the 360 players.
Todd H. @ May 22nd 2007 9:40AM
Please bring this to the 360, I'd buy this today if it were available.
FrankTheCrank @ May 22nd 2007 9:41AM
What a scary picture....four of the ugliest guys to ever come out of the 80's.
Can you imagine living the life these guys live? You rise to the top and then, poof, it's all over. Then you have to live with the fact that you were a hair band douchebag for the rest of your life. That must be like hell on earth.
DarthDavid @ May 22nd 2007 9:43AM
18 and life........if this is a cover, I wonder HOW are they going to get Sebastian Bach's screams right....anyways THIS is the game to get, 360 owners prepared to be raped with the download prices!! This is silly, PS2 is still getting great, great games....I'm getting Odin Sphere today!!
baby sea tuna @ May 22nd 2007 9:42AM
Nah, they'll probably bring these out for 360 as part of the "most DLC EVAR in a game" that they were claiming a while back. I'd probably even consider paying $2 a song for some of those. Kinda sucks that they went with "Nothin but a good time" instead of "Talk dirty to me" tho. Frikkin love that song!
samfish @ May 22nd 2007 9:44AM
Hmm...still not seeing the Ghostbusters theme on there...
Not that it matters. I can't, for the life of me, get into Guitar Hero or see why it appeals to so many people, to be honest..
Bad Mojo @ May 22nd 2007 9:48AM
@ 9 Really??? Do you need to troll with the flame bait?
And it's kind of funny.. you calling out "white trash" when your user name is "DiRT"
Good one :)
Joshua @ May 22nd 2007 9:49AM
I'm sure they will release it for the 360 but at tripple the cost of the PS2 version. They will say it has something to do with the currently placement of the moon and stars.
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 9:51AM
Dirt must be one of those dumb fucks that likes Rap. That is some stupid ass music. Go be a fake gangster with your stupid spinners so you can get your ass beat to a pulp by some redneck white trash.
Saneless @ May 22nd 2007 10:00AM
"Now bring this game to 360 so I can have a barfin' good time with my friends!"
I'm sure you'll even get it before the PS2 people do as DL Content. At $95.99 it will be a steal!
80zRock @ May 22nd 2007 10:02AM
Man PS2 Only! :( I was hoping this would be released for 360. This might be worth finding a used PS2 somewhere.
sheppy @ May 22nd 2007 10:14AM
"That is some stupid ass music."
Not exactly a fan of the current stuff but I love the old school. In fact, just dropped about $40 last night on Half.com tracking down a ton of CDs I used to own....
Besides, Dr. Octagon would PWN you....
Dave @ May 22nd 2007 2:03PM
Once again, life imitates art as heavy metal is ruined by an onslaught of glam rock.
Kwipper @ May 22nd 2007 10:37AM
Even though this band is not 80's. When are we going to start seeing some Dragonforce in Guitar Hero games?
I want to see people try to get good at this game with songs like that turning fingers into bloody stumps! Because thats Metal!
MrsEsterhouse @ May 22nd 2007 11:06AM
@2 Its not so much More Than Words as it is Play With Me...maybe you have the Sans Script font goin' or Farsi encoding..Have ya heard the song?! Cowboys and Bark got nothing on this one. Its the song that was playing in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure when all the historical figures were terrorizing the San Dimas Mall...yes...even Socrates was terrorizing
Markusdragon @ May 22nd 2007 11:27AM
Songlist fails miserably.
benzitor @ May 22nd 2007 12:21PM
@22
Sorry my friend, but dragonforce is a sissy kind of band, full of pussies, and lame tracks. The real heir of helloween.....YUK!
Nothing to compare to IRON MAIDEN or JUDAS PRIEST...
The only reason they should be inside this game would be the realease of a GUITAR HERO: "THE WANNA BE's ".
Be serious, high voices trying to be opera, and guitar mash potatoes does not make it a good metal band... It is just technic with no heart...and no lyrism ( check their track to believe me...dream theater power 10 )
And for those who dont believe me...just check their web site...a real joke. ( SPECIAL MOVES???? what a joke )
Anthony33 @ May 22nd 2007 12:35PM
I don't care what anyone has to say Shakin' is the shit. Also if this doesn't come out as a proper release for 360 I'll be pissed. There is no way I'm paying the curren DL prices.
