anyway ive worked wii sports into my workout routine. I am trying to lose about 60 pounds before november (getting married nov 17 and I am currently a fatass.)

I have been doing weight training, as well as 30 minutes on the eliptical at the ymca and 30 minutes on wii sports, 15 minutes on baseball and 15 minutes on boxing. that coupled with a diet and taking the stairs instead of the elevator, I've dropped 7 pounds since saturday.

oh, for everyone to laugh at me: I am 6'0" and currently (as of last night anyway) 288 lbs. Stepping on the scale saturday and seeing that I was dangerously close to crossing the 300 mark kicked my ass into gear. Two years ago I wore a size 38 pant and today I wear a size 44. Yes I am a fatass. But not for long.

Eh...that's nothing to laugh at Jody. I went through the 'middle-aged' weight gain about two years ago and have had to completely readjust my life and eating habits because of it. I had grandiose ideas of using the Wii for exercise but found that I'm just too lazy. I prefer the Karen Carpenter method to weight loss.

And BTW...I have to say that Leg Warmers can have a use. My partner is diabetic and suffers from poor circulation in his legs. When it's cold in the apt here in Chicago, he wears them to bed to keep his legs from cramping up. Of course, it's funny as hell to see a 6'1" bear of man wearing pink or yellow leg warmers and a pair of boxers to bed.

Jody: I love when people combine the legwarmers with the leotard. Extra pointlessness.

Working out with the Wii is almost as pointless as the leotards, so I guess the pic works. You can burn more calories doing literally anything than you can playing Wii Sports or playing DDR. The only benefit they have is that if you're particularly disinterested in actually working out, you tend to play for longer.

Get out and walk for 30 minutes and you'll burn all the calories you would have burned playing Wii Sports for 2 hours.

I get all my exercise from hiking. So long as your bag is fairly heavy (though well balanced) you'll build upper body muscles too.
Wii boxing has got me into a sweat in the past and during the initial first Wii play my arms were pretty shattered! Now play for even longer yet my arms don't hurt... Progress! Even casual play now gets my body going. Which I like.

im right outside of chicago! and I hadnt heard that poor circulation thing, but it makes sense.

as for ohjustsomerandomguy, its true that there are MANY better ways to burn calories, but if its a choice between wii sports or sitting on your ass and watching tv, at least wii sports is something.

I dont think anyone would really lose much (if any) weight from only an hour of wii sports a day though

Good luck jody on the weight loss. A friends parents have had incredible luck on the south beach diet and his mom is the lightest she's been in over 20 years and with exercise is dropping a good few lbs a week. And nothing has worked close to this well for her in the past and she's tried a lot.

Once you get to a weight you feel comfortable with I'd pick up a sport. I always gain a couple lbs around finals as I literally don't do anything and eat excessively because I get bored with just studying. SO I always play basketball everyday for two weeks and can always get my body and stomach toned again. Pretty sexy if I do say so myself.

I incorporated the Wii into my exercise regimen. Every morning I wake up in my cramped 4th floor apartment; carry my bike town to the street. Ride down to Lake Shore Drive and ride up and down the beaches on Lake Michigan (lot of people in/near chi-town).

After doing that for an hour or so I go home and box on WiiSports for 30 min. In the 2 months I have had the wii and the bike (got them at the same time) I have gone from 280 down to 260.

I know it’s not the best form of exercise, but any extra form of cardio I can fit into my exercise is good for my circulation. Both my parents are diabetics, so I do as much cardio as I can.

Whenever I decide to start a working out (I go in 4 month spurts), I always drop 10 lbs. right away from water retention. And then the fat starts to burn. GL Jody.

I've been 6 feet 140LBS for 14 years now. I eat fast food every day, drink a few beers every night, smoke, and sit at the computer all day at work and at night when I get home.
I can't gain a freaking pound!! GRRr

I'm overweight, and I'll probably use Wii Sports to get myself out of the lazy mood from the last 12 months, and get myself used to exercising to begin to lose weight for university over the summer.

If I don't get a job, I'll def need to kick myself into working out at least a few hours a day. Go walking, maybe eventually running, take the car out to a remote place and walk in peace, or join a gym maybe during the quiet daytime.

Another option is sleep during day and exercise at night when I feel more awake. I also feel like changing diet completely.

Wii Sports is better than sitting playing virtua tennis, tiger woods golf etc on another console.

haha the first day I got a wii, my friends came over to play. the next day, half of them were complaining their arms/shoulders hurt.

I told myself I would use it every day for light cardio but so far haven't been able to pull the discipline for it

Man, what's with all the leg warmers hate? I've always thought leg warmers were hot.

I could still stand to lose a few more pounds, admittedly, but I lost a LOT of weight when I became a vegetarian a while back. If I can get back to 190, I'll be happy.
I don't think I take in more than 1000 calories a day anymore.

For a lot of people, if you can just keep it under 1500 calories a day you'll lose weight.

I also go for bike rides a few times a week and try to go hiking on weekends.

But that 10 Day Hoodia Diet thing also works pretty good. I tried that about a month ago and literally lost about 9 pounds.

Wii sports gave me killer abs! I got them from all the vomiting I did induced by the 2001 graphics of 2 gamecubes duct-tapped together.

Tip on losing weight, ride a bike instead of driving a car to any location close to your home.

Lmao@0 Matt B

Sounds like me... Can eat anything and burn it off by the time i've finished burping.

But please do NOT confuse weight with health. You can be skinny and still have clogged arteries. It's not unheard of for people with your lifestyle to suffer heart attacks.

Execrcise man.
