Step right up for Carnival Games: more minigames for the Wii
If you're anything like us, one of your chief complaints of Nintendo's waggle-enabled phenom isn't the dearth of games that really push the control mechanism in new directions, it's the lack of minigame compilations! Sure, the system comes with Wii Sports, Ubisoft gave us Rayman Raving Rabids, Nintendo brought us WarioWare: Smooth Moves and Wii Play, EA's got EA Playground, Nintendo still has Mario Party 8, and now Take-Two is sending us down the midway with Carnival Games. Sure, that sounds like a lot for a system that's only six months old.
But we can't help ourselves. The thought of playing "25 of the most popular games seen in midways and boardwalks throughout the world, including Clown Splash, Milk Can Toss, Nerves of Steel, Lucky Cups, Hoops, Day at the Races and the crowd-favorite Dunk Tank" has us all worked up. Announced at the Nintendo Media Summit, happening right now in Seattle, Carnival Games is due this summer for the reasonable price of $40. C'mon fella, it's just $40! Don't you wanna win a bear? Lookit' that, guy won't spend a couple bucks to win his special friend a teddy bear. I'll give ya 25 games for the price of one, just for you fella.

These will be fun to play. I can't wait. Great post.
sheppy @ May 22nd 2007 10:35AM
It BETTER come bundled with a cupie doll.
Konny @ May 22nd 2007 10:36AM
Sounds like another million unit seller for the Wii... cant wait for Carnival Games 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...
perfectchaos @ May 22nd 2007 10:37AM
probably the best way to stop the wii from being flooded with mini game collections is to not buy the crap. what a concept.
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 10:37AM
I would pay $80 for this game, it will be that good!
I know, I will just buy two copies, and a second wii while I'm at it!
sunshine and rainbows!!!!!!!!
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 10:41AM
Jody
I will have buy a third copy of this game to remind you how GREAT it will be. My friend code is 12454643636243624575373578456854. Can you remember that?
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 10:42AM
of course jack! the friend code will be easy to remember. it's just that simple! I would send you my friend code, but there is probably a limit on how many characters you can type in one of these comments. Besides, I wouldn't want to accidentally offend someone by having the numbers six and nine next to eachother.
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 10:47AM
No problem Jody! We have 6 hours to download your friend code. It will make the smile on my face even wider. We better open up a secure site so no one get offended. Good thinking!
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 10:48AM
this is the game that will get you to think "sony who?"
(and then not comment on joystiq about it. only happy thoughts, friends)

Jody and Jack will lead as two kings.
hvnlysoldr @ May 22nd 2007 11:00AM
I'm hoping we get to call shenanigans on the carneys. If nothing else tearing down the park would be therapeutic.
stewis @ May 22nd 2007 11:01AM
Fancy a game of Lucky Cup?
megaStryke @ May 22nd 2007 11:03AM
I hope the games are rigged to recreate that authentic carnival feel.
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 11:05AM
mega
Oh, Mega! You bet it will. When playing this game it will feel as if your inside a carnival!
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 11:09AM
I would think that the games wouldn't be rigged. If the games were rigged, it might make people mad, and if it makes people mad, it's not allowed to be posted about on joystiq.
then again, chris grant posted this, and he is above the rules that he sets for everyone else.
megaStryke @ May 22nd 2007 11:13AM
The game will undoubtedly sell millions, but if they were to include a free funnel cake and bratwurst on a stick with every purchase, they could sell TRILLIONS!
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 11:13AM
Please Jody. Im begging you! Don't take "The Holy One" name in vain!
*ducks under work desk*
J @ May 22nd 2007 11:17AM
So uh, Jack and Jody have nothing better to do than engage in pointless banter in the joystiq comments?
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 11:19AM
'J' must be new to joystiq.
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 11:21AM
J
What else is there to do? Work? Hahaha! I think not!
Stay on topic J!
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 11:23AM
it looks to me like J made a personal attack against me and jack. Obviously he should be banned.
Ken @ May 22nd 2007 11:23AM
Haha, Jack, c'mon man... You know you were just shamelessly bashing Nintendo for no reason in alot of threads.
I like you though, and think you've got a good side to yah. But you didn't show it as much as you should have.
@on topic
CARNIVAL!!!
fwacce @ May 22nd 2007 11:29AM
I don't think anyone would mind if both of you got banned. You're acting like children regardless of whatever immature point you're trying to make. If joystiq rules make you that upset, then go play somewhere else. Unless it's just about your ego.
Hirsbrunner @ May 22nd 2007 11:26AM
@19. Just ignore them.
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 11:26AM

