Assassin's Creed will have limited edition
As our significant others are so keen to remind us, we're easily swayed by advertising here at Joystiq. Take, for example, the announcement that Assassin's Creed will have a limited edition release on PS3 and Xbox 360. Normally we'd like to know a little more about a product before we agree to buy it, but after watching the trailer we posted yesterday, we were ready to mail our credit card to Ubisoft with a heart-shaped slip of paper with our signature on it.
For those who demand a little more info with their purchases, we humbly oblige. The $69.99 tin-encased game apparently really will be in limited quantities and will come with a figurine of titular assassin Altair, Penny Arcade comics and some short films, along with some other bonuses that we didn't have time to read before we totally went to the store to buy it. Not that it was on sale yet, but, like we said, we're really susceptible to advertising. Let's just hope there's no marketing for GTA IV or BioShock ... ah, crap, we'd better just start saving.

i can get behind this kind of limited edition. its only $10 more than the actual game and comes with all that stuff. It's the 'limited edition' games that are like $30 more than the actual game and come with diddly squat that I cant stand.
I still won't pick up the LE but its pretty cool nonetheless.

joystiq reccomends you get a second job for all these limited editions :)

Yea limited edition stuff can be great. Some sell for alot of money on ebay if the game becomes really popular.

I already have my Asia region Limited Edition of this game preordered long ago.
You get the game, and a 12" statue of the hero, and it's region free with English voice and text... AND it was $59.90. Of course shipping is about $20. But still. I'll readily take a statue versus five documentaries that are going to end up on Gametrailers to hype the game anyway.

Guess I should link that since Play-Asia is no longer taking orders on it.

sheppy... it says the eng LE comes with a statue... and PA comics... so you paid more for less?

Heh, I first read the last sentence as "ah, crap, we'd better just start *starving*." Can your internal monologue have a Freudian slip? There's some 360 games due out this year that are more important than food....
shivr @ May 23rd 2007 1:39PM
actually, I read it as starvng too...

"sheppy... it says the eng LE comes with a statue... and PA comics... so you paid more for less?"
Actually, it says it comes with a figurine. Prey came with figurines. Figurine usually indicates something between 2"-5". The import comes with a statue. 12", not being handled by Ubisoft so more than likely it will look closer to some of those import figures. And it's 12" tall. It's as tall as a classic GI Joe. Now either the LE is going to have some DAMN awkward packaging for the states, or it's not the same figure.

Of course will have. Every game from now on will have a limited edition.

Considering how common the practice is in Japan, I'm suprised it took so long over here. But then again, Japan has had some incredibly aweinspiring LE sets.

I mean, off the top of my head, this one comes with a soundtrack and a pocketwatch. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-44-77-1-49-en-15-limited%2Bedition-70-1z4-43-99.html

Awesome image again :P
Well, I like the figurine tour developers start to take, so maybe I'll buy the LE.

I'm getting really sick and tired of limited editions. Utterly pointless.
...but for only $10 bucks more, this isn't a bad deal.

Cheers to having my Play-Asia order in months ago :D And double cheers for them not charging me till then! (and the main reason I never pre-order on ebgames.com)
My only concern is if I change the credit card number they have, I will be put on the 'back of the line'... any thoughts?
I can't wait till November.. and September... And October. I