Kurifurisan @ May 22nd 2007 1:20PM
I think the only thing needed at this point is a new guitar...something definitive of the 80's: the Keytar.
j.lee @ May 22nd 2007 2:01PM
I'm waiting for the "Hear'n Aid" classic STARS to be added to the repertoire. I mean COME ON! if you're doing an 80's guitar hero, you need to do the ensemble 80's metal whine out!
Also Damage Inc.
sheppy @ May 22nd 2007 2:14PM
I just gotta add this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfDKJyTzYaE
Oh Laa Oh Laa Ayyyyyyy
DiRT @ May 22nd 2007 2:43PM
Gee, "Jack of No Trades", did I strike a nerve? And no, I don't listen to Gangsta rap either. I like good music, and trailer court anthems aren't good.
bounchfx @ May 22nd 2007 3:51PM
as long as the songs are fun to play and challenging as hell, I'm ok with it.
I hate boring ass songs that are slow and un-fun to play.
Fav songs on GH2 include Hangar 18, Gemini, Six, and Jordan because they give a good challenge and it feels great when you dont miss a note in a long ass line.
Anything else (a la the first 6 teirs of GH2) is just boring.
Joe @ May 22nd 2007 4:31PM
Songs we need:
The Final Countdown
Africa by Toto
Take On Me
and of course... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0
That song has some of the best guitar work EVER. Not spoiling it, though.
Abscissa @ May 22nd 2007 4:31PM
"18 and Life", "Holy Diver": Excellent! Plus, "I Ran", "Round and Round", "Metal Health"...great list so far, looking forward to it.
Although, I'll be really disappointed if I don't see both Queensryche and Iron Maiden in there later on. I'd say the same about Ozzy, but that's almost guaranteed given the Sabbath being on the last couple games.
Just hope they finally come to their senses and decide to stop blocking the older TAC controllers.
Abscissa @ May 22nd 2007 4:35PM
@#33 Joe: Excellent suggestions, love those songs. Been way too long since I've heard that one in the YouTube link. But now I'm going to be really disappointed if any of those don't appear ;)
Dirk Dorkelson @ May 22nd 2007 4:43PM
God, would it kill them to wean themselves from the obvious metal/hair bands a bit more? Plenty of good music came out of the '80s, too. I'd love to rock out to "The Boy With Perpetual Nervousness" (The Feelies) or "Outside the Trains Don't Run on Time" (Gang of Four). Or how about some sweet Peter Hook bass lines? Or "Teen Age Riot?" "Heat of the Moment?" Gag me. Don't get me wrong. Hair bands have their place, too, but there's more to life than just cheezy, guilty pleasure metal.
Dirk Dorkelson @ May 22nd 2007 4:47PM
The sweeping immigration reform measure in
Congress is drawing criticism from U.S. business groups who say the
bill would set back companies already hurting for high-tech workers
and result in high turnover for industries relying on service
workers.
Dirk Dorkelson @ May 22nd 2007 4:48PM
Whoops. Sorry about that second post. That's what I get for mixing assembling the afternoon news budget with Joystiq.
Mark M @ May 22nd 2007 6:30PM
"Play With Me"? Oh Dear Jesus, my hand is already cramping
ThorzHamer @ May 22nd 2007 8:34PM
ok Joystiq guys...... has there been any and I mean ANY whiff of a mention that this will come out as a 360 release? I would LOVE to have this with just the mention of the tracks listed already. Please do some snooping for us 360 owners!!
ThorzHamer OUT!
ED @ May 22nd 2007 10:48PM
they are all good ideas expect the "I want candy " by bow wow...that would kill the game so badly
olanarchangel @ Jun 6th 2007 7:59PM
@25
Dream Theater fits that "all technique no heart" way better (I don't care how many thousand harmony solos they put in an album, or how many 28 minute songs they write, that doesn't make them good, it's just makes them tedious to listen to).
Dragonforce isn't that complicated, they just play everything really really fast. Discounting the speed they play at, their music is really simple. Also, Dragonforce's lyrics are probably the cheesiest crap I've ever heard.