You said you finished the Thieves Guild Quest right?
Almack64 @ May 22nd 2007 11:27AM
You know mindless dribble about how awesome is when it isn't seems to be just as fun as mindless dribble about how horrible something is when it isn't.
Man I never get enough of spinning that wiimote in circles, or flicking while holding the B button, or randomly slashing it through the air. This game will certainly be simply amazing. I love minigames.
I hope the instructions will be just as unhelpful as in those other games because it only adds to difficulty and replay value since you have to take the time to actually figure out how to play the game. Who needs instructions anyways motion controls are so self explanatory, anyone can pick them up.
Brent @ May 22nd 2007 11:31AM
The Wii needs more mini-game collections. If they bundle a Wiimote with this bad boy, I'll buy three, and I don't even own a Wii!
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 11:31AM
no, fwace, its about having fun. we did have fun flaming eachother, but we are not allowed to do that anymore. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I forgot how jack and I are not allowed to have fun, because you deem it so.
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 11:33AM
hey, does anyone else remember a time when playing video games and talking about video games was all about fun?
Andy @ May 22nd 2007 11:35AM
Skee ball, anyone?
Almack64 @ May 22nd 2007 11:40AM
@fwacce
Also people like myself had fun watching those wars progress. I have really got into the heat of things but it was certainly fun (most of time to read). These "rules" almost make want to start trolling myself for no reason. Anyway I guess C. Grant you've made my boss happy cause I'm going to now go on and get some work done, which for some reason right now seems more interesting than this site. Cheers
Brent @ May 22nd 2007 11:40AM
You know what would be AWESOME? If somebody came out with a Wii game of "Ball in a Cup".
Obligatory Family Guy quote:
"Hey kids of America, its hand painted wooden ball-in-a-cup, Mexico's favorite toy for over 340 years. Who needs constant video game stimulation when theres ball-in-a-cup? You just toss the ball, catch it in the cup, dump it out of the cup, toss it, and catch it in the cup again. The ball is on a string and attached to the cup, so theres no worry if you dont catch the ball in the cup. And clean up is as easy as catching a ball, in a cup. So why spend another day not catching a ball in a cup when you can be catching a ball-in-a-cup?"
megaStryke @ May 22nd 2007 11:40AM
@Jody
I remember those days. It was elementary school. As the years drag on we become more knowledgeable and thus far more jaded. Life was simple back then: "Sonic 3? Booyah!" "I'm gonna draw Mario for art class!" "I'm gonna make my own video games!"
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 11:41AM
would you like to try a game of lucky hit?
oh wait, wrong game.
Almack64 @ May 22nd 2007 11:41AM
@32
Correction: "I have rarely got..."
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 11:42AM
"I'm gonna make my own video games!"
ahaha, I remember those days.
good old qbasic
JodyAnthony @ May 22nd 2007 11:44AM
I think I'm going to take Almack64's idea and hit the road for the rest of the day. work awaits.

Better be a Russian Roulette bonus round
Kizzle @ May 22nd 2007 12:11PM
Sweet, if there's one thing I can't get enough of on the Wii, it's gimmick titles that get old after a week. Minus weekends.
Vidikron @ May 22nd 2007 12:20PM
Wow... the posters are exceptionally crazy today.
Anyway, I wonder if skeeball counts as a carnival game? Who doesn't like skeeball?
Grog @ May 22nd 2007 12:24PM
Let me join everyone else saying that I hope this new Troll Lite(tm) version of Joystiq lasts a while. It's nice to actually talk about the news.
As for the subject at hand, it doesn't really affect me - like most people, I don't think I'll ever be under any real temptation to buy this game.
Kye @ May 22nd 2007 12:27PM
I found joystiq at work, now im back at uni doin my masters (yes, i can read and right and spel properlee, im not just teh fanboy)
just wondering, what does everyone else do all day long? me group meetings, lectures, coursework, joystiqing between meetings, lectures and coursework.
On topic:
not looking forward to more mini games, but I'll reserve judgment till I play it.
sooob @ May 22nd 2007 12:30PM
wow judy and jack are ruining joystiq, can we get some mods to interact please?
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 12:31PM
Well Kye
I create models, assy & drawings for Hawker BeechCraft Corporation using Solidworks & Catia. The first 6 months was fun but after 2 years I could shoot myself. I blog Joystiq when Engineering Manager is not around or when a Assy is not hot.
On topic
This game looks fun.

CARNIES... now with child molesting, alcoholic CARNIES...!!!
every single post on the site today is a big whine-fest. the site should be called whine-stiq. who's this site's favorite musician...? amy WHINE-house. God I hate whiners... I can't come to this site aanymore...
perfectchaos @ May 22nd 2007 12:38PM
martin, you do realize by whining about whiners, you yourself have become a whiner you just whined about.
Vidikron @ May 22nd 2007 12:38PM
Kye,
I'm a network/workstation admin for a small aerospace manufacturing company. So I spend most of my day in front of the computer. So I like to check in on Joystick while I'm waiting for an install to finish, or wating on someone to get back with me about a problem, etc...
Jack,
Hey! Sounds like you are in the same business as me, except you are on the engineering side. I've done quite a few Inventor, Catia, AutoCAD, etc... installs here. We make part for various aircraft companies.
Jack of No Trades @ May 22nd 2007 12:40PM
